Bioware needs to stop messing around and admit TOR is going to be a Co-RPG.

So now its the sandbox lovers lol. At least you admit that some here are attacking a "group" whatever you want to call them. Simple question, why are you attacking a person or a group? Is it because you want to? You need to? You feel entiltled to? does it make you LOL?  Are you scared that they will keep on pressuring the devs until they listen, so you think attacking them personally or  calling their mental health into question will silence them? Is that it? you're trying to silence others?  Im I getting close?

Why would we want them silenced?  How would we argue with them then?  And why not attack them, if they can't take the heat, they can get out of the kitchen.

And no, I'm not afraid the devs will listen to them, because BioWare isn't a sandbox company, and they are smart enough not to expend resources on something they would probably suck at just to appease a tiny fraction of their potential audience.

Havnt seen a very small but loud group either. More like a random poster with hardly any posts followed by 4 pages of the same few ganging up on people who don't post or comment. usually the OP is just ignored and the entire thread is used to gang up on poeple who appearently have no names, and are members of a pre-cu cult that invades every topic about TOR and spams pre-cu love even though the threads themselve don't exist. Not here that I've seen. Sure there has been a post here and there. Theres been a i hope its like wow post here and there too. But this forum should be covered with swg vets crying from the way they are talked about, but its not any that I know, or have seen post before, or have enough post to be considered one of the fanbois you guys are talking about.

I said it before..the pre-cu vets are getting exactly what we've been hoping for all these years. Go check out all the rumors and info we've collected over the years. We've been waiting for this game for longer than anyone, and we are getting precisley what we asked for from LA. A new SW game made by the best dev house out there, and a pre-cu emulator ran by people who actually loved it. The last laugh is ours. I dont speak for everyone of my friends, but more than some dude who has no history here. And to all the asses who laughed at us for believing..you guys need to let it go already.  And to all the people who are just blindly jumping on their bandwagon...remember we know very little about this game so far. your listening to the same type if not the same people who bashed us for thinking it was starwars. Its all marketing my friends. If you're predictable, you're usable.

The post flaming pre-cu fanbois out number post actually made by pre-cu fanbois 100 to1. And the few that are made are made by people that most swg fans disagree with. Make your argument with the poster your talking to is all im advising. Do want you want though. Just remember who has pretty much been right all along, and who has just flamed us all along. And the community you create here in the forums, even in these forums, can help or HURT a game. Everyone is a potential player and friend. You guys set the tone and foundation...you can make any community you want. Ask Vanguard players how being mean towards complainers went. Then ask LOTRO online players how being nice( at least they used to be, seems to have changed a bit recently) worked for them. Its very easy just to be nice.

Then agian im just a pre-cu fanboi. Of coarse i have my own preferences, I like worldy mmo's. Stuff to do in your downtime and what not. How come i dont get bashed and dismissed for this post. I deserve to be. More than some group of people with no names. I would like a player run economy...wheres my hate?

Anyway sorry for the long ass post. All in fun my friends. Don't take me seriously:)

I admit that I mention SWG a lot, but that's because I am a big fan of sandbox games.  HOWEVER, I do not long for the days of pre-cu SWG.  Something alomst magical happened in that game that made it something special despite the broken or missing content.  It was the community, and what the community was able to create with the sandboxish features of the game world.  I use SWG as an example of that freedom, but I really would prefer to see a modern game that picks up where SWG left off.  It doesn't even have to be a Star Wars game, and it certainly does not have to duplicate SWG.

I would love to see SWTOR be a bridge between the worlds of Sandbox and Theme Park.  You know something that has the best of both worlds.  That's not going to happen though.  This is a theme-park through and through.

I'm looking forward to messing around in the EMU should it every actually release, but I doubt I will do much more than try it out unless we get some really fun/full servers and that magic happens again.

There are alot of people who have the same preferences as you. As long as you realize that your preferences mean as little as anyone elses. however, dont let other people tell you what this game will be or what it won't. Don't let others tell you this is not the game for you or write this game off as lame everquest rip off. Biowares is making this game not anyone else. Stop beleiving when you think you should. No one else knows. Its not a simulation any more than its an everquest. Could be in between, could be something all new. All we know is its not a simulation and its not a pez dispenser quest game. Could be better than anything ever made, could be a clone. You are free to state your opinion as much as anyone else. and mention swg as many times as you want until they spill the beans.

Maybe Bioware's game will create a new game definition outside of what we've known prevviously.

At teast that's what I'm hoping for, something really different, and really fun.

    There....that highlighted part.

That is all I want out of this game. If it is fun, I don't care if it is a themepark or a sandbox, a class or a skillbased system, a huge seamless world, or instanced, in epidsodes, or traditional.

It's as simple as that really. If the game is enough fun for me to justify paying for it, then the developers have done their job right. People who fail to understand that that is -all- that counts in a game...well, why are you even bothering?

Hoping BioWare will do as they have done with their previous games. Make it fun. Make it good. And make me feel like they earned the money I am paying them. Period.

    What's with the leet speak?

Also, I'm not sure why there needs to be a reason beyond the combination of disagreeing with an argument and being bored in order to engage in a discussion.  Are you suggesting we just ignore people when they post?  I suppose we could, but they wouldn't post if they weren't looking to engage in a dialogue, so it would seem a little rude.

