BOREHAMMER...

We on Eltharion in EU, made it to IC today - what a complete and utter waste of time.

This is the WORST end game I have experienced in any MMO - apart from AoC.  It is outrageous.

A huge effort from Order to create the opportunity, and for what?  Order in one instance, Desdemona in the other - doing what?

Farming the same PQ over and over again for gold bags with Invader gear in them?  Mythic, is this it?  Is this what you worked 4 years for to achieve?  This game cannot hold a candle to the end game of DAoC, so what the hell has happened in the interim?

Did you sack your best imaginative brains, or are they stuck in a time warp somewhere, thinking people enjoy this mind-numbing experience?

I sat back whilst watching some of this inane activity, and thought to myself, 'ok, how do I feel about this now I'm here...'

Underwhelmed and a massively multiplayered anticlimax.

Rubbish.

You know, I cannot disagree with you or find a argument, because everything you have mentioned happens on Destruction side as well. I am glad it didn't take me more than 30 days to figure out this game was a desperate grasp at MMO glory, a shame really.

I hear ya man. I almost dismissd this for a wow rant. But, you, just hit the nail on the head.

Maybe, if we wish hard enough, they will take the next 4 years to start Dark Age 2.

    I doubt it.

I agree. I was in the beta and enjoyed leveling actually and thought man this game is pretty fun. Then after sitting at end game for a while I thought is this it? Grinding keeps/obs over and over, having one zerg roll over the other then see people drop group and get bored or tired of it. I played on Dark Crag and Praag and it was the same on both servers. I logged in less and less and canceled my account, although I did like leveling I think making alts and leveling them is more enjoyable then end game.

I agree, hard to believe the same people who brought us DAOC came up with this as its successor.

I couldn't even make it to the end game before I got bored out of my mind. The same repetitive PVP instances and PVE quests zone after zone, zerg rush after zerg rush.

It's kind of funny how Mythic had to go so far out of their way to offer rewards for World PVP when they should have just sacked the scenarios and forced players to World PVP if they wanted to raise their renown rank. The whole system was flawed from the start.

And really, there wasn't very much to the game. The combat was simple, and the crafting was a total afterthought. What exactly did Mythic spend so much time developing?

Yeah, Warhammer is just plain boring, it is one of the most boring games in the world. It is really a boring game and I really don't like Warhammer. I hated the scenarios, I hated the quests, I really hated the combat overall. I mean come on, and then end game is even worse. Oh well, there's Age of Conan, Star Wars: ToR and Aion: Tower of Eternity, so I'll have plenty of fun with those games.

    No no no.. stick around......

Mark Jacobs sent a "mystery package" to K & G Headquarters the other day with hair clippers, hair dye and a cryptic note! It was a PR hint kit that Slayers are coming!!

Don't leave yet! You can reroll your 5th alt into the 20s again and take revenge on all those Destro Witch Elves!

If this happens could be awesome, Slayers were always some of my favourite characters within the mythos.

Played: WoW, Lotro, AoC, Eve, CoX.
Shortly be playing: WAR and champions if the release date holds.

Oh its happening all right. Check around forums around the 29th of this month and wait for an important announcement from Mark Jacobs. Rumor is that's when he'll pop the surprise of Slayers coming.

WAR is the biggest disappointment of the year.  It is actually a step BACKWARD compared to DAOC, a game that is over 7 years old! WTF was mythic thinking??  The game is downright terrible.

Aye....but the "clowns" were very very very good at pumping up the masses.  I never remember seeing ANY  better pre-release developer videos ANYWHERE.  I was so excited for this game by the time I actually set foot in it.....I was almost beside myself.

The best thing I got from the whole experience....was a much needed lesson.  I won't be hopping on any more hype wagons.  A lesson that might actually pan out to being WORTH the money I spent, being that I won't be "pre-ordering" any more games either.  Hell...Mythic probably saved me hundreds of dollars over the next few years by teaching me this.

While I agree they did a great job on their prehype and prehype videos I *never* saw an *ingame* video that seemed anywhere exciting in my opinion. Even the one that was "Set up" was done in a rather boring way (explained away by Mythic that it was supposed to be easier for the investors that way ...). Most of the video's was Paul waving his hands creating *brilliant* word pictures, but never reall yingame stuff.

Ok I really dont get the complaint. What specifically is boring in the game? It allows you to PvP instead of grinding mob to level and the end game is to raid the opposing sides keep and it is actually quicker to level through PvP Scenarios. That in itself is revolutionary.

An endgame that I agree there are many shortcomings in but Im having a blast leveling my character through scenarios. And PQ? All you do that for is to get some gear so you can be more effective in PvP. It could be made more interesting by being more dynamic but quests in MMORPGs are unfourtanetely very static and has no impact on the world.

