I don't know about the OP...but I , for one, thank you. Who doesn't just LOVE penguins. This rocks so hard. I'm gonna MARCH on over to play..get it?...March....of the penguins...I gonna march to play....anyway.... Finally...a game for me!!!! I wonder if they have one with the cute white baby seals.....www.clubbabyseal.com....errrr....maybe that would not work out so well. Then again...one shouldn't club penguins either. I'm re-thinking this whole thing.
I do hereby decree that the this OP's post = FAIL. But seriously. Its obvious based on the above statments that you never traveled out into Low-sec/No-sec regardless whether you wanted to try the pvp aspects of this game, nor were you able to try out any of the higher level missions (which is no fault of your own). It is also quite obvious that you played this game all but solo throughout your 7 day trial, as playing it with anyone else who has played any longer than you would have informed you of many of the things the other posters here have stated. I apologize if this comes off rather rude sounding, but seriously man....you have to actually EXPLORE the game before I feel you should be allowed to give an honest post about it. I personally recommend you re-install - get another trial key (use a different email address to do so) and perhaps ask a few people on MMORPG for some help in exploring some of what EVE has to offer you. Its not a game where things happen in the snap of your fingers, ill give it that, but it does offer a VERY immersive experience if you take the time to learn about it. You may even find some folks on here or in game willing to take you along for the ride on a few Level 2 or Level 3 missions. Then you'll see that its not so "easy". Hell - I'll even be kind and extend my own personal hand to you. Re-install and then send me an EVEmail` (character name: Eizmund Drohner) - provided you can speak educated in game and not give EVE an instant bias when your do come back (should you come back) I will be happy to give you some helpful advice and try my best to show you some of the other aspects that EVE has to offer.
If the OP fails for voicing his/her opinion, then you and everyone else...ever.....really, fail too. He said he doesn't like the game and gave reasons. A rational response would have been "You didn't like the game, but I do and I respect your opinion ." or even simply "To each his own.". Although I commend you on offering to help them understand the game and it's good points.
The OP didn't really offer any reason for his opinion. He just made a bunch of baseless statements which are terribly biased and uninformed. His opinion judging from his post is based off nothing more than doing the tutorial missions at best and he thinks that is the whole game.
Or there might be another reason the OP made this thread. That would be that he really doesn't give a rats ass either way and is just trolling.
Hmm, this is a tough one here but I am gonna go out on a limb here and judge based off the OPs 1 post count that he is indeed a troll and nothing more. I had hopes for this thread being amusing but too many people have now taken the OP seriously and gave him what he wanted.
That is totally untrue. The guy posted exactly what is was that he found boring about the game. Even though his main complaint is PvE, which almost all Eve players will agree is boring, you guys still reply by slinging personal attacks at him.
Isn't it possible that maybe he is just telling the truth about his experience in the game? Maybe he isn't an idiot or a liar.... maybe he just has different taste in gameplay than you. I know it's hard to agree with something negative about the game you love... but how many people have to try the game and say the PvE is terrible before you see a grain of truth in it.
People keep saying that it's just like PvE in every other MMO and that just isn't the case. Lots of games have PvE quests that don't consist of click, undock, set destination, auto-pilot, dock. I think courier quests in safe space that you auto-pilot to are pretty pointless.... adding insult to injury, the quest rewards are terrible. Even the combat quests aren't much better. Undock, warp to encounter, kill a few ships that don't even dent your shields, warp back, turn it in and get your pittance. After you run about 10 missions, they start repeating... word for word. If he is unhappy with the PvE after just doing the tutorial, he is going to hate it even more when he starts doing regular agent missions.
It's funny to see how many of you fly off the handle and reply with personal insults whenever someone has anything negative to say about Eve. Of course, you guys also like to talk about how great the community is. You couldn't tell that from reading these forums, that's for sure. The helpful posts are generally far outnumbered by the insults and attacks. Even though the complaints about this game seem to be pretty consistent, you guys act like it's the first time anyone ever said the PvE was bad, or that travel time was too long and boring, or complain about real-time skill training.. or god forbid, mention in-game ISk sales. How many people can call crazy before you have to take a closer look at your own sanity?

