My question is, if a player is in beta, and really enjoys the game along with many many other beta testers then what does all this mean? That Darkfall has had a rough time? Aventurine has struggled, and still do? Sure. That doesn't mean the game isn't fun, and it doesn't warrant all of the hate or trolling.
My question is, if a player is in beta, and really enjoys the game along with many other beta testers then why do you care what some troll says about the game?
Well I think it's mostly because of my fondness of these forums from a while back, and I don't want a random person to come here and get turned off from the game because of a bunch of trolls. Lately though it is starting to wear off. You will probably see me dissapear again haha.

Aha good point. No forums are safe anymore. Well I hope none of you guys miss out on the good that Darkfall has to offer. There will be many memorable experiences in this game, and I hope one day you guys experience them, but if not I guess I would never know about it right? With that i'm off, waiting for some servers to come back up so I can make some tutorials for my guild. Talking about Hello Kitty Online of course.
*Oh and just for the record I group rabid fanboys into the troll category as well. Didn't want you guys to think I was a discriminator.

To every poster here attacking the poster and not the post, each and every single one of you is fucking pathetic. If you have zero defense and absolutely nothing intelligent to say than keep your senseless tripe to yourself and grow a pair of balls. If you couldn't be assed reading because your porno is just about buffered then get the hell off, your post has no relevance to a thread if it doesn't pertain to the post. Is this all you guys can come up with in the face of real solid criticism, turning a blind eye and simply lashing out at the poster. I have not seen a single one of you shore up the guts to post any noteworthy defense. Absolutely pathetic.
PS: Thank you for the read, there were facts there that I never even knew about.
Yep i totally agree with this post , these people are as big a morons as the people that derail a entire thread based on someones grammer.
The guy didnt post anything thats not a fact as far as i can see and yes Tasos is a waste of space too, im greek and know fully how ignorant they can be ive also read the few comments that have been published in greek and the contradictions in them is beyond belief.
I hope this game is great yes liek most but do i think the lack of info is irregular ....? yes i certainly do and do i think people should preorder based on whats available to make a real and informed opinion based on this...? no i do not and tbh think you be a idiot to do so, but your money at end of day or in most cases here proberly ur daddies.

I can't speak for the OP but I suspect Darkfall attracts this kind of attention partly because of the attitude displayed by the developers combined with the blind acceptance of many of the game's followers.
As long as the MMORPG community accepts this kind of behavior from developers (and even *defend* this behaviror as though it is somehow praiseworthy) then there will be developers who think they can get away with it.
We as a community can raise our standards and expect better. And that is something that would help the entire MMORPG genre. That will never happen as long as there are those willing to listen (or worse, actually give such developers money),
This is exactly how I feel. Not just how I feel, but the way I now operate. I've already moved to a place where I expect much more from MMORPG developers than most have provided in the games that were released over the last 3 years. With a few notable exceptions (LoTRO and WAR), the games released over the last 3 years have sucked and suckered many consumers into handing their hard-earned money to developers who were nothing more than spin doctors with an agenda to take our money without really earning it.

So is that confirmed then, there are skill caps in the game? Otherwise Tasos wouldn't be able to max out these skills, he could still be increasing them, even if much more slowly than the early levels of DF production.

To my knowledge, there are no caps, but there is a line drawn at a certain number where it takes incredibly long to level the skill up.
Dunno though cause with the whole 100th Skill Level Special Ability that you can use and drops you back down to 99.... I've heard both.
This is probabley the best post ever on these forums to date. Unfortunatley all the fanboys will not read any of it but post how it is all wrong and they will pre-order anyways. Let them, I don't care it's their money. I saw some video on youtube of some bad melee combat and someone running away from 4 people chasing him for 10 minutes. That's just the gameplay. I would expect more from a game that has been in development for 8 years and is asking for pre-order money. WoW took a little over 6 years to make. All the best mmos take usually ~ 5-6 years to make.
Now you can argue that they have less people and then the game will be less satisfactory. Fine charge less for the game and/or let people in an open beta. This game will have a devout following of 10k users when the dust settles. You fanboys need to stop accepting mediocrity for games that charge the same money as everything else. You should pay for what you get, and in this case it's half as much.

Why is it when someone who had interest in the game and then loses it does so because hes a WoW player?
I am guessing your either new to story of Darkfall or just never bothered reading the OP.
The point of his post was that any and all news that comes from AV about the game comes from one source: Tasos, and if you try to follow everything he has said or promised, you see a pattern of BS. The post in no way tells you not to play the game, its just a history lesson of the practices behind it.
I just love how its always some fan of the game that has to automatically call someone with some form of skepticism a WoW player/ WoW kiddie. If thats your best guess as to why someone would feel skeptical of a game, Its kinda sad really.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Interesting read, OP. Thanks for the time and effort you put into it. However, in the end, it is all left to speculation. All we can do is sit on our hands and wait for the next big announcement. Whilst sitting on our hands, we research the game and uncover more details into the mystery that is Darkfall.
We speculate because we have no other option. What if the game is real and it will, indeed, be released on the set date? What if the game is fake and Aventurine continues to postpone the date?
What motivation does a company have for releasing information on a product that they have never accepted money for from potential customers? The pre-order is then in question. Have they released a pre-order? I don't believe so. Still, they are not accepting money.
On the idea of Darkfall being a scam. Where is the scam? They have not swindled money from anyone (some of you are thinking "not yet"). They have done nothing but repeatedly post-pone dates for beta and release. Perhaps the company is plagued by unfortunate events. They think the game is ready, and something happens which sets them back (which is quite common in any development/engineering industry).
If this were a scam, the only possible "scam" Aventurine would be party to is finagling fans of the genre. "Let's tell the fans that we are going to release the game on January 22 2009. Then a few days before launch, we'll tell them that we're not going to launch. That should really piss them off! MWAHAHA." It's entirely possible, the way people are I wouldn't put it past someone to do something like this. But I doubt this is the case.
My speculation, and it is only speculation, is that there is a dedicated team of developers working as hard as they can to release a good game. A team of developers who will not, no matter what, let their game die and become vaporware (hence approximately eight years of development).
Do I plan on pre-ordering? No. Do I plan on purchasing the game if it is released? Yes, if the game is playable and purchaseable by the public, I will gladly invest some money into it should it ever be released.
For now, the only option I have concerning this game is to wait for the next announcement. So I will be playing other videogames that strike my fancy until Darkfall is officially released.

And thank you for a well thought out and mature response.
It IS possible that this game could be more of a scam in the way of scamming investor money then it is trying to scam money for the game itself.
In the end, I have a feeling we will all soon know much more about it all.

The bible has been saying for thousands of years that there will be armagedon. Hasn't happend yet; the bible is vaporware. Stop buying bibles.
Where can I buy this game?
Oh and yes, the Bible IS Vaporware....
Duke Nukem Forever!
Might aswell say, if you like PvE in any way shape or form dont buy this game, we dont need you wasting server space.
and people wonder why we think this game will have the most horrid community.........

1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
