Mythic im sure realizes they have a huge flop on their hands. Warhammer is dubbed as one of the most boring games. Mythic needs to realize this and if they have any talent left, do something drastic to save the game because at this point its going to be like Vanguard SoH, barely surviving, low pop and even thats a better game.
mmm I don't know what the subscription numbers are but I haven't seen any population issues on WAR lately. I guess it depends on which server you play. Just last night I was running with 2+ full warbands (@50ppl) across the T2 zones in WAR. Nothing boring about it! ;o)
I suppose you forgot they keep merging the servers, each merge causes a bigger imbalance between factions. One or two servers that are merged from the many servers they had before does not mean large population. Games like these dont grow, they dwindle into oblivion. Oh and im not sure how you consider running into a warband as "not boring". Does it = fun and balanced pvp? no. That warband is off to attack undefended keeps, hopping back and forth for easy keep PQs because theres nothign else to do.
Geez I haven't posted in a while, but to petition to close down a game, that people love and have a solid players base of 250-300k and have plans in the future for the game with expansions is a completly stupid idea.
I guess the trolling of Darkfall is out of style now, so you have to find another.
I Petition that your Petition should be taken down.
Let us establish exactly what people think should be done about Warhammer
/bump when you vote so we can get a large and representative sample
Why people ever thought that WAR was going to be good is beyond me. Just how many EQ clones do we need on the market with their shity point and clicky combat?
The MMO market needs to move on, games like Darkfall, Global Agenda, Mortal Online that utilise real time FPS style combat are the new breed of MMOs that will hopefully kill of the old style point and click, sit back make a cup of tea MMOs.
AoC and Tabula Rasa were hybrids that did not go far enough.
Lets kill off these shity point and clicky MMOs and embrace the new breed !
Raaaaaaaaaa ! Raaaaaaaaaaa!
Kill WAR now !!!

Petition to end WAR? That's ridiculous to me. All games can't be all things to all people. And no all games don't deliver everything they claim. That applies to most things. It's called reality! ;-) I've been playing WAR since open Beta and have been very satisfied with it. Not everyone likes it but that's ok! There's a healthy enough pop where I don't see it going anywhre for a while petition or not.
No one actually believes they will close down Warhammer because of a petition. The reason why a petition like this isnt rediculous though, is because it shows a very realistic ratio. That the majority of players dont care or think it should be shut down. Its all in the numbers.
What a bs. As player you are also way out of line for thinking that a game that you dont like should shut down because you think so. It is not only ignorant, but also a very childish and selfish attitude. Having the illusion that your PREFERENCE should rule over others preference.
Furthermore, this is primarily about business. If Mythic will make money with this game, then there are no reasons at all to shut it down and it also proves that your opinion doesnt mean a thing, except for yourself.
And comparing Vanguard to WAR in a general way is just useless. RvR plays such a large role in WAR and totally not in VG, that this alone makes comparing those 2 games in a general way useless.
The suits at Mythic will decide the fate for WAR and thats simply about profit. You and your opinion about what makes a game good wont change that. Only your wallet makes a tiny tiny difference.

