Agreed, but I also know alot of people who blow their cash on alot of pointless crap without thinking twice, and will defend their reasoning behind purchase to death. These are usually children/teens with wealthy parents who get whatever they want, and unfortunately, it does make up a good portion of the mmorpg playerbase because an mmorpg is seen as a past time/leisur/luxury. Sadly, the majority wont be as picky with a past-time as they will be with a necescity like food. Not to mention, a large part of the mmorpg community base isnt able to tell a broken game from 100% polished and complete game.
I really just hope darkfalls success/failure doesnt ride too much apon these factors. I dont want it to succeed because their are too many idiots that cant see the flaws, and at the same time, I dont want to see it fail because it has a few bugs. Zaxtor has some kind of creepy personal vendetta against Darkfall. It is his mission in life to trash the game in hopes that he can influence others to not play it.

These forums are for people who are intersted in the game. People like Zax feel it is their duty to hold others hands when it comes to evaluating a soon-to-be released game. Why? I have no idea.
He says it's cause the Devs piss him off, yet SoE has lied and deceived customers on a much greater level, yet I don't see his posts in the Vangaurd and EQ2 forums...
All kind of reminds me of the guy 'Snobbs' on the official boards who trashes Darkfall in every post he makes, never forgetting to compare DF to Spellborn and always including a link to a Spellborn video or the main site.
It's quite humorous the way you provide facts discrediting a game and/or it's associate producer who knowingly tells misinformation and obvious deceptive statements to mislead his own fans....
..and the only response the fans of said game can do is cry and throw out personal attacks against anyone who provides information that they don't like about their game. It seems to sting them and make them even more angry when such statements are backed up with facts and links.

It's actually analogous to the video A Perfect Circle made for their cover of "Imagine". The video is a montage of various footage taken from different news coverage on TV, about wars, etc; all things that you could have seen on the 6 O'Clock News. Individually, none of them seem "too much to air"... But, when APC strung them all together into a single video... it was pulled from MTV, and possibly other music channels, for being "too graphic". If you look on YouTube there might still be a vid where Maynard Keenan talks about it in a brief interview before the video itself.

Everyone knows Tasos' talks crap, he's the single worst thing about this whole development. Seriously, you are only 3 weeks away from the so called 25th deadline and they haven't even got most of the combat animations done yet (seeing all the last beta leak videos. All you see is the same slash animation over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... and oh yeah, they just added their second animation called "Overhead slash" ).
People should wake up that there was NEVER a beta and that the beta has actually just begun. And it shows.
For Aventurine's sake they better pospone the release for at least 2 more months.

For real! Anyone who actually took the time to read it could see it was quite a good post, and he had quite a bit to say about it himself, not to mention he was not really doing ANY bashing on the fanbois whatsoever. It was merely a good faith reminder that blindly believing doesnt magically make a game succeed.
I wont say I like all of the threads he makes, but this was was unbiast towards darkfall and more or less brought up the history behind past quotes, which their are always tons of people who dont know about. It hand plenty fair points which I highly respected.

Up till recently they could hide behind carefully scripted and orchestrated videos and screenshots to convince themselves the game was finished, ready, feature complete and ready for release and that the holy almighty Tasos was always right and spoke the truth.
But now the actual Beta has really started (another fact that there was NEVER a beta with players before at all) and the REAL beta leaks start coming out....

Haha I remember silkyVenom. Didnt read much on them because back then VG still had their mainboards. Wow I remember how much hype was surrounding VG. To the deffence of sigil, they where on the right track but lost to time and resources and a drug addict of a director.
FYI at this point after all the DF has promised, I think a bug cynic would call doomsday over the smallest bugs. Granted their are quite a few, but one of the few things I believe that came out of tasos's mouth was. "This game is currently further along than alot of other MMO's at the same stage". Or something along those lines. Nobody said it was perfect except for the fanbois, but I dont think that it is really as bad as what is being said. Most of what is said to be "horribly gone wrong" is mainly exadurated, or easy fixes.
A handful of the people saying the game isnt ready for release are surely telling the truth though, I read some real truth into alot of that, but that is also shown in the truth that DF was pushed back. Whether or not the can get it into a release worthy state by late feb is very controversial, but the devs clearly looked as the jan22 date, and looked at all the work needed to be done, and made a prediction that late feb was workable, so I will hold them on that. If it is not, we will get another delay and most likely, if they delay it beyond the feb date, it will likely be the last becasue this time, it will be a much more accurate prediction on what the developers actually need to get done.

