On a side note who ever said they can get on their server on entry is lying, every server has a queue I just checked.
Look you can sugar coat this anyway you want to the point is, if I was in head start I wouldn't be bitching so their is obviously a problem and waiting 5-6hrs (assuming the client is even right, which it isn't) is ridiculous. When you shit it stinks and NCsoft just shitted a pile they can't deodorize. They had the numbers, there is no EXCUSE! ZERO!

Nobody is sugercoating this, actually the people you disagree with are telling it like it is, you just don't like it, so what does that say, you are the one that wants it sugar coated?
Yes, ncsoft had the numbers, but so did you. And consdering they never said they was adding more server for head start, shouldn't you have come to your own conclusion? Because if this is what you came up with (playing the game before they got everything situated) it's a pretty bad one.
Because these issues are expected on launch day, not during the head start.
That makes sense, considering the math question they set out for you, 400k people vs. 12 servers. I don't know, seems pretty hard. The funny thing is 400k people is the norm for a launch day, I pretty much seen 12 servers and knew this would not work out as intended for people. And you knew this before hand, so expecting the head start to go better then launch, is just silly.
So if the math is so easy and simple, and little ole me, a non-programming, non-MMO developer, college professor in GA, should have foreseen the issue, then why didn't NCSoft?
They did which is why the servers were balanced and had queues. Thanks for giving me a run down on your personal achievements, to bad none of those teach common sense.

FYI I just logged in, created a new toon and am in-game right now. Server is Yustiel, it was the first server I tried.

Nope, doesn't make sense to me, you have very selective reading there "professor" didn't I say in many threads it's their problem? You still miss my point, and will probably continue to do so. You knew there was 400,000 people waiting to get in to play this at head start, you knew there was only 12 servers. You still decided to purchase the game, I'm not supporting NCsoft at all, I'm calling you out on your ignorance. But what do I know? I'm just a construction worker with no superior title such as professor.

Aye the 10min queue has been gone, it was the lowest queue but still a queue none the less. The point of pre-selection however was reserve your character on the server you wanted to be on. For those who went on a popular East coast server are now sitting 4-5hrs just to get in. The worst part is once they get in and they disconnect, guess what. yep queue of 4-5hrs. Enough to piss you off for the rest of the day if not tomorrow, specially if you made plans to play. I don't take off work for games but I there is a high percentage that do, so to those it's a stab in the back.

I'd go along with your last piece there except for the fact you can't cancel your pre-orders once codes are sent out. Depending on when you purchased it you didn't have any clue to how many servers or how many people. The last minute you did, when canceling was immanent.

So don't pre-order, we all gotta learn one way or another, I just can't trust the gaming industry anymore until I get to see the FINAL product for myself.

Watching the train wreck and counting the tears. Make me. I have a lot of clues. Would you like to buy one? People experience this at every highly anticipated launch. It's usually the same people yelling about it every time too. Serioulsy though you may as well calm down.
It's not normal that's the problem, it shouldn't be standard. We shouldn't have to wipe NCsoft's ass when they screw up and say it's ok we'll just wait. They are a company with a product that they are selling. If I went and sold an application that the client couldn't access or had limited access to, I'd loose the contract. These companies need to start being held accountable, fined whatever it takes to stop this lazy bullshit. No other industry can get away with, why the hell should they.

No I get your point and I understand what I you are saying. Your argument is I should know better. My argument is the company should know better. I apologize for thinking a company that advertises its pre-order program and promises a "head start" would have the capability to handle it.
See, you got the idea right, but you're getting me entirely wrong. I don't think you owe an apology to anybody, including NCsoft. I think complaining is getting nothing done. And the fact that you believe these companies is hilarious. I'm looking foward to ToR, BioWare is one hell of a company, but I'll be damned if I believe everything said until I see it for myself. Even though I'm looking foward to it, I won't pre-order and wont play it till I see some feedback or watch a friend try it out. Just how I work, I save myself money and a headache.
Then wtf you doing here? Get out. You have no clue on the issue at hand from experience.

You obviously have no business background. It's not their fault that their product is doing better than they expected.
You obviously have no business background. It's not their fault that their product is doing better than they expected.
Wrong....they KNEW how well it was doing and how many pre-orders they had. That is one excuse they cannot use.
I think they used the formula that the JGE Devs talked about once. I saw them state they thought they would have to invite about 40,000 people to have average concurrent numbers of 3,000 (on one server).
NCSoft knew they had 400,000 pre-orders so 12 servers would put them slightly under that ^^ number.
The thing is from my perspective the NA release being on a sunday (which most people have off) um hello. The next problem is that many people no longer pre-order games. Just imagine if they sell another 400,000 copies this week...
I mean I'm sorry but if AoC and WAR could ship and/or sell 750,000 to 1,000,000 units then Aion should expect the same.
If they really wanna stick to the 12 server thing it might work for them in having no mergers.. but they are going to lose a lot of potential customers.
The other issue is the 8 character limit. So if you made all your characters.. then half your guild/alliance (who couldn't be on until late as an example) can't even log on.... So they decide "hey lets roll over to Kasinel because we can log in"..
Well now you're screwed because you can't create any characters.. and you can't get on your "old" server to delete any.
I wasn't even aware there was an 8 character limit. This didn't affect me as my "pre-made" can't even all be on until later this week.. so things may clear up.
Just a few bad decisions.. but its not as epic fail as a few launches have been.
so you're too lazy to find it for yourself? Or would that just take time away from your whining?
Well considering I have yet to see a server without a queue...
Not sure I understand where the problem is on this one. I made my first attempt to log in at 3:15 and got right in with no queue on Elyos Kaisinel. Played with virtually zero lag for about 2 hours, and logged out to make an Asmo on Nezekan, and again logged right in with no queue. Played that for about 30 minutes and logged back out to go back to Kaisinel which again let me log right in with no queue and zero lag.
Was this an issue with only a couple servers or only on one side mostly? Is it gone already or still there?

The only way to hold them accountable is to not pay for a pig in a poke but wait until they have a product ready to sell before buying it. If they can keep playing the same crowd for suckers every time they will. You're part of the problem and what you're doing now isn't part of the solution.
Then we need a standard, it's not the customer's problem, it's the industry's. The customer is just following the trend, the industry created the mold of the trend. How can you honestly blame the customers.

I don't blame the customers for creating the problem. I blame them for not only putting up with it for years but continuing to do so while complaining the whole time. I have very little sympathy for serial stupidity. Like I said give it some time it will get straightened out. They'll add servers a few at a time until it does.
That's fine, I'd agreeing with you if it was an indy company or SOE, EA, Funcom, but NCsoft has a great track record. So I felt safe in my purchase, I felt they could deliver like they always have. No we haven't been deceived or even scammed, but screwed on the time we have purchased. Unless they compensate and even that won't heal the wounds but it's a start. At least then they are apologizing and know they made a mistake.
But as I've been saying the ones who planned to play today cause it was their free time or took off work to dive a little into a fantasy, unless they went to a west coast server that had a small queue never will get in today or gave up trying.
At any rate I gave up long ago, won't have time tomorrow so there was no reason to pre-order except for the shitty items that I didn't want any way. You win some you loose some but you can't help but bitch when you get screwed, that's why we have court cases and that's why their is returns in retail. When a product doesn't work as expected you shouldn't have to put up with, but in this digital world where almost anything goes, there is no hope at least yet for that.
