My mate started playing the game a few weeks ago and as a huge MMO fan i decided to see what all the fuss was about... so i got a trial and downloaded it ect only to be disapointed in the very poor game set up and how easy it was to complete missions in plenty of time... is it me or does any1 else find this very boring and drole?
All you gotta do is click the mission to set a waypoint and the ship does the rest then you pick the item up or drop it off and then head back if this is what the game is all about then it truly is one boring game for hmm how do i say this... amature MMO players.
I found the game lacking and after i completed the trial i was left baffeled as to how easy and boring the game was...if you ask me this game is very overated only thing they got right on this game is the graphics witch is questionable,
Not even the combat is hard...sigh maybe next time EVE maybe...

this is hilarious.
You clearly win, GF sir.

tbh .. 2 weeks is plenty of time to train frigate 4 & some EW slkills to about lvl 3 too, thus giving you early access to small-scale pvp.
missions in eve are exactly the same as quests in wow/eq etc .. they are a means to end, they are a 'grinding' mechanic inherant in EVERY mmo you will ever play, the only difference is in eve grinding missions just gets you stuff and not XP.
you put no effort into playing the game, & therefore you got little from it in return.
The answer is no... no its not what the game is about at all.
Check this out, plenty to do, right up your alleyway:

I do hereby decree that the this OP's post = FAIL. But seriously.
Its obvious based on the above statments that you never traveled out into Low-sec/No-sec regardless whether you wanted to try the pvp aspects of this game, nor were you able to try out any of the higher level missions (which is no fault of your own). It is also quite obvious that you played this game all but solo throughout your 7 day trial, as playing it with anyone else who has played any longer than you would have informed you of many of the things the other posters here have stated. I apologize if this comes off rather rude sounding, but seriously man....you have to actually EXPLORE the game before I feel you should be allowed to give an honest post about it. I personally recommend you re-install - get another trial key (use a different email address to do so) and perhaps ask a few people on MMORPG for some help in exploring some of what EVE has to offer you. Its not a game where things happen in the snap of your fingers, ill give it that, but it does offer a VERY immersive experience if you take the time to learn about it. You may even find some folks on here or in game willing to take you along for the ride on a few Level 2 or Level 3 missions. Then you'll see that its not so "easy".
Hell - I'll even be kind and extend my own personal hand to you. Re-install and then send me an EVEmail` (character name: Eizmund Drohner) - provided you can speak educated in game and not give EVE an instant bias when your do come back (should you come back) I will be happy to give you some helpful advice and try my best to show you some of the other aspects that EVE has to offer.
its like every game now, if the rewards arn't instant purples or gratification the game sucks.....such a joke.....than other people read these posts and dont play the game.
Playing : DayZ
Played : EVE, GW, SB, DF, AoC, WoW, WaR, L1, L2, Rift, AA, WS
Loved: DAoC, EVE, SB, old WoW, L2, GW2, EQ1-2
Missions are what you do to grind for ISK and learn how to play the game at a very fundamental level. If you just mission and mine, especially in highsec, you'll miss 99% of the game. Missions have gotten better since I've been playing (mid-2007) but they're still very lacklaster compared to more traditional one-off quests you see in other MMOs. If you want good PvE wormhole exploration, which is basically sandbox-style PvE content, is about the best you'll see.
If the OP fails for voicing his/her opinion, then you and everyone else...ever.....really, fail too. He said he doesn't like the game and gave reasons. A rational response would have been "You didn't like the game, but I do and I respect your opinion ." or even simply "To each his own.". Although I commend you on offering to help them understand the game and it's good points.
The OP didn't really offer any reason for his opinion. He just made a bunch of baseless statements which are terribly biased and uninformed. His opinion judging from his post is based off nothing more than doing the tutorial missions at best and he thinks that is the whole game.
Or there might be another reason the OP made this thread. That would be that he really doesn't give a rats ass either way and is just trolling.
Hmm, this is a tough one here but I am gonna go out on a limb here and judge based off the OPs 1 post count that he is indeed a troll and nothing more. I had hopes for this thread being amusing but too many people have now taken the OP seriously and gave him what he wanted.
i did make this thread besed on my game experiance and i didnt find the fact that the computer did everything for you i.e fire ur weapons and get you to ur mission zone ect all of witch i would rather do. i did get past all of the training missions and obtained another vessel but still found it boring. maybe @ higher lvl it gets intresting no idea.
My $0.02 (if you are serious) - decide what you want to do. PVP, PVE, crafter, or miner and then give it a try with a CORP. If your first CORP sucks, try a couple more before you give up. If you want to solo play - your life in EVE will be much more dificult (and in my opinion pretty dull) but not impossible.
If there's one thing I don't like, it's people playing a game for what? A week or two?, then do basically nothing, and expect everything to come to them, and THEN make a post about how bad the game was. 1-2 weeks aren't enough to get a real feel of eve, and this is sad. Mostly because it's the time most new players give Eve, due to trial.
Eve is such a game that makes you think, and do something about things. Not sit and expect directions. If you want directions, join an abusive corp, or go play wow or something.
My 4 cents, sorry. I'm frustrated.
Follow my tweet (:
I agree and disagree with this. If they had said Hey I don't like EVE then it would be cool. But to bash the game because you don't like it is wrong. EVE is not a boring game, anything but. Many people do not like it, IT IS AN UNFORGIVING GAME. A moment's inattention cost me a very expensive ship recently. I was upset, and then let the game go for a day or 2 till my skills were trained and bought a better ship. EVE, being a sandbox game, is what you make of it. It is open to your imagination. Some people prefer to be guided, EVE doesn't do that.
If you want a game where you have to select a class and follow a path or options of paths thru a game - you may not like what EVE has to offer. Then you can say I do not like EVE, to bash it because you do not like it is wrong. If EVE was a bad or boring game no one would be playing it. Last night some 45k people were online when I was on. Seems like tens of thousands of people disagree that it is boring.
The above is my opinion, I like EVE, obviously... there are parts of it that make me grind my teeth but i do like it.
Well, that's it right there then. You claim two weeks isn't enough to get into the game, and my response is that two DAYS should be enough to get into any game, if that game is actually fun.
I've tried EVE on a couple different occasions over the years...and every time I find myself falling asleep playing it. Which I guess would be ok, since that's how one gets XP anyway.
I can understand the lure of the sandbox nature....the open universe, the PVP, the politics and depth. But the core game mechanics are SO boring.
And that's why I guess I keep trying to like it...but just can't stay awake. Great game, but not for everyone.