Show me where I called him an idiot or a liar. All I said was that I am guessing he is a troll based off of how silly his post is and the fact it was his first post here. Those kinds of posts are ALWAYS trolls. I know it's hard to agree with something negative about the game you love... but how many people have to try the game and say the PvE is terrible before you see a grain of truth in it. Wow, I mean is that how you judge if you like or dislike something, based off what other people tell you ? Let's see, should I make a decision based on my 6 years of game time or base it on what a handful of people who played the game for the trial and feel qualified to tell me that the game is shit.

Ok dude seriously. You are way over exagerating how simple things are. To be fair however it is no secret that Eves pve is lacking. Let's be serious about this, Eve is a PvP game. Always was billed as such and always will be. Now WoW on the other hand is a PvE game and PvP is secondary. I wouldn't go to a WoW forums and moan about the PvP there being sub par compared to other PvP centroc games. The good news here though is that if you don't want to mission grind you don't have to. But if you do want more challenging PvE try some high level complexes or wormholes.
It's funny to see how many of you fly off the handle and reply with personal insults whenever someone has anything negative to say about Eve. Fly off the handle ? Damn, I have personally attacked the OP, called him a liar and stupid and now I am flying off the handle. Ok man whatever you say. I'd really hate to see what you would say if I actually did those things here. Of course, you guys also like to talk about how great the community is. You couldn't tell that from reading these forums, that's for sure. The helpful posts are generally far outnumbered by the insults and attacks. The Eve community is amazingly helpful, there are many threads on these forums where new people will post their questions and concerns and gotten very friendly and constructive advice and help. the difference is those people come here knowing they don't know more than the vets who have been around for years. Those other people actually ask their questions and ask about their concerns in a respectful manner without merely crying . Even though the complaints about this game seem to be pretty consistent, (the complaints are generally the same old crap that's been repeated before and proven wrong time and time again) you guys act like it's the first time anyone ever said the PvE was bad, (no one who plays Eve denys the pve sucks, it's people like you that keep beating that dead horse) or that travel time was too long and boring, or complain about real-time skill training.. (same old complaints that have been proven wrong time and time again) or god forbid, mention in-game ISk sales. (again proven that in game isk sales because of how monitored and governed it is has no ill effect on the game) How many people can call crazy before you have to take a closer look at your own sanity? Ah so now you wanna call me crazy ? Thank you for your insult.
But since you asked. I will never do what the masses tell me to do simpley because THEY SAY SO. If this is the way you think then I feel sorry for you, I really do man.
My mate started playing the game a few weeks ago and as a huge MMO fan i decided to see what all the fuss was about... so i got a trial and downloaded it ect only to be disapointed in the very poor game set up and how easy it was to complete missions in plenty of time... is it me or does any1 else find this very boring and drole? Nope it's not just you, missions are indeed boring. try some PvP in faction warfare or try some higher level complexes. Maybe try running some level 3 missions in a tech 1 frigate if they are so easy. All you gotta do is click the mission to set a waypoint and the ship does the rest then you pick the item up or drop it off and then head back if this is what the game is all about then it truly is one boring game for hmm how do i say this... amature MMO players. Try not using autopilot and travel times are cut down dramatically. Also try using autopilot in low sec or 0.0 space and see what happens. If you are gonna insult us by calling Eve players AMTEURS learn to spell it please, makes you look hmm how do I say this.... not so pro yourself. I found the game lacking and after i completed the trial i was left baffeled as to how easy and boring the game was...if you ask me this game is very overated only thing they got right on this game is the graphics witch is questionable, You judged the entire game based off the trial ? Wow man you must be the smartest man ever. You are the only person to ever say that Eve was easy. I really don't know what to tell you to play to match your massive intelligence or EGO. Not even the combat is hard...sigh maybe next time EVE maybe... Maybe you should try fighting something other than a high sec belt rat. Maybe I should go play WoW and do the first handful of missions then proclaim how easy and boring the game is.
So yeah, I thought I would respond to the OP directly. Not only are you wrong about your so called opinions, you are indeed nothing more than an arrogant fool. This is my opinion of you as a human being based off what you have posted here and nothing more. I do not care to know anything else about you because I have already made up my mind that there could not possibly be anything more to you other than these few words. Silly isn't it ?
Your opinions are indeed wrong because your opinions are not based on fact or reality. They are only based off a very limited and narrow view of the game, it's like looking into the ocean and seeing only 1 fish and then saying that is the only fish in the whole ocean. Your opinions are based off of flawed perceptions of game design. You did not take the time to learn more about the game or how the game needs to function for the game itself to actually work.
You have a giant ego that you need to feed. Hence your need to gloat about how easy and droll you find the game and then even go so far as to insult the game and playerbase by calling us amateurs. then people wonder why the Eve fans come in here and attack you.
Shhhh, if he/she can't figure that out(it tells you in the tutorial) leave them be.
I know about that... still don't feel like I flying tho.
I love the responses in the noob help chat. People constantly ask how to steer their ship, it's easily the most asked question in there... the response is always "you are the captain, not the pilot". Of course, the community seems split on whether or not there is a crew at all, and everyone agrees that frigates have no crew. So who are you giving those orders to, and why wouldn't the capsuleer be able to manually steer the ship with more precision?
The double-clicking in space to tell your ship, "go in this general direction", is super lame. This game would be better by leaps and bounds if you had the ability to manually steer your ship. You could pilot a ship in 3D space in other video games like 15 years ago. The decision during development to just have you give your ship suggestions is silly... especially considering the fact that you actually play the game AS a ship.
hey maybe if you guys keep feeding this troll, he'll get so full and explode and never troll again ....... that is your plan right?