Are you incapable of reading comprehension? Im not even sure you read much less understood my post, because your response puts claims where none existed.
You are calling me "way out of line" for thinking that no one really expects a poll to decide the fate of the game? /facepalm.
Read it again, this time actually "READ", its not hard. No where does it say I think the game should be shut down. In fact, first line says otherwise. Its quite obviously Mythic will keep the game running as long as even an ounce of profit is being made, the moment it starts losing profit or no longer becomes worth the effort and maintenance (aka a liability), it will disappear. Im not sure if you heard, but there were layoffs at not only EA but Mythic as well. If WAR proves to be a liability, especially now with this economy, it has a greater chance of actually going away.
Heres facts: This poll shows that a HUGE number of people who bought WAR have become more than disappointed with the product. In fact, If Mythic and EA would reimburse players who payed $50+ for a horrible game, im sure there would be less of a problem. As it stands though, this poll is very relevant. I mean, look at the ratio. Thats bad. If people actually are upset to the point that they think, even if its unrealistic, that the game should just disappear, then you know Mythic did something wrong. You cant really argue against this and be logical at the same time. This is pretty much a very revealing message to Mythic and their publisher EA.
Furthermore, Comparing Vanguard and WAR is and can be done. You make the excuse of rvr and pvp vs pve as a means to say they cant be compared. Thats ridiculous, of course they can. All are player vs a challenge, games are products, mmorpgs rely on subscription numbers to survive. Thats not depended upon gameplay features, the products are identical as a mmorpg game that must have subs to survive. Its as simple as that.
RvR is one of WARs biggest flaws in fact. MMORPGs are balancing acts, a heavy focus on one feature while under developing everything else causes a lopsided product. Vanguard is the same, its sacrificed much needed features to focus on one thing, and the cause is an underdeveloped title. WAR is a badly designed title. This is a factual statement. You can still enjoy a badly designed title, as some are proving, but it doesnt change the fact that its design is full of flaws. Mythic tried to too hard but did too little, if thats even possible, and the little they did do was over planned, over controlled, and in the end had the opposite effect of what they planned.
My final statement to you is...learn to read please. Learn to comprehend, in fact, read the entire post before commenting on statements you made up or assumed, rather than what actually exists.
You realise this poll is useless at best, 3 of the 4 options are negative. If it was writen; do you feel that War should be shut down?: 1) Yes 2)No 3) Not sure, it would have been more meaninful. However that does not address; Do you currently play War, Have you played War, When did you play War? Adding these questions and we start to get qualitative answers. What we have now is a troll poll. Not unlike a Troll toll. You have to pay to get into this boys soul.
Nothing boring about it! ;o)
That's the only excuse you people have since the game launched.
It depends on wich server you play. Go roll a high pop server. Bla bla bla. Yada Yada Yada.
Sorry tho. But at the moment there are basically only 2 real high pop servers left. Phoenix Throne (US) and Karak Eight Peaks (EU).
You can't expect everyone to reroll to any of these servers.
It's Mythic's fault entirely to make the game so stupidly dependend on high population and then launch with way way too many servers!
So it's their job to make sure their PAYING customers get the experience they are paying for!
They damn well know they can close down cq. merge a hell lot more servers, but they don't because it will be a TOTAL face loss for Mark Jacobs (if it isn't already).
Mark Jacobs is more busy saving his ass then caring for his own paying customers. And rather let them rot on low pop servers.
-----------------
At this moment I have a hell lot more respect for Funcom and Craig in general of how they managed to turn Age of Conan around lately.
Then the endless and pointless carrot feed Mythic is throwing out to their customers, instead of fixing their darn game!
Why would you close a game down? People enjoy playing it, just because you don't doesn't mean that no one else can. Very one-sided poll also. Goes from "Not sure" to "Uber" Try having an objective view to the whole situation and think of the current playerbase that enjoys the game and not only you who cannot.
Hey, we all look out for our own self interests, and some folks feel this game is broken in ways that cannot be resolved due to flaws in its core design.
As such, it is draining resources from Mythic who should be working on DAOC 2, (IMO of course) or to release a good version of WAR that more people can enjoy.
Just because 50-100K people enjoy a game doesn't mean the rest of us feel a great IP should go so underutilized.
I think I once read that WAR's engine was based on the original DAOC one and improved. That was probably a mistake if true.
While I personally don't like/play WAR, this poll is one of the most biased and idiotic pieces of drivel that I've seen to date. How you can actually defend a poll that lacks any degree of logic is beyond my comprehension. I might think that WAR is a travesty to the Warhammer franchise, but I still respect the fact that other people might actually enjoy the game even if I do not.
From a statistical standpoint, if the OP desired accurate responses, he/she should have created a poll with a broader spectrum of answers to reflect the obvious diversity in the opinions of the respondents. As a result, he/she comes across as little more than a troll from my perspective.

He's only been playing half of Warhammer for over half a year.
I wouldn't take him too seriously.
Also, Funcom was able to turn a corner a bit on AoC because they fired the guy in charge of the mess. Mark Jacobs is in charge of the trainwreck at Warhammer, but he's the head guy at Mythic, so he won't fire himself. Basically he was in charge on implementing most of the crappy ideas into the game (giving it the stamp of approval), so if he has to scrap major portions, that's admitting he failed as director. You don't need to look any further for evidence of this than the craptastic crafting system in Warhammer, where you only can make only a talisman or a potion. Clownshoes, as people say.
Guess who was the lead and sole head of the crafting division in Warhammer? Mark Jacobs. So.. does he fire himself from that given how boring and asinine it is? Basically, Mythic is being run like when Hitler was running the German Army. Instead of letting the generals do the work, the retard micromanaged every single thing and lost the war.
Ironically, Jacobs is losing the "WAR" (pardon the pun) all by himself by doing the exact same thing. Bad decisions.

