Meh. What game do you start with to be an elitist snob and knee-jerk WoW-basher?

UO, EQ, or AC. At least then you have experienced non-WoW playstyle MMOs.

To all of those that commented on the OP’s grammar/spelling, claim to be a veteran gamer and age as part of your response to his review, please understand that adding those things to your posts impact your credibility negatively. Many of you made shared very valid and helpful information and arguments to opinions presented in his post. However, criticizing him as a person or writer is petty and discredits your response. These are public forums for people to share their personal comments about games. I did not read his post/review with the expectation that he works for a game company or intended to write a polished article for a magazine. As a reader I am aware that he is just one person and that one person’s negative review is not enough to go by. So please post why you might disagree with his review, but leave the digs about grammar and other non-game related things out of it. He obviously got his point across well enough for you to point out where you feel he is wrong. If I care about grammar or believe him to be lacking in maturity/experience, I’m going to notice it without you pointing it out.

That said, I agree with Interesting that using the word “FAIL” in the subject line is a bit premature. When I clicked the link to read this thread I wasn’t scared away by it, but instead was hoping to learn if the poster appeared to look for similar features as I do in an MMO. Many of his comments as well as the reply posts that indicate the game hasn’t even been released did more than enough to persuade me not to put a whole lot of stock in the OP criticism.

Finally, having some negative posts about a game is nice to see, especially when posts include why the writer dislikes something. I am much more scared away by reading nothing but sunshine and roses about new games. I’ve been hoping for a Fallout type MMO and believe this is probably as going to be as close as we get for a while. I look forward to trying it out to see if it works for me.

I'm going to have to disagree here. If  you are going to communicate with other people, then you should do so in a manner that reflects that you are, at the least, able to communicate in some intelligent manner. People say that spelling and grammar aren't that important, but the fact of the matter is, they really are. To sum everything up about grammar and spelling, being able to write or speak effectively makes your message clearer. It will also lend credence to what you are writing, regardless of whether people agree or not. If your spelling and grammar are that of a 8 year old, then people aren't going to read your posts and more often than not, you will be ridiculed for it and the discussion will devolve into insults. While I could have phrased myself less aggressively, I do think that the person should work on their spelling and grammar. One can argue that English is not his first language, I am going to have to say he is a native speaker, based on my own experience with languages and ESL speakers and writers.

And one could argue that this isn't the place to expect good grammar and spelling, but then that raises the question, "Where would you expect it?" If a person can't spell or write effectively on a gaming site, then how would you expect them to do so effectively in places where it would 'matter', such as at a job interview or something similar? It's the same as language. If a  person swears in his personal interactions, they're going to swear elsewhere. It's simply habit and personal behavior and reflects the person behind the words.

About the post itself, there are many negative posts about the game and there is certainly nothing wrong about them and they reflect a person's personal opinion. A person can dislike something about X because of this reason. There is certainly nothing wrong with it. The problem with the OP's post is that he contradicted himself, his reasons were filled with inconsistencies or outright inaccuracies, and he was making broad generalizations that simply weren't true. If you are impressed with that, then anything I say further would simply be denigrating toward you and your standards, which apparently would discredit my own opinion and God forbid I should do that.

Added - People denigrate WoW and put down their players quite a bit. WoW is not a terrible game. It's a solid MMO with a large company behind it that makes good games. The problem most have with WoW is that it takes everything from the other MMO's and then dumbs it down to the easiest it can be to appeal to the widest range of players. There's certainly nothing wrong with that and if people enjoy it, then more power to them. The problem is that it engenders certain lines of thought with the players that simply aren't true. It's like someone who eats at McDonald's and thinks it's the finest food on the planet and that they invented everything about food.

Extremely well put. Most posters are either being lazy or trying to be 'cool'. Neither approach is going to impress people in a positive manner, and if you don't care about the impression you are making, why post at all?

English is his first language, he's just lazy with it. If you look at his sentence structure, you'll notice they are all correct, except for the lack of punctuation and capitalization.  His spelling is also not indicative of an ESL speaker.

My judgment is that he's young, probably in his early teens.

I had written a long rebuttal to your post, but decided it's not necessary.  Sorry about initiating this side rant.  I didn't mean to start a totally unnecessary debate over grammar when what I really want is to find a MMO that I can love as much as I did DAoC in the early years.  For the most part I agree with you.  I appreciate your efforts to provide an intellegent rebuttal to his post and to enhance the quality of future posts.  I certainly enjoy knowing that there is intellegent life on the other end of the line.

However, I'm going through a period of insomnia and it turns out arguing with a stranger over something that doesn't matter all that much is a nice distraction. If you would like me to elaborate on the ways in which I disagree with you, feel free to send me a private message.

I'm definitely looking at getting into this game.  I appreciate all the constructive posts regarding the game...both pro and con. But, I think this is getting rediculous that this poor shmoe is getting hammered over his spelling and sentence structure.

Ok, can't swim...I hope that changes but won't change anything for me...perhaps the water is acid death anyway.

Sandbox potential? Now, that really interests me.

No vehicle bounce/wheelies/jumps? Eh, that sorta stinks because I'm a big road warrior fanatic...hopefully that will change.

Long travel times? Doesn't bother me too much but I can see where that can hurt grouping with friends/guildmates etc. Perhaps some mode of quick travel between some towns? Like air baloons or motorized gliders? Just sayin'.

Personally I hope there is never any "quick travel" introduced. FE wasn't made to be a game in the sense all the other quick travel MMO games. It was meant to be a world. A world w/o any plausible working means of quick travel. Having it take some time to travel between points on the map, and exponentially longer times between greater distances, lends heavily to the feel of the world. A feel I like. Being able to teleport around the map would be, in my opinion, a design change heading in the direction of all the easy, "accessible" dime a dozen MMOs that are being pumped out today. No thanks.

