I don't know who to feel worse for, Zodan for speaking hastily and contradictory or WSI Mike for taking all that time to point it out. Lets stray from the idea that people can change their minds and point over a particular topic, most especially an online game notorious for its inadequate update history and slow development time, and move straight to brass tacks.
Don't feel bad for me. It didn't take that much time at all (fast typer). Also, I enjoyed every moment of it; calling out and exposing BS - particularly in these threads, 'cause there's so much of it - is fun for me. And I feel like I'm at least doing my small part in keeping things 'honest'. So... no pity required here.
Also, there's a difference between "changing one's mind" and "elaborating". Zodan didn't say "I thought about it and I've changed my mind...". He said he was "elaborating", presumably on his previous post. What he actually did was a complete 180 from his previous post, completely contradicting himself in the process. I don't think many posters understand fully what the OP was portraying with this post. Initially he knew that what he was posting would cause a stir, and he even stated it in his original post. He did not play the game nor has or had first hand knowledge of the problems the game experienced other then whats been said about this game (and so much has been said). Unfortunately unless we play the game or see issues first hand its extremely tough to distinguish the true working features to the untrue drivel some posters enjoy to write.

He was not bashing DF, he was citing issues that had been discussed early on and wanted to know if they'd been fixed and/or if the game had improved. You don't need to be playing a game in order to read forum topics discussing the various issues that come up in a game. You simply can't claim first-hand experience with them; and the OP doesn't. If we can read the entire post, so can the thin-skinned fans. With that being said the OP can drastically have his post misconstrued and taken out of context not just for his inability to comment on actual happenings in-game but to the actual intentions of his post. With credible information on these forums to be the real world equivelant of finding water in the desert it only makes sense that the OPs information be taken as questionable in every sense.

Personally I don't know how darkfalls sound is other then from what I've heard, but to me it doesn't sound any better or worse then some other games I've played. From one non-player to the next, how do you determine this?

UI changes, or lack thereof is a personal preferance. Yes customizable UI is a commodity most MMO players have been accustomed to for a long time, but I can name a number of MMOs that did not allow a customizable UI upon launch. I also can't say that just because something is different it automatically makes it worse then what I'm used to. Personally again, I think the UI probably is poorly designed in some sense of the word, but I can't comment from personal experience.... so how could someone that hasn't played? Do you see a repeating trend here?
Combat is primitive and non-responsive. Not much to say there. Magic is badly unfinished, and at early skill levels, completely non-competitive compared to archery or melee.

It being primitive could simply be the different swing types and so on that I hear are somewhat limited... however so much could also be said about Mount & Blade which I feel has some of the most exciting combat regardless of the simplicity of the melee and ranged combat. Not having much to say on the subject should have been preceeded by not commenting on the subject at all as it very well may not be a problem so much as a preference.