I don't play on either of those servers and haven't had any population issues. I understand there are other servers with population issues, my comments were regarding the servers I play on. I can't speak to the others since I haven't been there, but know Mythic has been merging servers and hope that will help with this since population and balance is very important to WAR.

Are you just using 2 servers that have already been mentioned as being high pop without looking at the server selection screen?
I can tell you now for the EU servers that out of the 17 servers 5 of them are marked as low/low and all of the others are marked Med/Med.
The Low ones are;
EN Karak Izor Core
EN Burlok RP
DE Huss RP
FR Monatnas Negr Core
ES Har Ganeth RP
Thats taken at 20:25 pm GMT.
This should represent peak playing times for the EU.
Don't just post the server names that you've picked off this thread without checking the real servers first.
This should put his post into perspective for you.

Oh no no. I'm not saying you don't know what you are talking about, sorry I wasn't clear.
I believe you are 100% right in most of it. If there is someone who joins any game, what level do they go to? Max level? T4? No, they go to.. T1 or noob level.
Warhammer has never had a problem with people trying or signing up for the game. Those people have been in T1 and T2, then something happens and they all go home. The point about there not being robust populations is for T3/T4 on most servers because that's where the slowdown/boredom is. You even state that you've never even ventured out of T2, so how can you comment on the populations where the game really matters, especially for the LOWLOWS? Games don't stay running for long if people are only trying T1 noob areas then quitting before endgame.
Even on LOW/LOW servers like Ironclaw you see new trials in the game, or older people rerolling alts, so at that level you will always see people because you level so fast. I don't think you are reading posts from people who have been entrenched in the lands you dare not venture, and read just how dire the situation is on 3/4 of these remaining servers.
I'm just saying that for purposes of overall population discussion, you don't really know what's going on because you've never poked your head out of Marsh of Madness and such, that's all.
You are like someone who lives in San Diego and sees perfect weather year round and remarks how spectacular the United States' weather always is because it's always sunny, clear and warm. Forgetting that the vast majority of people live where there are hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, droughts, blizzards and snowstorms.
It really makes me sad that have to be us (costumers) paying the big part of a game development without never going to smell any profit from it.
One thing is ppl paying and they keep adding content so game keeps the fun and ppl whiling to pay for more... other thing is launching a game that aint ready.. not even 20% of it (yes i played, the fkg BASICS of the game wasnt redy and still arent.. stuff like GAMEPLAY, push cast and it should work, but DOESNT) and ppl paying it just cause is fun.
Dudes, how many stuff are fun?... many things are fun in this world. But, it doesnt mean they deserve to be payed for.
I rly think that this mmo industry is becoming a bit dangerous for us costumers. Since we start paying for services of cheap low quality or completly incompetent designed/coded or whatever.
It will be all our fault that some day we wont ever see the launch of a mmo with its basics working as they should be as minimal requirment. We will start paying for complete garbages everytime a game is launched and they keep keeping the money.. make new garbage 2 years later when the money we gave is over... and repeat all over again. And we end the next 20 years, crying and screaming with each others just cause we kept paying for garbage.
Open your eyes guys, get some common sense and start beeing more realistic about this companys. All is fine, they make imba podcasts that ppl identify themselfs with... bit like propaganda style and then nothing is as they said.
All games got problems.. server stabilitys, bugs and etcs.. even wow had this probs, wich is normal after launch.. but thats fixable stuff. But common basics of a game.. like cast working, meleeing working (no, meleeing someone that is at 10 meters distance from you, aint working), mounting working (ohh the imbaness of dismounting and char fall over the floor) BASICS guys.
WTB some kind of entity that shut down this games that use all kind of propaganda, cheap one even.. like youtube podcasts and etcs, and then fail to deliver the basics of a game working. No one defend us costumers, we just keep paying them cause "IS FUN" and ofc cause we lack alternatives... and more we pay to this ppl... less alternative youll get in the future. Companys will start releasing games completly not finished just cause morons like us are paying them.
STOP PAYING YOUR MONEY TO THIS COMPANYS CAUSE YOULL BE PLAYING SHIT GAMES IN NEXT TEN YEARS.. we better start defending ourselfs from this companys and assure a quality products in years to come.
You know what happened to WAR I will tell you, EA happened to WAR. EA has wrecked this MMO, they pushed it out to quick and didn't work on the fundementals enough. I had a buddy that actually worked on WAR and he said the game wasn't ready to be released when it was, and alot of the people who were working on it felt the same way. Honestly the game has serious potential, it is a true class game with class roles, Tanks, healers, and range damage, I really believe are turned off of it because they think of a Tank as a Paladin from WOW. He can dish it out as well as take it, when in reality a tank is just there to protect the damage dealers, and hold a line. Some of the concepts in WAR are over the heads of many of the people playing it and I feel that is one of the biggest reasons people are turned off of it. Now stepping away from that I really believe WAR will become a hit but it will take more patches to get it there, and of course the right direction from the Devs.
It's a cartoon, just like WoW. Why do you need 2 of the same game?
Kill it.
I've never been a WoW player, but have tried it a few times. Most recently a few weeks ago. I don't think they can be considered the 'same' game. WAR is more pvp/rvr oriented where WoW is more pve. I've tried the WoW pvp, and to me anyway there's NO comparison. In WAR pvp you stand a fighting chance when at the bottom of your tier. In WoW, you get one-shot. Literally. It's pathetic!