No I remember frequently going to www.vanguardsagaofheroes.com - www.vgsoh.com or www.vanguardsoh.com . It was a pretty fancy forum too, and the [SIGIL] label was still prominent there. I'd been following a couple years before release, it was when they where finally releasing the game, they got rid of the mainboards and said thank you for whatever and that there where a handful of community fanboards that you could use instead. I got the nice sarcasm, but really im probably the last person on the earth to use it against because that is a very scary possibility, but from there on out, that is 100% bullshit to consider that at this point, because nobody knows whether they are actually going to do that. Most people like to stick to things they can make even semi-accurate assumptions on. Forcasting the future isn't one that is too easy. I may be a skeptic, but if this game is going to be made with "Polish" Id prefer it not take more time than it already has, they know they need to keep to the current timeframe, and if they half to work around it, it will be by 1 or 2 months at most in the most likely scenario.
The fact that the jan22 date stuck as long as it did, is because they probably felt that they where close, but changed it when it was off a little, apparently a little alot, but not so much that marketing strategies would be put towards xmas. In fact right now is probably the very best time to release a MMO, I cant think of 1 other mmo that has an impending release with even 1/10th the hype of DF. Either way, you shouldnt be getting too far ahead of yarself dere.

I want this game to be released, be amazing, be successful. A great MMO would only help the community as a whole. The gamer benefits the most, and the genre benefits as well. However, I am not foolish enough to judge anything sight unseen, and really, most adults know better than to do so.

My question is, if a player is in beta, and really enjoys the game along with many many other beta testers then what does all this mean? That Darkfall has had a rough time? Agreed, but I also know alot of people who blow their cash on alot of pointless crap without thinking twice, and will defend their reasoning behind purchase to death. These are usually children/teens with wealthy parents who get whatever they want, and unfortunately, it does make up a good portion of the mmorpg playerbase because an mmorpg is seen as a past time/leisur/luxury. Sadly, the majority wont be as picky with a past-time as they will be with a necescity like food. Not to mention, a large part of the mmorpg community base isnt able to tell a broken game from 100% polished and complete game.
I really just hope darkfalls success/failure doesnt ride too much apon these factors. I dont want it to succeed because their are too many idiots that cant see the flaws, and at the same time, I dont want to see it fail because it has a few bugs. But to any extreme, I think their is a line that is crossed, but it's to the individual user to determine for themselves what that line is.

It's quite humorous the way you provide facts discrediting a game and/or it's associate producer who knowingly tells misinformation and obvious deceptive statements to mislead his own fans....
..and the only response the fans of said game can do is cry and throw out personal attacks against anyone who provides information that they don't like about their game. It seems to sting them and make them even more angry when such statements are backed up with facts and links.

By the way... good job on compiling that. Yes, much of it is information that has already been known and/or discussed... but seeing it all in one place really paints a clear picture (which some very clearly don't like)
It's actually analogous to the video A Perfect Circle made for their cover of "Imagine". The video is a montage of various footage taken from different news coverage on TV, about wars, etc; all things that you could have seen on the 6 O'Clock News. Individually, none of them seem "too much to air"... But, when APC strung them all together into a single video... it was pulled from MTV, and possibly other music channels, for being "too graphic". If you look on YouTube there might still be a vid where Maynard Keenan talks about it in a brief interview before the video itself.

I think we will see plenty of "I told you so" topics arise after February 25th.
And yet there will be plenty of people still defending the game with every last breath they have.
Seriously, you are only 3 weeks away from the so called 25th deadline and they haven't even got most of the combat animations done yet (seeing all the last beta leak videos. All you see is the same slash animation over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... and oh yeah, they just added their second animation called "Overhead slash"

People should wake up that there was NEVER a beta and that the beta has actually just begun. And it shows.
For Aventurine's sake they better pospone the release for at least 2 more months.

