Without a doubt. US healthcare is the best in the world but only if you can afford it which most people in the world cannot.

Wrong again, take my story, take the story of the person right above you.  Do you live in America obviously not.

He is gonna try his best to shove it down our throats like SOE did the NGE and then try and convice us its for the best.  He'll do this despite the polls saying that a majority of Americans are happy with their current health care, like SOE did even though the current fan base largely hated the NGE.  Also like the nge, if his health care plan gets passed, it will be very difficult to roll the system back to a previous more successful state. Then you'll have EMU's pop up. This will be states like Texas that may end up seceding from the Union.  That is how Obama is like SOE

The reason why the majority of americans are happy with their health care is because of two reasons:

    1. They have a health insurance, about 15% of americans do not.
    2. They don't get seriously ill so they will never see what happens to their insurance premiums when they do get seriously ill

Health insurance should not be a majority decision, basically all civilized countries provide health care for ALL their citizens as it is stated in article 25 of declaration of human rights:

    Article 25.

    * (1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

So adequate medical care is a fundamental right that all humans should have, not only those that can afford it.

All praise Obama for being the first president ever to realise that.

That being said, universal free healthcare is not perfect either. My collegues friend recently discovered he had metastatic cancer and the doctors gave him about 6 months to live if he does not get threatment. He got in line for chemotherapy and the line was 2 months long, effectively reducing his survival chances to basically zero.

Do not confuse RIGHT with ENTITLED.

You have the RIGHT to the health care meaning you cannot be denied.  Go to an emergency room and you will not be denied.  This falacy that you do not have access to health care is a myth.

Do you get billed for it?  Sure.

    Are the costs outrageous?  Sure.

Will the bill they propose limit spending or costs? No.

Will the bill they propose limit lawsuits?  No.

Will the bill do anything to lower the cost of heal care? Who knows?

Will it end up costing taxpayers of every level?  You bet it will!!!!

Will health care suiffer for this?  You bet it will!!!!!

Why do people come to the US yearly for treatment?  Why is the Crowned Prince of Saudi in a US hospital and not being treated in his own country?  Simple, you want the best health care you go to the best place.

Having the right to something implies that it is readily available. For example: the right of free speech does not mean that you have free speech if you can afford it. Same with housing and food etc otherwise the whole declaration would be pointless if you added if you can afford it to every article.

US health care system is extremely good but only if you can afford it. A large portion of US citizens cannot and hence suffer for it.

I only make around 25K a year and I can afford my health insurance plan. There are programs that make paying your health care bills affordable and viable even on a small salary. I have a 32K hospital bill and have been paying that off each month since I was released from the hospital. You are going to have to do better to convince me that I need to shell out even more of my earnings to pay for someone that either does not WANT to get health insurance, of who I know several people, or are not even citizens of this country.

I dont need to convince you of anything as I dont live in US and not affected either way. But many americans have been brainwashed by the Republicans for so long that they see anything which helps someone who is not able as communism.

What I am saying is that healthcare is something that all citizens both are entitled to and have the right two according to article 2 and 25 of universal declaration of human rights. But republicans have never been so keen on caring about human rights so no surprise that many americans doesn't either.

And the fact is that about 15% of US citizens are without health insurance, you claim that they are because they dont want to, but why on earth would they not want to have health care? Makes no sense to me.

Uhm, why dont you read his statement again and realise that it was about people NOT living in US (and hence obviously not having an american health insurance).

Oh, and I should just blindly accept that because you, a brainwashed far-right neo-liberal, says so?

Believe it or not but I do know people in the US and they have told me how tough it is to have a good health insurance if you get seriously ill. Your premiums will go sky-high and it will be nigh-impossible to sign a new one because they check your health history and if you have been seriously ill then you are shit out of luck (unless you are wealthy).

This is partially true, but just because you dont have healthcare insurance does not mean you will not receive healthcare, you know where people take care of you, not healthcare insurance that little card in your wallet.

To get adequate health care (which is stated in the article), in US, you need either an health insurance or pay alot of money. For example, lets say I dont have health insurance (because I cannot afford it) and I accidently cut of my fingers with a saw. If I go to the hospital and they say that they can put a bandage on it and thats it even though they can re-attach your fingers but only if you pay thousands of dollars I would NOT call that adequate health care.

That is adequate health care if you can afford it. If not you get a bandage and sent on your way.

Maybe just skip healthcare and spend more money on schooling and making people in the US smarter. And then in about 20-30 years it will be better even without healthcare.

And while your at it remove the federal reserve bank and stop using oil as fuel, use enviourment friendly fuel. I can go on and on but start there.

Being ruled by an idiot for 8 years does not mean we sit idly by and be ruled by a socialist.  There were critics of the "idiot" and there will be critics of the "socialist".

And yes, we can still own weapons to defend ourselves in this country and particulary in the state I live in we can have conceled weapons.  Not everyone is running around shooting each other.  No non-guns-allowing area has less crime than areas that have guns so....

Health care is not free in US but, it is there.  When Government gets involved in anything start following the money trail back  from the official who is proposing it and you will find someone or some company that will profit.  Plane and simple, NOTHING is FREE and EVERYTHING has a cost.  It depends on whether you are willing to pay that cost.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

Not affording it and being denied it is effectively the same thing. You can go on with your semantics about they not being the same but effectively they are the same.

I give up, believe what your news tells yah.

I also live in America, and I completely disagree with Mazin in almost every way.

Let's start off by saying that yes, for the most part, if you are DYING, a doctor will save you.  That's like your story Mazin -- you need something done, and with or without health insurance, you can get it done.

But then what happens?  The thing that can happen ONLY IN AMERICA.  Going bankrupt from medical costs.  Almost no other country in the nation allows you to go bankrupt because of medical costs?  Why?  Because it is ludicrous!  You say your grandma or mother is only paying 5 dollars a month on a huge bill?  There IS something they can do to her, and there already is -- her credit score is probably shot to hell, and eventually she may be forced into bankruptcy.  Now, to you that might be nothing, and if she's already really old it might not be a big deal.  Now what happens if you're 25 and get a horrible injury?  In other countries, you're taken care of.  In America, you're taken care of, but then you pay 30,000 dollars -- that's a year's salary for some people.  That's double my college loans.  How is that a good system?

Yes, America has great healthcare.  That's because we charge up the ass for it.  The problem with insurance now is they are private companies.  You say health insurance companies don't want to run in the red -- exactly!  Their goal is to make money.  In many other countries, health insurance companies are NON-PROFITS.  They aren't trying to make money, only stay afloat to help people.

I am lucky enough to have a job that gives me full benefits, but many other people are not.  And if you can't afford health insurance, then you definitely can't afford the tens of thousands of dollars to get healthcare out of pocket.  Yes, you'll be saved.  But the rest of your life will be ruined by debt.

The problem with republicans, as evidenced by Mazin, is that if they see something for themselves they automatically think it's true for the entire nation.  "If I can do this, everyone can."  But everyone can't.  That's the problem.
