So again I ask, aside from questing, scavenging, crafting, exploring, and PvP, what else is there to do in the game?
ok, aside from those things you can also hunt/kill mobs. But aside from that, there is really nothing. But maybe you can help me understand - in other MMOs you've played, aside from questing, scavenging, exploring, crafting, pvp and killing mobs, what else is there? I can think of raiding and decorating your house, but other than that, nothing else really. Both don't exist in FE yet but are likely to be added.
I'm not quite sure what type of content you think it's missing other than raiding. I too miss raiding, but I play eq2 twice a week for the awesome raids (the rest of the game is pretty lame) and get the rest of my gaming fix form FE2. Hope they add some raids soon as well. I don't really care about decorating, so player housing is not a big issue for me, but I know a lot of people spend lots of time doing it. I think these are coming in the next major content update, but not 100% sure.
In some MMOs it was player housing or various mini-games within the MMO that were aside from the 'core'. FE obviously lacks any of these. But anyways, I really can't think of anything else aside from mindlessly farming mobs as you mentioned, which I even did. Keep in mind, farming mobs can get boring fast.
But that was basically my point. There are people claiming that I was running out of content because I was skipping over it or not taking my time to enjoy it. Well, I was doing almost everything the game mechanics offer other than PvPing or meta-gaming by faction hopping. Despite this I found myself with nothing to do short of grind mobs or aimlessly scavenge masses of resources in certain points, because I would run out of quests.
FE simply lacks sufficient content, even when you combine everything together.
So it's missing "content", but you can't really come up with what kind of content is missing other than mini-games and housing? Housing is coming soon. What else do you want it to have? Instead of 5500 quest have 10,000? Well, that's coming soon too as new sectors get released...
Everyone runs out of content at the cap in MMOs. In all MMOs with pre-written (as opposed to on-demand generated) content.

Let me preface by saying that I love FE and think it has tons of potential. I also think that Icarus has a great vision for their game. This is also not directed any anyone in particular.
However, let's not sit here and blow sunshine... There are some glaring issues with FE still, including a lack of content at certain points, especially the endgame areas. By denying these issues and claiming that people just aren't playing the game "right" we're making asses of ourselves and making the game look bad.
FE will improve over time. Of that I have no doubt... and I'm going to stick around and support Icarus because I believe in what FE can become and I believe Icarus can make it happen. If people don't want to join me, then by all means, move along. But you really don't need to sit here and bash the game if it's not your cup of tea... unless you really have nothing better to do, in which case, I feel sorry for you.
I wouldn't call lack of end game a glaring issue.
Realistically, how many games that were newly released,(FE has been officially released about 2 months) had full blown end games. None that I can think of. Not even the highly acclaimed WoW did. Other area's will be fleshed out as the playerbase as a whole moves to those areas in higher concentration just like in many MMO's. It's pretty standard practice really to have beginning to mid game polished and work on mid-mid levels to end levels as the game matures after release.
That's not to say I don't agree with you that there are areas that can be improved, there always are in any game, but for an indy developer Icarus has handed us a great start to what hopefully turns out to be a stellar MMO. IMO this game isn't any rougher around the edges at release than any other game, and actually more polished than many games that have been released lately.
Like you, I will support Icarus because of there effort to pull away from the norm of MMO's.
I also have no problem with people that don't find this game to be their cup of tea. But make your criticism accurate and constructive. Post it to the official forums, the devs listen. They and many players may think dissenting ideas are good ones to make additions to the game. To come here and bash just makes people like the OP look like they have an agenda other than their dislike of the game.

So exactly what else is there to do in this game aside from crafting, questing, exploring, PvPing, and faction grinding?
What else is there to do in any other game besides the above, especially so soon after release?
That sounds like a lot to do to me.
What more do you want from a game that's only been released for 2 months?
Don't get me wrong, there is always room for improvement but this isn't a game that's been out for 5 years with 5 years of added content to flesh it out completely which it sounds like what the comparison is for you.

Fallen Earth = Epic fail. A few of us friends were there at launch, now we all are gone. I don't think any of us got past 15 before we were fed up. Miserable game.

Yes, but my complaint is that I ran out of content significantly faster than any other MMO I've ever played. It used to take me about 6 months on average to truly do and see most things after release. And I was still a student then, I had tons of freetime to sink into an MMO. But to run out of content 2 months after release, and keep in mind I'm spending at least half as much time than I used to playing MMOs, well that to me shows that there is a severe lack of content.
Heck, even SWG and UO felt like there was more content, because at least their character progression and area progression felt more fluid, and less like trying to jam a square peg (character levels) into a round hole (skill points).
Fallen Earth = Epic fail. A few of us friends were there at launch, now we all are gone. I don't think any of us got past 15 before we were fed up. Miserable game.
What kind of credibility do you actually expect your posts to have when you don't even elaborate on why something is "Epic Fail" or "miserable"?
I guess I'll just take your signature as the explanation.

Maybe its not for you then, because you didnt even explore half of the world or anything in it. Trying actually playing for a bit.
I actually enjoyed Fallen Earth. There were only two things I didn't care for, travel time (which following the lore makes total sense) and the stiffness of the combat. The combat didn't feel natural enough for me. It felt like WoW combat with crosshairs.
Other than that, I think the game has a good story and progression. The "everything is crafted" part is probably my favorite part. I will return if they ever change the combat to my liking.

Just curious, is that ingame item in your sig? If so whats its called?
As for FE, I cannot agree that the game is a fail. My char is at lvl41 right now and I still have fun. I plan to finish PVE by lv45 and try PVP with a good clan. I tend to vary between doing quests and crafting my own guns and armor. That keeps me entertained.
I loved FE for a while but got burned out pretty quickly, which is sad... It is a great game but it just could not hold me..
I made it to 36 on my main and 22 on an alt and just did not have the energy to keep going...
Combat was okay, never really had a problem with it...
Crafting was fun for the lower levels, higher levels began to grind and I felt that there should have been more variety similar to SWG crafting with quality standards etc, The fact that my motorcycle was the same as my buddies motorcycle, he scavenged his metal in a trash dump and I got mine from the old rail-road yard...just put me off I guess. Oh well wishful thinking.
I may go back in a while, but who knows.. It certainly sucked me in for a few weeks.
You know you are old when the dev's on the games you play are almost young enough to be your grand-kids.
If you started with WoW, You will never be considered a mmo vet.
Meh. What game do you start with to be an elitist snob and knee-jerk WoW-basher?
The day WoW quits having 12million subscribers, cashes and burns in a fire so bright you can see it from Mars. Think SWG on a much bigger scale.
WoW has absolutely destroyed the MMO market. Thank god for companies like Incarus(sp?) with games like Fallen Earth, driving innovation and not trying to get 16 quadrillion subscribers.
Yeah Hatter. Because MMO's aren't just about some kind of frivolous entertainment or making money - they are about principles, moral fortitude, freedom and all that is good and just in this world. MMO's are not some trivial add-on to real life. They are life. The revolution is now. If your vision is to become a reality - we must not simply wage this important war with just words. Let us pick up arms and destroy the EVIL called WoW that has brought us to the brink of this eternal abyss......
I smell funny buisness....with over 5.5k quests and counting, plus the fact you gain level xp for CRAFTING, HARVESTING and grinding....I highly doubt you ran out of quests.