I thought we were talking about why some engage in personl attacks rather than have a discussion. What we're doing is having a discussion. If you said i need to get out of my mothers basement and seek treatment for my mental problems because i am unable to let go of pre-cu because i said i prefer a player run economy, that  is an attack. if i say i enjoy sim games, im a loser that has no life that has to compensate through a video game is an attack. If i said people who enjoy linear games its because they're not good looking or whatever, that would be an attack. Just making sure you knew what i was talking about. A discussion is sorta what we're doing. you more than me:)

And what about my leet speak? I asked you why you attack people and you're answer was why not. Thought you were just bailing on the conversation by being cute. My bad. Think maybe i just wasnt clear enough on what I was talking about.

Well the types of attack you list would just be silly, they aren't relevant to anything.  I was using the word "attack" more in the sense of aggressively jumping on a person's argument, not the actual person.

As for my response of why not? to your question of why, I think people should do whatever they feel like unless there is a specific reason not to, so for me "why" is seldom a valid question, and "why not" is almost always a valid question.

Ya those attacks are silly. And i never said you attack people. I have no idea. You said you attacked and I asked why. I assumed we were talking about the same kind of attacks which I see all the time. Maybe dressed up a little better, but the same meaning. My fault for not being more clear. Why I thought when you said "why not" you were just being funny.  I was referring to the handful of people who do.

Just coming from the Canada Game Developers Conference where the two Doctors were keynote speakers, they had little information to reveal on TOR other than "We are going to bring you everything you're used to in an MMORPG, plus the story"

Take that for what it's worth, to me, it doesn't exactly sound revolutionary. Doesn't mean it can't be fun though.

Yep, and they seem to think it's fun. I talked to one of the new devs about it (She was once the SWG Test Center Coro back in 2003, a player like us) I asked her if this game was going to offer something for the vets still on the fence over this game. She said without giving anything away or sounding being bias" I wouldn't have moved 7 states away to work for a company if I didn't have that much faith in the product they will deliver."  And she said she can not wait to play it live, and I'm sure she has tried it. She is a pre-cu vet BTW.

In another interview the Doctors both made a point to say that in play testing they had some folks who were very hostile towards the idea of story in an MMO, they walked away with a different opinion, and thought the game was actually fun. That's all they will give us.

I agree. While I love sandbox games, I love great games above all. My second favorite MMO(besides SWG) is Guild Wars, which beyond a great skill system, isn't anywhere near a sandbox. But it is simply a great game.

Truth be told, the success of this game isn't going to have anything to do with if it is a sandbox game or a linear game, it is simply going to be due to whether it is a good game, and whether it is worth paying monthly for(or paying microtransactions, which I won't do).

Honestly, the only Bioware game I have played was KotOR I, and I didn't find it all that fun to play. I found the gameplay to be pretty dull and boring. The only thing that made that game so great was the story. I hope Bioware can make a fun game this time, and not just a great story, because MMO's rely on the continued play of their customers, and all stories eventually end. Putting so much effort into the story of the MMO could be a mistake, if they fail to deliver a great game with it.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike

Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

I've been on a lot of forums about TOR, and one thing is constant in all of them: People drawing conclusions about a game that we know very little about.

I'm just as anxious as you are to see what this game is about but saying it's going to be this, or that, is just unfounded banter. You'll know what the game is going to be like at the exact same time as everyone else. Be patient.

Crpg isnt a new term lol.

It means Co-op Rpg. kinda like Diablo and guildwars and maybe even DDO.

Its basically a single player game were a limited party groups up together in heavy soryline focused dungeons or instanced missions.

Just think diablo but with a city hub instead of a lobby Or guild wars with light sabers.

Pretty sure CRPG just refers to Computer Role Playing game, as opposed to the pen and paper kind.

If everything in the world where just that simple. *sigh* I know you mean well, but in reality, having fun in a game for a prolonged time is a complicated matter to design. There is no such thing from dev side as "simple fun". In fact, NOTHING is as difficult as to create long lasting fun. And thats what we gamers here discuss. Sure you can simplify matters saying stuff like that "I like games which are fun". Bravo. What a profound insight, and I am glad you are content with that level of thinking and that you care about no detail whatsoever. It must be wonderful to be so... wishless.

I apologize that some of us are not yet Taoist Masters who are satisfied with such... basic informations.

It's kinda like voting a person for president whose only program is "I am going to make you all happy." ... Oh wait... you just did. Doh. >< Ya know, being the skeptic rationalist it is nice to see such simple faith in action, but... really should we not look at the details? When is any game "just fun" in every aspect? Isnt it right to talk about details while the game is still in the making? What IS "really fun"?

With that attitude we dont need game forums anyhow.

Bioware is my favorite gaming company. They have made so many amazing games. Im so sad that they are not doing an original MMO.  Starwars has been done to death. I mean I loved the first 3 movies and the first StarWars MMO but come on people!!! If Bioware was making Secret World instead of Funcom i would be the happiest gamer in the world.

    Currently Playing: Fallen Earth
Played and liked: TCOS, Vanguard, Guild Wars, DDO
Played and didn't like: CO, MO, STO, DF, AoC, WAR, WoW, EQ2, EVE, most f2p
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, Secret World

CORPG means Co-op Role Playing Game, like Guild Wars
CRPG means Classic Role Playing Game, like Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Planescape ect
ARPG means Action Role Playing Game, like Diablo, Loki, Titan Quest, Sacred, HellGate ect

According to wikipedia it is computer, not classic.  Though the classic designation would limit it to a higher quality range of games.

Ah ok, just that everytime i've seen the term used it's always as Classic, you could class every RPG ever made as a CRPG though as they were all made with some form of computer.

So its actually Co-Rpg?  if so then ill edit my title.

I dont want to confuse anyone.

    Playing: EvE, Ryzom
