    Fair enough.

So basically, there are no successful pay-to-play MMO's from the last five years that have done what Aventurine is doing with Darkfall in terms of a total lack of information for potential players so close to release. Good to know.

When you've been waiting for Darkfall for so long, they could kick you in the nuts, steal your money, throw you off a cliff and you'd still find a way to justify what they did.

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Look how long it took Blizzard to get more servers online.
Now take a company like Aventurine with it's clout... how long will it take them.
So, these customers who paid for a game that they can never login to... they are going to happily wait while Tasos posts his "Soon" updates?  Me thinks you are overly optimistic of MMO player's patience.

Well hopefully they will be sensible and only sell the number of clients that they can support.

Yup.  That is my guess as well.

Kinda makes their "marketing strategy" not seem totally idiotic when taking that into consideration.

I'm still not convinced it's a good strategy... but I don't think they are trying to steal our money either, so perhaps it might work out for them in the end.

I'm not nearly that pessimistic. I've had fun in a lot of games the past five years.

Never tried EVE, though. I've read about it and it doesn't seem like my thing, but if others enjoy it, more power to them.

What is your opinion on the shape of the Earth?

Just looking to get a bit of perspective here, so I know how to judge your previous opinion.

Duh! It's flat! And the dinosaurs are alive and well and living in Africa!

    WTF? No subscription fee?

Obviously it's fact! I mean, have you ever looked at the horizon? Doesn't looked curved to me!

And seriously, something is keeping Africa from developing infrastructure, and we know their political leaders are noble and brilliant.

Google "Flat Earth Society." What you find will bring chuckles bubbling up for days to come.

Yeah, it is surprising what people will believe these days.

I would suppose those that are of the "Flat Earth Society" would almost of necessity also belong to those that believe the Lunar Landing was a hoax?

Seeing as those pictures of space would seem to indicate a round Earth... the only logical conclusion is that the pictures from space are not real.

Why wouldn't you expect things that concern your decision to buy the game be clarified BEFORE the game is available for purchase? I mean, if I am a seller, I want the client to know how to buy my product before it even hits the shelves. If the client doesn't know those things, he may not buy my product. ANd I have not seen a company making a product and not wanting to sell it.