If there's one thing I don't like, it's people playing a game for what? A week or two?, then do basically nothing, and expect everything to come to them, and THEN make a post about how bad the game was. 1-2 weeks aren't enough to get a real feel of eve, and this is sad. Mostly because it's the time most new players give Eve, due to trial. Eve is such a game that makes you think, and do something about things. Not sit and expect directions. If you want directions, join an abusive corp, or go play wow or something. My 4 cents, sorry. I'm frustrated.
Well, that's it right there then. You claim two weeks isn't enough to get into the game, and my response is that two DAYS should be enough to get into any game, if that game is actually fun.
I've tried EVE on a couple different occasions over the years...and every time I find myself falling asleep playing it. Which I guess would be ok, since that's how one gets XP anyway.
I can understand the lure of the sandbox nature....the open universe, the PVP, the politics and depth. But the core game mechanics are SO boring.
And that's why I guess I keep trying to like it...but just can't stay awake. Great game, but not for everyone.
the game is boring to you... not to other people. I agree with your last sentence, in fact that is the true beauty of EVE, it is a great game that is not for everyone. I would rather play a great game that is not for everyone then a game like WoW that everyone can play.
Absolutely. That's one of the reasons I play Spellborn.
I have a deep respect for EVE, and the people who play it.
First of all. "I would rather play a great game that is not for everyone then a game like WoW that everyone can play." When you say what you just said you are using "then" and "than" incorrectly. What you were trying to say is you would rather play a great game that is not for everyone than a game like wow that everyone can play. Sorry but retardation of the English language frustrates the hell out of me.
Another thing that frustrates the hell out of me are people like Wharg0ul. These people are the ones who loved Nirvana at first, but when everyone else started to like them they would begin to hate them. People like you (yes im generalizing and dont care) are extremely stupid. You remind me of a friend I once had as a child. He bought a BB Gun and I liked the one he had so I asked my mother to buy me a BB gun. We went to K-Mart and I saw the same gun he had but he whined and complained until I chose a different one because he didn't want anyone else to have the same gun he had. This is exactly how people like him grow up. They turn into Wharg0uls. People who will love something until someone else loves it or has it. Once it's mainstream and other people know about / like the same things they like they will automatically "hate" the item/band/whatever it is that they loved so much before. But the funny thing is they dont really hate it. They will just say that they do so they can be different knowing all along that they still love that thing that they now pretend to hate. It's a funny world out there. Odd people all over the place.
Shhhh, if he/she can't figure that out(it tells you in the tutorial) leave them be.

frigates do have crew, about a dozen according to prime fiction. im sure that you think that its silly, but you havent made a mmo recently so i think ill trust ccp over you.
but if you dont like eve, why not go post on the dark prophecy forums?
It's boring. No skills involved to play. At least in WoW you actually had to press some buttons for abilities and what not (and WoW sucks bad enough). I'm sorry but clicking on something and selecting 1500 range, then hitting the attack button isn't very fun for me.

Its only like that at the begining, Just like wow where you pretty much run up stand there and auto=attacking and doing one or 2 skills your have available at the beginning. Do that against a experienced player and you'll get your ship ripped out from under you in about 2 seconds, as you becomed, Webbed, scrammed, jammed and Neuted or just constantly out ranged by him keeping his distance and pounding at you with his longer range guns.

