On all the mmo's I have played female chars mains or alts i dont care. I think playing girl char's are kewl I like building a very cute chick char up to kick some major ass. Im not gay at all. I dont really know why mabye cause i dont like looking at a dudes ass or mabye cause the woman has a better figure than a man. I dont know. And the giving stuff to girls. Ive never really had that happen to me I have always been the one helping someone else giving money armor spells ect to someone else not for any reason just for fun. when people talk about roleplaying and the fact that guys shouldn't choose to play the role of a female, I say this:
To me it isn't playing the role of a female, when I create a character, I think of playing the role of my race and class because male/female makes no difference as to what you can do in game. I have only had one female character ever and that was a female druid in Everquest after having several male characters and the reason I did it was to just change it up a bit, although I did have a problem with people treating me as if I were actually a girl, I started out trying to explain that I wasn't but after a while I got lazy and would only tell them if they tried to hit on me or something that bothered me.
I see nothing wrong with it. Imho is somebody wants to play a game a certain way then thats their choice. As long as it does not infring upon you then how is it a problem?
In addition, some do it because they are curious what it is like for a woman. Not out of some sick fantasy (though im sure there are a few), but some are just curious. Also there are some that look at it purely from an aesthetic point of veiw, selecting the model that they think looks better.
I dont think it right personally, but they are right too. There is nothing you can do about it, so if guys really want to be a chick thats their own prob, Im not getting in the middle of that -_-
I in a way play a female char. I often fire up both comps to help lvl my GF char up to my lvl, so in that instance yes I am playing a woman. Other than that, not my cup of tea, I never have been drawn to having a female toon to look at while playing, thats what having a wife or girl friend is for.

Hmm there seems to be no end to the discussion. some people look different to their online personality than others. maybe people should see the game more separated from RL.
play the game like a game and assume all characters are played by your own gender, unless proven otherwise. this saves you all trouble listed above
It's a game and I will be any race/sex I want to. My girlfriend sometimes use male character but does it mean that shes male? NO, shes free to do what she wants. When I buy WoW, I will have a male and female character.

I don't role play...never have. For one reason (I guess) is that I don't really type that well...and RP actually feels like too much work/typing , I prefer using my time to play the game.

I think of it as GUIDING a character thought a world, questing and rising in exp and status.
I have played Female type characters in a Varity of different games. As well as male char. I have 2 names that I "always" use for each main char I create. I have done this since I 1st played NWN's. But I also NEVER roleplay as a Girl!!! Or as a guy for that matter lol Everything I type and say to other players is gender Neutral and could be said by either sex easily!
So in my opinion your comment is a Very Narrow mind set and one that reeks of a moral "higher than thou" attitude. (again which u are entitled too)
Not that I "need" to prove anything but...I am happily married ,with kids. Have never cross-dressed and never been interested any same sex "sexual" activities.
But I can play/control a FICTIONAL different sex char with absolutely NO regard to my personal life and/or sexual orientation.
To mix the two...IMO is the true sign of a emotional problem. It's a fictional game not real life.
So I'll close by saying something that actually took me a while to learn in the real world.

I think that the only guys who would be prone to give girl characters more item as gifts are the guys who are also likely to play a girl character to obtain more items through this method of play. Again as I always say, play the game as you like. The game is as much yours as it is mine. But honestly I think you should play a character you really like. If you want to play a female character because you want to experience that side of the game, then do so. It is ok to be experimental, after all it is a game, and games are for playing. Have fun either way, but dont get so wound up over items that you end up playing something that you dont feel comfortable with.

This isnt my opinion in the least, it is a psychological fact, quite indisputable.