Quick travel isn't apart of the target niche audience Icarus is aiming for in my estimation. At least it isn't in their vision for the game else it would have been in in some form by now. And it's doing just fine without it.

Well if they ever get to 10 sectors in the game, I wouldn't mind different methods of travel, however they should be unique in a certain way. As I posted in the main FE forums I wouldn't mind seeing

Now I could accept this into the game

There is already fast travel in a game, it's called a horse, ATV, Motorcycles, Dune Buggies, or Interceptor.  That is all the fast travel we need in the game, if they introduce anything else maybe some type of gyrocopters but let them be mounts like all the others.  No need to telportation type travel, if groups/guildies cant plan out their events to be at the same spot on a specific day then why be in a "ORGANIZED" group such as a guild?

There is nothing about FE that is any more "shoddy" than any other mmo in fact it seems better than most gameplay wise, yes graphics can be improved but remember this is a completely new engine built from the ground up by an indie company so it is only the first generation of it, Improvements to said engine will be made as time goes by.  Gameplay wise FE shines, it does have it's bugs but no worse than any other mmos at release.  I've personally experienced very few bugs, i do tend to crash when entering some heavy populated towns such as Embry Crossroads/Midway/Oilville but i just stay away as long as i can until the crashes are fixed.  There is plenty of other towns to go do without hitting those.

I would not call that a stirring testimonial to the game's quality. Too much 'no worse than' for my liking. I am disappointed with things like no water, slow travel, as well.

    Also:

You don't know that any particular issue will ever be fixed. It's fixed when we see it has been fixed.

I have full confidence in Icarus fixing all issues that exist and may occur, deducing from the speed at which they have fixed and added many many things already during the early access weeks.

I've never said it was a "Stirring" testimonial to the games quality was just station it is no worse infact to me it ranks as one of the better launches, most people that have complained about the game only complains about the graphics which is not bad but either way graphics do not make or break a game, gameplay does.  The ones that have complained about gameplay seemed to have only played about an hour because their complaint are "USUALLY" completely inaccruate to the truth.

no water?  I'm not sure what you are referring to because i've seen water, i've seen lakes the only thing is you can't do is roam into the water but why would want to?  want your chracter to get radiation sickness? (yes it does exist as i had to treat my character for radiation today)  For example go to odenville in s1 and head southeast of the town there will be a fenced in pool of water.  S1 is mostly dessert though so don't expect to see much water there until you get to s2 and s3.

yes we don't know if any particular issue will get fixed, but this can be said of any game.  One thing that can be said is atleast we know the devs are trying to fix it, the devs keeps the players informed ingame and out of game about the issues, that is more than alot of others can say.

It's not water if it doesn't work like water. If you can't wade through or swim in it. A modern game can't handle a mechanic that WoW used from day one - five years ago?

Why does it matter? Because it ruins immersion. It limits the suspension of disbelief. If the water is harmful, then make it dangerous to go into, but don't treat it as impassible.

Lets give Fallen Earth a chance.. my belief is this game will be very very good after a couple of months and patches.

No game goes perfect at launch.. and at least in Fallen Earth you get to meet some very nice new ideas to the genre, plus a very pleasant comunity relation team.

Nice people, good ideas, lets give them a chance :) At least not every bloody char is moaning when shooting.

When I first read the OP's post, I had some thoughts of not preordering this game.  Then I read others on here, talking how unique this game is.  I have been playing mmorpg's since UO and basically played just about all the big ones since then. Guess, I am getting burned out with magic, elves and ogres.

So, with that said, would this game be worth pre-ordering?  I know it is all based on taste and not all games are everyones cup of tea.  I have allot of experience playing, but have been looking for a game thats different from WoW, EQ2, AoC, Vanguard and the like.

My all time favorite was UO.  This is a skill based game not a leveling game, right?

Actually, many people can write normally, but still have problems with punctuation and commas. And the matter of fact is his "lazy" written post has nothing to do with his ability to validate his concerns and opinions about Fallen Earth. When you get a bit more mature you will realize that. (see, I can assume to) I personally had no problem with understanding his post and actually agreed with a few of his points. As a former AC player expecting a sandbox game, this title was too much theme-park to my likings.

If you're having problems with puncutation and commas, then I would say that you're not writing normally. If you wish to argue about the ability to write or not write, then we can move this elsewhere. Frankly, I can already see it's not going anywhere as you are simply trolling. Just as a lot of the others are.

As to my immature intolerance, except for the point where I pointed out his lack of grammar and spelling, I responded to his points. And you should learn to spell /judgment/ if you're actually going to try and use it. And what's even worse is that the forums provide a built-in spelling correction tool that a lot of people are simply too lazy to use, and then you expect people to take you seriously. Yeah....right...

I enjoyed my time in betas of FE and felt it was a game with great potential. The sandbox feel, the mad max style setting, the amazing crafting system, all what I was looking for. There are a few issues with the game but I feel they will be ironed out. Once I can get the g/f out of her AION is the greatest game ever phase (I turned her into a gaming chick, so the pretty shiny games are catching her eye right now), I will be coming over to FE.

Not normally a poster on these forums, but the "fail" in the title just lent it self to be read.

For all the negatives, aside from framerate problems, It sound like this is the type of MMO I might give a try. It's A; a far cry from Orcs and Elves, which I've had my fill, and B: The idea of a skillbased vs.level based games makes my all retro for my SWG playing days.

As for bashing the OP on his grammar...old. Weed through it all and try to get his point. Having a firm grasp of my own language allowed me to do that without confusion.