Well, I thought that one was clearer than the crew count on bigger ships issue. It seems the community can't agree on the crew size of ANY of the ships. You're right, I haven't ever made an MMO... or video game of any kind, but I have played a lot of them and I know what I like. SWG let you pilot a ship, as well as walk around in it.. and on the ground for that matter, so it's obviously workable in an MMO.
Some of the frigates list a crew of three in these same screens, like the Punisher and Probe, but most are listed as only one. Some of the official fiction I read on the Eve site seems to back-up the argument that ships do not have crews, while others clearly mentioned a crew. This is something that bothers me a little. I personally fall in the "ships have a crew" category. But I know from reading the forums that a lot of people disagree. How can CCP expect to have any compelling PvE story-telling when they can't even clear up an issue as simple as whether or not ships have a crew?

As Xennith said only the people who read none of the chronicles think that Capsuler ships have no crew, Some frigates can have no crew as the original vessel may not of had much if anything past a bridge crew to begin with. All the Capsule does is remove the need for a bridge crew to relay information to and from the Capt.
Now the problem with being able to steer the ship more precise is two-fold, One server load from real-time flight would drastically increase lag from the increase of server-client communication. Second is that the scale of the game makes it in 99% of the time pointless. There is only a minor need for it in a few cases involving the need to tack on a in-bound interceptor run, but besides that this game is not a Space fighter game but a Space Capital ship game. So the first time it takes you holding your joystick to the right for 2 minutes to get your battleship to finally do a 180 and even then you'll want to go back to the "orders" systems that we currently have.
Now in games like JGE and DarkSpace they use fighter scale not Capitals so the directed control makes much more sense, and I whole support. but the reality of it is that in EVE you have the equivlmant of ISDs plowing through the asteroid fields not the nimble little fighters dodging asteroid fields.

The community may not be able to but CCP has always said , in all of thier chronicles that yes Capsuleer ships have crew with the exception of some of the smaller frigs which had so few crew to begin with they we're able to be outright replaced with a capsule. All the Pod allows a pilot to do is replace the bridge crew.

I don't dislike the current method of navigation, I just think it should be an option as well as manual piloting... maybe it wouldn't be much fun in bigger ships, but it would make frigates more fun to fly, at least in combat. It might even be nice to see what it looks like when you ship is actually over the acceleration gate as it activates.
Several of the posters here have spent the last few days trying to convince me that everyone uses frigates anyway, or at least that they should.... It is nice to see someone tell it like it is. I appreciate your helpful and informative post, even though I continue to believe that more precise manual piloting would be an improvement over the current "double-click" in space method, at least in a frigate where we can mostly agree that one guy is at the helm.

Not everybody is good at this kinda thing... beside it was minor transposing of a word that has a simular spelling. I do it with "what" and "want" all the time. It's people like you that frustrate me.

You have very good point... never really give that much thought.
Im doing lvl 4’s in Absolution + faction fit when you get to that lvl EvE is so funn.
Ther is much in EvE ( and they add thinks every few months is scary how good it is).
I respect youre opinnion but :
1, play it for 30 days
2, go to low sec
3, join corp if you can (do fleet fights)
4, You can mine, be pirate, by pirate hunter, do mission , explore plex, explore WH, be trader, be siantist, be carier and i bet i forget fews.
So much to do so litle time.
Ther is think to it… if you are to young ( 10 / 15 ) you wont be able to see the all picture of the politics going on. Even that i know few mature ppl at that age.

ok, EVE isn't for you then, np. Hope you find the game you are looking for.
I know. Hopifully JGE or BP fulls the role... I just have to wait, and see.
yep, good luck with those try x3, it was fun, good bye.

Isn't it possible that maybe he is just telling the truth about his experience in the game? Maybe he isn't an idiot or a liar.... maybe he just has different taste in gameplay than you.

Shhhh, if he/she can't figure that out(it tells you in the tutorial) leave them be.

frigates do have crew, about a dozen according to prime fiction. im sure that you think that its silly, but you havent made a mmo recently so i think ill trust ccp over you.
but if you dont like eve, why not go post on the dark prophecy forums?
eve = point and click
Shhhh, if he/she can't figure that out(it tells you in the tutorial) leave them be.

-----Zero Punctuation Eve Online Review-----
As Xennith said only the people who read none of the chronicles think that Capsuler ships have no crew, Some frigates can have no crew as the original vessel may not of had much if anything past a bridge crew to begin with.

Evrybody knows that eve is boring. Not exactly new info.
