This is the first time I have paid more than $80 for a CE, this is the first time I have camped a site for 9 hour+ to get a game pre-launch.
This is the first time I have paid nearly $100 for a beta game...and you know what.
I am damned happy I got my LE. Damned happy I gave my $98 USD. And damn eager for Monday to roll around.
Heads will roll,
Alexis *smiles*
I guess you didn't know about Darkfall or you would have done the same stuff for that game since they are mirrors when talking about pre-release promises, some people camped that site for 5 years or more and guess what? It was not worth it at all and one of the worst games ever in that the Devs lied so much and delivered so little on the promises.
You are counting your chickens too early, please let us know how you feel about your purchase a month after release and once you have played the game.
It feels great to think you got a great item and are one of the few to be lucky to get it, but once you realize you were conned into it by pre-release hype/lies by Devs, then you will really be mad.
I pre-ordered AOC, WAR, also waited fro Darkfall for 3-4 months checking the site daily like a maniac(thank god not 5 years liek many of their fans) and all 3 bombed. I now know what to look for pre-release to know if Devs are lying or not, and never get excited til I try a game myself. These Devs are not being true to fans.
This game is in Alpha (no matter what rthey say it is) yet they plan to release soon? They promise more than every game has ever delivered, yet they are unknown Devs with no experience and shown very little of their game. They are accepting money, but limiting customers, can't afford a real launch or anything, so they collect money now to be able to make actual hard copies of the game.
Crazy expensive prices for an unknown Developer that has shown nothing, but promised more than anyone can believe to be true. I will wait til i try it myself before handing them even a dime.
/agree..
I havent seen any footage worth my 75 bucks right NOW..... What happened to try before you buys and stuff like free beta previews (Fileplanet did this with World of warcraft, look at what happened..)
Why fork up so much money on promises?
If I promised you that I would build you a house, would you give me the money before or AFTER i built your house?
LOL and people were crying that Darkfall's EU client and NA client were seperate purchases (like GOA War and EA War was). Looks like EU MO costs almost as much as both regions of Darkfall. Your NA price is built in, or is it? Lets see if they charge for the NA launch.
The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

Except the fact that you paid nearly as much for a Digital Download, while in MO your getting a boxed version for this price and they already stated Digital Downloads will be much cheaper, because well you know, it doesnt cost them anything to distribute, I wonder what justification AV had to charge a Digital Download more than any boxed version.

Steam does the same thing, they sell digital versions the same price as boxed versions... I honestly would pay $50 for the digital download instead of the boxed version because I know that I will be able to download it anywhere at any time...
That doesn't bother me, I am just skeptical of paying that much money for that pre-alpha game...

Yeah! Maybe someone should make a "MO vs. DF & other MMO pricing comparison" thread to make things more clear.
It's sad to see how eager non-followers are to jump on the "this is a rip off" bandwagon while not reading SV's very clear explanation on this. Though it was to be expected. People have a 35-65 dollar figure in mind related to game purchases and anything which is higher means an automated negative response without diving into the available information first, (to find out that the digital dl might be cheaper than the average MMO, for instance).

The EU darkfall client didn't cost me anything, it was free.
The account I paid for cost me 65 USD.
MO cost me 75 USD, plus I get a box and I'm guaranteed a spot on the live server. I don't think people understand this part. Not everyone that wants to play is guaranteed to be able to at release.
Once again,
They only produced a few thousand boxes.
Unless you run off several hundred thousand it costs more to make each box. What it cost SV to make the very small number of boxes they did is reflected in the price. This is true of anything. The more of an item you manufacture the less it costs.
It costs more to make 5000 DVD's then it does to make 500,000.
It's not that people dont wanna play the game. It's just very disheartening to hear that in order to preview the game to see if it is something you'd be interested in costs 75 bucks.. no matter how we choke and spit it out, it is the same puke (not literally because I think the game looks alright). But why is it a good move to charge your potential player base full price plus, for access to your alpha stage testing?
Why not charge the price for an account like the normal 15 bucks, and then if they want to buy the game they could buy the box at a later date after the beta's?

haha... right on... tell the truth brotha...
Well the truth is that the devs has already promised that you will never need too buy the game again for that reason... They also promised that they will get a NA server if the demand is big enough..... please do some research before posting lies.
And WAR did have their game divided from the start while darkfall never told their players about it and just added it after, many NA players got screwed, not same in my book.

It's not a preview, it's a beta.
You're not there to preview, you're there to test and give feedback. To report bugs, imbalances, and possible exploits.
Not to get an early preview to see if the games good. It won't be.
Block A will be testing things like the launcher, woo-hoo the launcher! We'll be testing the autoupdater, swimming. Yes, SWIMMING!

Yes that is my original post.. I may have worded it two different ways but what i meant was exactly what you said.. you are paying 75 bucks to test SWIMMING..lol.... Have fun, I'll just let you do a few laps in the water while i play DF waiting for the cheaper DD and some decent reviews on the game after you got your swimming out of your system... heh.

My brand new bloggity blog.
Forgot to add... it cost $22 a month for the subscription... most expensive MMO I have ever seen...
This is ridiculous how can people not even do any research about the game before they post stuff.
"The monthly subscription cost of Mortal Online will be €14.25 for Europeans and $14.25 for everybody else."
Where does it say that it will cost $22 a month for the subscription?