Also O-RvR and endgame needs alot of work, that I agree with, but it being boring? I rather play a scenario than grind moronic AI mobs in LOTR, anytime.

    - They can't fix the continious Fortress server / zone crashes!

    - They can't fix the boring endgame!

So yeah... they need to do something to keep people subscribed.

haha i actually enjoyed watching his videos. Loved how he spoke to the people watching them as if they were 6 year olds. On a side note i think he'd make a great kindergarden teacher...if he isnt already one.

I don't understand why people who:

    1. Don't belong to decent organized guild

    2. Who never got past rank 30

Complain. Get to rank 40 and you can start playing the actual game. Amazing game, the best mmo currently on market, fine there are some stuff that need evolving but they're working on it, I started at launch and totally hooked on the game; played 40/rr48Sorcerer and then my guild rerolled to order and now 40/rr43 BW and still enjoying and having fun.

Give it a chance and play for fun.

Well, seeing as you're only talking about the broken endgame, the title of your thread is a bit misleading. You're just talking about how the city siege is more PQ than PvP, though all I heard was "farming PQ ZOMG LAWL MYTHIC YOU SUCK LAWL GO FALL IN A DITCH" for the second half of the post.

So yeah... they need to do something to keep people subscribed.

1.1.1 introduces "Subliminal Zone Control", sort of, where if you actually hold all of the BOs and Keeps then you can lock the zone, not determined only by spamming Scenarios or doing PQs anymore to tip that scale. Though until they really make Zone Control and actual player kills more valuable, I'm not sure how much that'll help. It's in addition to the existing Control system, not a replacement of it though.

There's only been a few Fort crashes on Dark Crag I believe, we just stormed two on Azazel and went like butter...new arguments please.

Boring endgame? Well, that's a matter of opinion. If you don't play sports I don't imagine you can understand how nice it is to "win" after fighting for so long, so, if you only play for the uber gearz, that's fine. You're going to get bored.

After reading all these whiney posts I am very confused..Is this a Game forum or a nursery full of newborn babies. Lots of crying going on...The problem with all these MMO's are the people playing it and not the game itself..

The same people who don't take the time to enjoy a game, to explore, to goof off, to play another game, to have a life outside of 23 hours of MMO's...This game is no different than any other mmo's end game..The problem is people gun for the end game several months after release and miss out on alot .

I don't feel any pity for you because you chose to run as fast as you could to the end game..All I can say to you is if you don't like the end game or other things about WAR there is always much worse MMO's (WOW) (lol) waiting for you.

"The game is only as good as the person playing it...."

You must be smoking the Devil's lettuce or not know what 'real' PvP/RvR is about.

I was in CB for over a year before OB and rolled almost every class to 40+.  In retail I pushed myself and had several classes 40/40RR (even though RR has nothing to do with skill) and was in the 2nd overall guild on Dark Crag before we disbanned.  I was 1 or 19 players chosen to participate in the Core Tester Program where we worked first hand with the Devs.  You can see I have a good bit of history invested in Mythic, and thats not even touching on how long I played DAoC.

The end game in WAR is so incomplete and unenjoyable that after almost 2 years of playing I canceled my sub with Mythic and uninstalled the game.  If you think fighting NPCs in instances for loot is the quality RvR engame that we have all been waiting for you're sadly mistaken.  You should probably play DAoC to get an idea why so many loyal fans of Mythic are upset.

  • PhobiaPhobia Member Posts: 51

Just wanted to add that if you think bringing in a new class (as cool as the Slayers are) is going to breath new life into the game you're mistaken.

  • local93bclocal93bc Member Posts: 353

Well Ill admit. I can hardly log on to the game.

So when i saw the title Borehammer I have to agree.

The game really is fun with a good bunch of friends.

In all the time iv played this game i can think of 2 times i really loved my time playing.

Call it wht you want. Thats not a good sign.

Mythic has just took too literally the "Massive Multyplayer" definition of MMORPG, and ignored the RPG bit.

Fact is that WAR feels like a multiplayer game, like Battlefield. but instead of playing 12 vs 12 and in only one zone, you play with hundreds of players in a big map.

You log in the game, you lose or win and log out. If you like this kind of play you will obviously like WAR.

But if you expect to play an MMORPG, WAR will get boring really fast, because every other aspect of the game, although available, is not very well implemented and doesn't mix well together.

This game is a huge step back from DAOC IMO, if we could compare the 2 of them, that would be my vote:

    DAOC = 9

    Warhammwer = 5

    Way to go Mythic
