How on earth were they supposed to see EVERYTHING Darkfall has to offer? They only played for a couple of hours. If they were to write a complete review, they would need to actually participate in the closed beta.
This proves beta is running full speed; we are waiting for 2 dates now: Open Beta, and release.
If this really is a full review of what Darkfall will be at launch then it is a complete joke and an insult to the thousands of people who have been waiting for the last 8 years. This is exactly the same thing every other person who has visited their offices and seen the game has said for the last 5 years, its only the most rudimentary basics allready available from most MMO's over the past decade. Either this game is not launching this year because 90% of the promised features and content have still not been implemented and publicly tested yet. Or this game is launching this year and its only going to be 10% of what was promised. I sincerely hope this is not the full review of the current game a month from launch, but is only a preview of the full review they will release later. Sucks to be proven correct but this is just sad and pathetic if this is all they really have to show, 1 month from launch after 8 years of development. I’m a little bit in shock about this because even after all these years and my increasing scepticism I’ve realized how badly I wanted to be wrong at the end, but this looks like it was just a complete waste of time for all concerned.
I made the point elsewhere about the lack of information about all those great new innovations and unique features. This just reads like a very basic MMO. And it follows from the murmurings about the crafting being disappointing. It could still be a sandbox I suppose, if being completely devoid of features counts as a sandbox. It looks quite bereft in the screenshots.
This is all assuming that it's in a playable state over the net.

What are you referring to? Those promised features? That's not the issue. I'm talking reality and the evidence we have so far. And why there is no mention of them in this review/preview/bullview again. I would have thought Aventurine would be showing them off. So far we know the combat is quirky and crafting is disappointing.
Is anybody else not the least bit wary of this review....or of Darkfall? So much of what we have seen from the Darkfall team in the last few months is EXACTLY what we saw before the Dark and Light release, before the game Mourning (I think thats what it was called) was released a few years back, and multiple other games.
It always seemed that everybody hated the game up until a few months/weeks before its supposed release when at that point the developers release JUST enough information to make everybody stop and think "Hey, maybe this game is actually ready". This "review" doesnt seem the least bit "shilly" to anybody? I mean its only complaints, if they could be called complaints, is that the control system and interface system are a little to complex but the author gets over those problems pretty quickly.
This review just seems totally fishy. This game has been in development since what, pre-2001 and all of a sudden in the past few weeks the dev team has suddenly got it? They have had supposed betas, release dates, movies, dev chats, month after month, year after year, all of which promised some kind of great progress and all of which failed to produce squat. Release dates came and went, time and again. Beta dates came and went time and again. Even recent beta dates seemed fishy with proclamations of beta starting yet NOBODY HAS LEAKED ANY INFORMATION except for a few reviews from "official people". When was the last time this happened. When was the last time that such a controversial game had a "beta" that admitted actual people but everybody was true to their word on the NDA and didn't leak one bit of information? I have never, ever seen that happen.
This seems exactly like what DnL and Mourning did. They let in a a few "beta testers", released beta "reviews" that were glowing reviews of the game, and then "released" the game, charging people money for it, only to have them log in and the game is a piece of shit with no quests, NPC's, lacking graphics, and only 5% of the promised features.
Hopefully I am wrong and fans of the game are right, but it just seems like everything that has happened is a repeat of past game releases.

I'm guessing that the 2 reps of mmorpg.it are not beta testers. They were there to only preview the game. And in the past when the media wants to preview a game, they travel to the developers studio.
Ive actually been starting to gain interest in this game recently with nothing truly interesting on the horizon, however after this preview I had to LOL, it sounds like a paid advertisement and not even an interesting one at that. Its pretty sad how they wont list anything negative its as if the biggest Fanboy from these forums did a review on the game..

Sorry, no offense intended but, how does this PROVE beta is running at FULL speed?
I would think FULL speed would be the 2 italians actually downloading the client, patching and logging in from their offices in Italy to experiance this MMO. Full speed is NOT sitting in an office playing an MMO logged in LOCALLY to ONE PC with a client ON A LAN.
This is NOT a single player game. Logging in from abroad is CRITICAL to the success of an MMO.

Interesting reading, thank you for the translation. But I find it curious that a gaming web site that was given the privilige to play test one of the most secret games in development didn't bother to discuss when the developers planned to conduct the open beta and go live, especially since its supposed to go live in less than a month and a half. Those would have been my first questions, and yet, somehow they didn't even bother to address them. In fact, this review reads more like a paid advertisement, since they don't bother to bring up anything really negative, and when they do (like the complexity of the interface) they quickly dispell it saying, don't worry, you'll figure it out quickly. No comments about lag, latency, how a 200 vs 200 battle went, in fact, looking at their gear it looks like they got to create a character and mess around a bit in the starter areas for the most part, and didn't really see or experience the more advance features. I remain skeptical at this point, and will remain so until I see the game reviewed by more mainstream sources that have some sort of credibility. Edit, quite honestly, I could have a better review than this, and that's not what I do for a living.

Tasos is even more my idol today when it seems he been the truthsayer all along. They said you get good latency on 200vs200 battles and if all they said was the truth before, why shouldnt this also be the truth? Have some faith, all developing companies isnt like Funcom

Kyleran, It is possible that they asked those questions about timeline of open beta and release and it was just one of the topics that they either didnt get an answer to or were asked to not talk about at all. Time will tell and there is still much to be reviewed and disclosed...but at this point...Aventurine seems to be living up to their word about the state of the game.

Beta started the 10:th of november and the quality on the info is raising, just as Tasos informed us a while ago. He said we will start getting better quality info as were closing into release. Beta will be short and as i have proved that Tasos is a trustworthy guy, why dont you take his word for it? A short open beta before release. They already did the bug testing with professional testers.
We will do a stresstest as beta players, nothing else. And hardware test.

I seriously doubt Darkfall will launch by the end of the year. If it does somehow magically launch, then I seriously doubt a quarter of the features promised will be implemented at launch..

What a joke.. Go read a REAL review there is always good AND.. AND bad. If you have been lucky to play the beta then you KNOW this review is nothing but hot air. Darkfall has so many problems yet nothing was said about those.. like OMG this game is perfect ..

Im not that worried about latency since it seems everything we read so far on Darkfall (old developer journals) was nothing but 100% the god honest truth. Tasos is even more my idol today when it seems he been the truthsayer all along.
They said you get good latency on 200vs200 battles and if all they said was the truth before, why shouldnt this also be the truth? Have some faith, all developing companies isnt like Funcom

Beta started the 10:th of november and the quality on the info is raising, just as Tasos informed us a while ago. He said we will start getting better quality info as were closing into release. Beta will be short and as i have proved that Tasos is a trustworthy guy, why dont you take his word for it? A short open beta before release. They already did the bug testing with professional testers.
We will do a stresstest as beta players, nothing else. And hardware test.
Just have some patience.
I made the point elsewhere about the lack of information about all those great new innovations and unique features. This just reads like a very basic MMO. And it follows from the murmurings about the crafting being disappointing. It could still be a sandbox I suppose, if being completely devoid of features counts as a sandbox. It looks quite bereft in the screenshots.
This is all assuming that it's in a playable state over the net.

I seriously doubt Darkfall will launch by the end of the year. If it does somehow magically launch, then I seriously doubt a quarter of the features promised will be implemented at launch..
This is actually one game where I'm literally not expecting anything great from after 6 years of hype. I hope I'm wrong!