I just enjoy playing the games and talking to like minded ppl (when they are about)

The negative backlash is a natural response to developers actions. If developers would stop hyping their games to the sky and then delivering a half finished POS, people wouldn't be upset with them.
I don't think people want games to fail, but instead they are just sick and tired of deceptive developers telling half truths. The bonds of trust can only be broken so many times before people lose faith.
In all honesty, this market should be filled with fierce competition with a few heavy weights slugging it out for top honors and a handful of fringe games catering to more specific audiences. Instead there is an whispered mantra from gamers about "this game has potential" and "give it a year and it will be great". The backlash is expected and only going to get worse if developer keep this pace going.
Not to say that it doesn't go to extremes on both sides, but that is the reality of the situation.

In referance to this Poll please fill out the following.
mmm I don't know what the subscription numbers are but I haven't seen any population issues on WAR lately.

No one actually believes they will close down Warhammer because of a petition. The reason why a petition like this isnt rediculous though, is because it shows a very realistic ratio. That the majority of players dont care or think it should be shut down. Its all in the numbers.
No one actually believes they will close down Warhammer because of a petition. The reason why a petition like this isnt rediculous though, is because it shows a very realistic ratio. That the majority of players dont care or think it should be shut down. Its all in the numbers.
What a bs. As player you are also way out of line for thinking that a game that you dont like should shut down because you think so. It is not only ignorant, but also a very childish and selfish attitude. Having the illusion that your PREFERENCE should rule over others preference.

Stupidest f-ing "poll/Petition" I've ever seen here and there have been some really retarded ones.
mmm I don't know what the subscription numbers are but I haven't seen any population issues on WAR lately. I guess it depends on which server you play. Just last night I was running with 2+ full warbands (@50ppl) across the T2 zones in WAR. Nothing boring about it!

At this moment I have a hell lot more respect for Funcom and Craig in general of how they managed to turn Age of Conan around lately.
Then the endless and pointless carrot feed Mythic is throwing out to their customers, instead of fixing their darn game!
Cheers

This should put his post into perspective for you.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Finally! Someone has actually exhibited some common sense.

The Low ones are;
EN Karak Izor Core
EN Burlok RP
DE Huss RP
FR Monatnas Negr Core
ES Har Ganeth RP
Thats taken at 20:25 pm GMT.
This should represent peak playing times for the EU.
Don't just post the server names that you've picked off this thread without checking the real servers first.
I wouldn't take him too seriously.
??
Take what too seriously? My comment that I haven't see any population issues? Why wouldn't you take that seriously? I've been playing on these servers for several months. I know what I'm talking about! ;-)
Best idea ive read here in months. The only answer i have is that people love to see games fail. There are many MMO's i do not and have not played for one reason or the other but if they remain available or not has no bearing on my life what so ever. Just today there was some info released about a new game coming from Funcom and about 4 posts into the thread someone was screaming fail. Makes me wonder if these people do or ever have played any of the games they think should be shut down. Oh well, i guess it keeps them off the streets.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Kill it.
Only reason I'd want WAR to be shut down is that Mythic could resume work on IMPERATOR...

I agree with you and thats how I like to play it.
I as a gamer gain nothing from spewing nothing but hate or paranoia over a game I do not like or a games company.
