I agree 100%. Total cost for any guy in the EU for the normal boxed version will be 90.69 euros. 1 box (68.69 EUROS) + shipping (7 EUROS) + 1 month (15 EUROS) = 90.69 euros in total. That's twice the ammount of a normal MMO. And this game is still in very early beta.

I seen the 54.95 and thought it was USD at first before seeing the Euro symbol. When I realized it was actually 75 USD, I sighed a little bit but ahh well. I'd rather have the boxed version than saving 20 bucks and waiting a week for the Digital download,, which most likely would drop me down to Beta Block D or worse.. So, for those who want to save 20 bucks, wait for the Digital download, but those who want the retail box, access to beta a month or more earlier, and don't mind shelving out 20 more dollars, go purchase the boxed version asap!

This! Especially within the EU the shipping plus stupid VAT taxes are outragious.
I remember plenty of times, when I was still living in Holland (part of the EU) that when I ordered on Amazon.co.uk that I had to calculate the VAT charges and see if it was still worth it to order stuff there.
Now I moved to Norway last year (outside EU, but still Europe ofcourse) I am not subjected to VAT charges and ordering online on for example amazon.co.uk is suddenly a hell lot cheaper!!
Importing from US to Europe or vise versa is even more expensive. You usually end up paying almost double.
I remember, that I really wanted the Collectors Edition of EverQuest 2 and there was only one online store in the US left that had one, the VAT, Import and shipping fees where around $50-60 dollars, just as expensive as the CE box of EQ2. So I ended up paying around $120 to ship the box to Holland.
So you know. Don't blame the peeps of MO so fast!

I guess you didn't know about Darkfall or you would have done the same stuff for that game since they are mirrors when talking about pre-release promises, some people camped that site for 5 years or more and guess what? It was not worth it at all and one of the worst games ever in that the Devs lied so much and delivered so little on the promises.
You are counting your chickens too early, please let us know how you feel about your purchase a month after release and once you have played the game.
It feels great to think you got a great item and are one of the few to be lucky to get it, but once you realize you were conned into it by pre-release hype/lies by Devs, then you will really be mad.
I pre-ordered AOC, WAR, also waited fro Darkfall for 3-4 months checking the site daily like a maniac(thank god not 5 years liek many of their fans) and all 3 bombed. I now know what to look for pre-release to know if Devs are lying or not, and never get excited til I try a game myself. These Devs are not being true to fans.
This game is in Alpha (no matter what rthey say it is) yet they plan to release soon? They promise more than every game has ever delivered, yet they are unknown Devs with no experience and shown very little of their game. They are accepting money, but limiting customers, can't afford a real launch or anything, so they collect money now to be able to make actual hard copies of the game.
Crazy expensive prices for an unknown Developer that has shown nothing, but promised more than anyone can believe to be true. I will wait til i try it myself before handing them even a dime.

I don't see an mmo costing $300-$400 any time in the near future. Call me crazy. The price won't go up if the game is good, they'll lower it, to sell more copies of it. If the price is too high, they won't sell as many as they would if they simply lowered the price a little bit. I think I'm going to be like Oskironmaide on this one. I'm just going to wait about a week or two after launch to see what the player reception is before I spend money on it. $70 bucks is a bit pricey, but if the game is good, I'll pay it. And when it came time to launch I could tell, and feel that it was not what I wanted, so on launch day I did not camp their site.
Mortal Online however did tantalize me and so I made the gamble/investment and gave it a go. If I lose $98 it will not be the end of the world. I have lost more on less. Such is the nature of investments and gambles.
Oh and this is not the first MMO I have bought pre-release, just the first I have gone so out of my way to obtain. And SV has been naught but up front with us on things like the status of the game. And last night though their store had orders they stayed up exceedingly late for their timezone to get it in order. Star Vault has already proven to be more "on it" and their crap "more together" than Tasos and Adv.

Yes thats very true, and anyone who's mad should scroll up a bit because theres a hyperlink on the reason its that expensive. They listened to the people and made the box set and LE box set for a reason. THEY LISTENED. Now quit whining, you either buy it or dont. That's your choice, they aren't making you buy it. But it makes the game so much more better when all the whiners dont buy it. It will be a little more less stressful.
On the 20th you can buy the direct download for less then you pay for the typical MMO.
I believe they originally said something like 40 dollars. They may have changed it, I don't know.
The box versions cost so much because they didn't produce hundreds of thousands of them. They only made a few thousand because people were asking for them.
Without a big publisher or distribution deal you can't produce a retail box in bulk at an affordable price.
With the small amount of boxes that were available Sv isn't making much of a profit, and the price is slightly higher then normal.
If you create a graphic t-shirt and pay a company to print 500k of them, the cost on each shirt is considerably cheaper then if you have that same company print 5k. Manufacturers work off of bulk, the more you make the cheaper it gets.
If the price of the box was to high, then just get the DD on monday, or wait till it releases near the end of the year.

Get the cost into perspective... Im gonna get thousands of hours of fun out of that 60 quid... I highly suspect I wont go pissing my money away in the pubs n clubs so much so I can play more... The game will SAVE me money by buying and playing it..

Yup. But at the very least we supported an aspiring team of bright and independent devs with great ideas in a genre which is dominated by big companies launching cookie cutter mmorpg's with big IP's to make massive proffitssss which tend to disapoint in the long run.