The only fact i know so far is... the game has not come out yet... and that fact alone can say another fact..all you say about the game and its developers until game comes out..it is a speculation that is all...

I like the mind battles you two share, you are so kind to eachother but the pure difference is so dominent. I guess you are similar but on the exact opposite viewpoint. I would probably half to rate myself being slightly down the center because I dont really care so much of the turnout of darkfall, but I really wouldnt mind it doing well either. But that is certainly a heavy coin toss, and one side just happens to be jury rigged with a little extra weight.
For real! Anyone who actually took the time to read it could see it was quite a good post, and he had quite a bit to say about it himself, not to mention he was not really doing ANY bashing on the fanbois whatsoever. Haha I remember silkyVenom. Didnt read much on them because back then VG still had their mainboards. Wow I remember how much hype was surrounding VG. To the deffence of sigil, they where on the right track but lost to time and resources and a drug addict of a director.
FYI at this point after all the DF has promised, I think a bug cynic would call doomsday over the smallest bugs. Granted their are quite a few, but one of the few things I believe that came out of tasos's mouth was. "This game is currently further along than alot of other MMO's at the same stage". Or something along those lines. Nobody said it was perfect except for the fanbois, but I dont think that it is really as bad as what is being said. Most of what is said to be "horribly gone wrong" is mainly exadurated, or easy fixes.
A handful of the people saying the game isnt ready for release are surely telling the truth though, I read some real truth into alot of that, but that is also shown in the truth that DF was pushed back. Whether or not the can get it into a release worthy state by late feb is very controversial, but the devs clearly looked as the jan22 date, and looked at all the work needed to be done, and made a prediction that late feb was workable, so I will hold them on that. If it is not, we will get another delay and most likely, if they delay it beyond the feb date, it will likely be the last becasue this time, it will be a much more accurate prediction on what the developers actually need to get done.

No I remember frequently going to www.vanguardsagaofheroes.com - www.vgsoh.com or www.vanguardsoh.com . It was a pretty fancy forum too, and the [SIGIL] label was still prominent there. I'd been following a couple years before release, it was when they where finally releasing the game, they got rid of the mainboards and said thank you for whatever and that there where a handful of community fanboards that you could use instead. Then SOE put that station crap up for vanguard and that was that.
Or maybe there will be another one still, you know... to polish a few things, and release after the summer. And then maybe another, to release during chirstmas, so they can sell more copies. Good marketing and a great polished game, I'm sure the fanbois will love it.

I got the nice sarcasm, but really im probably the last person on the earth to use it against because that is a very scary possibility, but from there on out, that is 100% bullshit to consider that at this point, because nobody knows whether they are actually going to do that. Most people like to stick to things they can make even semi-accurate assumptions on. Forcasting the future isn't one that is too easy. I may be a skeptic, but if this game is going to be made with "Polish" Id prefer it not take more time than it already has, they know they need to keep to the current timeframe, and if they half to work around it, it will be by 1 or 2 months at most in the most likely scenario.
The fact that the jan22 date stuck as long as it did, is because they probably felt that they where close, but changed it when it was off a little, apparently a little alot, but not so much that marketing strategies would be put towards xmas. In fact right now is probably the very best time to release a MMO, I cant think of 1 other mmo that has an impending release with even 1/10th the hype of DF. Either way, you shouldnt be getting too far ahead of yarself dere.

Yes, we're all adults and capable of making our own choices regarding things we ultimately will purchase, but....as an adult, I personally like being able to make INFORMED decisions. If you're unwilling to look at all the facts regarding ANYTHING, really, then perhaps you should ask yourself WHY.
I want this game to be released, be amazing, be successful. A great MMO would only help the community as a whole. The gamer benefits the most, and the genre benefits as well. However, I am not foolish enough to judge anything sight unseen, and really, most adults know better than to do so.
Time will determine the outcome of the "Darkfall Saga," nothing more, nothing less. I, for one, intend to stay neutral, but cautious (due to the lengthy history of this game). There is nothing wrong with being hopeful, and yet still cautious. I think "be cautious" is EXACTLY what the OP is trying to say.
