Why would anyone want to close down a video game thousands of players enjoy?

You may not like it but a lot of players do.

    Playing: EvE, Ryzom

The Petition begged the question and offered four alternatives along a range. If you read the title of the thread carefully it ends with a "?" which also begs the question "should we or shouldn't we". It is an open question.

I have to say I really dislike sloppy and lazy readers. In future Swanea concentrate carefully on the text before you offer a knee-jerk response :) There's a good boy.

Should we or shouldn't we, what? Act like self-important, condescending twats with a thirst for fascism and demagoguery?

Honestly, if canceling your own subscription isn't an effective enough "petition", then what exactly are you driving at? Spell out the "subtle difference" for this sloppy and lazy reader, please.

    Haha, based on what? :)

The fact that there are more than half the servers that they had when they reported they only had 300k~ players left? :)

Funny, I imagined you'd be the first to jump on "dodgy" numbers usually.

No matter the numbers im still amazed/ disgusted  that some would want to close a game they obviously have no interest in. What joy can someone get from that?  Hey OP, how about a list of games you approve of and those you do not, that way we will all know what will be around long enough to warrant our investment of playing time. Maybe devs should come to you and let you decide if a game is even "worthy" of release in your eyes. I have not played Warhammer and most likely never will but to those who choose to do so i just say im glad they have found something of interest to enjoy and would add they should be thankful that the OP and his group of brownshirts do not inhabit their game world.

Nah, people only argue statistics the way he did in the past is when its a game they don't like, not when their own game is the subject of the argument.

    Otherwise, its stats ahoy!

Don't shut it down, just put more people on creating DAoC 2.  Pleanty of people like War but to me its not worth going back.

War is fun! Sure there are a few issues, but ALL games have em. WAR is the best PvP MMO out there right now, period, and I have played many many games.

    BTW, this thread is fail.

Wow, the lengths some people will go to to bash a perfectly fine game...

If you're not happy with WAR, you can always go back to playing WoW and let the rest of us that enjoy actual PvP and games that dont depends on primary colors continue to play WAR. WAR isnt for everyone. The developers said as much way before the release date was ever announced. It's not just another WoW clone. If that's what you wanted, then you can always go back to playing WoW. WAR has a darker, more violent feeling to it that WoW, something that that game has always lacked. There's no actual war going on in WoW, it may be called Warcraft, but it's there's more farming gear and replaying the same dungeon over and over than there is actual battles between the two factions. WAR brings the war to the front and keeps it there. There's no cooperation between the two factions, it's an all-out bloodbath. There's no happy-fuzzy middle ground for little kids to feel safe in.

I suppose people were just expecting to hop into WAR and just continue on doing what they were doing all through WoW, and when they realized it was a diffirent game (big shock there), they started crying that it was a bad game. All the bad points and/or problems I have heard from people about WAR have boiled down to basicly 'It's now WoW' and 'It's not finished'. Well ofcorse it's not WoW, you knew that when you picked up the box in the store. And does anyone remember what WoW looked like when it was first released? Hardly anything worked, and the UI was a far cry from what it is now. Any game that just comes out is going to have bugs, more so with any MMO, and it's always going to be changeing, things worked on to make them better. Compairing WAR's UI and apperance and list of bugs to WoW's when it first came out, Mythic did a much better job on release than Blizz did. People need to get their facts straight and realize that not everyone shares their opinions before they start crying for a game to be shut down.

After playing T4 for months. I said wait a few more patches especially for those 4 cities. This game has potential but it is great fun. The community is different for each server. When you get into the community and the guild rivalry, this game truly springs. I took 3 or 4 days off and am resub-ing. Can't wait to be back. No matter if my server so far is getting owned by 150 people or so in ORvR and we are outnumbered but it's all about getting active.

If you want to play this game, do. If you love WoW and Raiding for the same gear over and over again with no purpose or teamwork on a large scale (like 100's of people). Yes i'm biased but it's only because WoW is dead for me. Each expansion drives old players away but with all the hype, new players come.

Closing WAR would be the worst thing in the world for those who left WoW especially for this game. AoC is too buggy and unfinished (or so I heard can't judge it) and Darkfall is too grindy. WAR is for me with RvR on large scale, on 6 mans or 12 mans, on guild WBs, and the PvE which can be comparible to Raids in WoW but not as fun and more easier (especially Bastion Stairs, Sigmars Crypts, and Warpblades for Order) LV is more challenging and half of you don't know what i'm talking about so I'll just shut up

A recent devchat said they weren't coming any time soon so I wouldn't recommend that :)

'Nuff said. Albeit, I think they launched better than most MMOs and only because they had a huge amount of servers, I think the reason they have less now is because they don't need as many, and besides, if you want to play a really populated game, there is this one called World of Warcraft, check it out. I think the game should stay as long as it have enough players that enjoy it.

For me it was a big dissapointment since it feel that it was to far off from the tabletop and pen and paper RPG game, those have a great system that would fit a MMO perfectly but instead they used something very close to Wow.

That turned of many of Warhammers fans (like me and actually all Warhammer fans I know, all people I know that still plays it have never played the tabletop or RPG game).

Still, that I am dissapointed and dont feel that they really made a MMO out of Warhammer but instead took Wow and pasted in a simplified version of the old world on top of it doesn't mean that the game should close down.

Personally I hope that GW goes over to MJ and Barnett and force them to change the game to be closer to Warhammer, kinda the opposite to the NGE of SWG. The world is very good and I love to walk the streets of Middenheim and get that dark horror feeling with black humour that only Warhammer fantasy roleplaying game delivers. :)

Why even post the topic? Ofc it wont close down, they need to recoup some money and have further expansions in the pipeline.

Wasnt the OP the same person posting all about Failcoms latest venture? Do you work for Failcom?

Is the OP actually this person, Marianne Kristiansen ? A Failcom employee?

I think it's a bit presumptuous and naive to think that taking a poll could influence Mythic to actually shut down their game.  I'm a fan of the Warhammer World and I think that WAR has done a disservice to that mythos, but that doesn't mean I think they should shut it down.  I just don't play it.  And it doesn't mean they won't improve the game in the future.  They'll need support in the form of money and time to do so, though.  So let the people who enjoy the game for what it is continue to give that support.

I would rather suggest that they use whatever funds they may have and try to work on some kind of replacement or overhaul for the current incarnation of the game.  I'd be willing to give them a second chance at WAR, but not the way it runs today.

Tried to do the free trial that my buddy sent me and cant install, from what ive read i guess others are having problems also. Ive thought of trying this game for awhile now but have to be honest, if  they cant even get a free trial right im pretty skeptical but i dont think the game should be shut down just because im having problems but it may well kill my plans to try it.

I still can't believe this thread is still up and running. There is no need for a petition to close down Warhammer. There are people lining up to play this game.

You want proof? Look here from yesterday.

    ROFL....now that is funny!!

Petitions to close games, are maybe the most pointless threads in the world.

Bit of  a stupid thread to be honest, Warhammer is a dissapointing game but I've played far far worse.

Despite its flaws I play it casually and enjoy it.