the game is boring to you... not to other people. I agree with your last sentence, in fact that is the true beauty of EVE, it is a great game that is not for everyone. I would rather play a great game that is not for everyone then a game like WoW that everyone can play.
It's my right to voice my opinion which I did. My opinion was that his opinion was wrong and what he said was basless statements which amounted to nothing more than "Eve is boring cause I don't like it".
Contrary to popular belief opinions can be wrong.
If you were actually looking for a PvE game, I'd suggest getting with a corp and doing the higher level missions with them. EVE Online is primarily a PvP game. Not just PvP combat, but competition in every last regard. Some suggestions for you, if you are still on the trial:
- try playing the market. buy low sell high
- manufacturing goods. lots of places even in Empire space are lucratvive markets for shuttles and ammo
- PvP combat in Factional Warfare or with a corp
- Check out EVE University, a corp that helps players learn the game.
Hope that helps!
- RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
good troll, its like someone posting in the WoW forum "i dont know why you guys think this game is hard, i killed hogger in like an hour."
It was a good troll, but I will always play fanboy to a good troll. Helps that i like the game and think that only the boring would find EVE to be boring. It is what you make of it, if you have no imagination you won't like EVE. Not to say only those who are boring and/or unimaginative do not like EVE, some do not like space games, some like a tutorial that hasa "gentler" learning curve.

Absolutely. That's one of the reasons I play Spellborn.
I have a deep respect for EVE, and the people who play it.
you don't get it, that's fine.
but you didn't actually play the game

I played Eve for all of about 3 hours and that was about as much of the game I was able to stand. Much like Wharg0ul I found the game play boring. I want to like Eve, but can't.
If you took Eve, and replaced the flight controls with that of a something like X series, then I probably like it. I just feel like I'm not flying my ship, the computer is.
