I guess the giant thing could happen as a world event where they destory the houses and thats a means to introduce player housing? but player housing will probably be instanced so... ah I dont know.  Cool giants though.

I've been thinking that the play houses might not last more then a month if there is a event like that going, but it will give room for other players to build houses when some one else's gets destroyed. :o sure gives a good incentive to go and defend player towns.

are we sure that it is player housing maps? They could add siege zones with destructable buildings.

  • arctarusarctarus Member UncommonPosts: 2,581

No point in building a house that in the end gets destroy. Dont think anyone wana do that, plus things in this game is expensive.

How can you defend something when you're asleep, or you didnt log in for a few days? So i think it may be an area all over a new larger map for players to build.

By the way, there's a girl that seems to tame a horse and it follows her? A new pet class???

    Its gameplay.

Oh yeah majority is gameplay, talking specificly of the giant thing, as a one time event it could be in the game but as a regualr thing would be silly.

Good to see you can finaly swim.. welcome to erm.. 2004... no.. well welcome to a long long time ago.

It looks very *ahem* cataclysmic... under water zone and content, an event that looks like it will change the world for ever... big scary dragons... hey im saying nothing   .... *runs and hides*

Easy you put a timer like they did for forts. I've never woke up one day and said "OMFG asmos took my fort" lol I'm always there to defend in prime time and I'm sure Aion wouldn't allow 4 am player house ninjas. This isn't warhammer thankfully XD.

Not logging in for a days or a month kinda says you deserve to lose it because you weren't their to defend it so why should you keep your stuff when others went out their to defend it. Either way me and you have no idea how they are gonna plan it out but we'll find out soon :).

Very impressive, didn't expect them to be working on half of these features.

Good thing MMOs are showing there is room for evolution in the sense of a true expansion, and we're not talking about a few new levels and skins to allow higher damage numbers.

Its really good for us gamers that companies continue to improve on their game. This patch or x-pac will indeed bring more fierce competition in this market.

Aion with its already beautiful graphics, now adding contents that alot of players want. If they can tackle the issue of "grind" in this game, than we may finally indeed see a "WoW Killer" slowly raising its head.

Now the question is,  how will Blizz counter this???

Cataclysm is their counter attack and I don't think what ever they do to WoW's graphics they'll be able to achieve Aion's great visuals. I doubt they will redo Aion's world when not a lot of people have experienced the game yet at least in NA. So it's either gonna add new zones or add new visuals to already existing zones.  The big main attraction here is the obvious RvR additions and the new mechanics to the fighting and class play styles. :P I dunno you gotta do something really amazing to compete with that. Every patch from WoW seems to be just new content and thats what cataclysm is going to be is just new content. No matter how you try though  WoW is not going any where it has the support of the MTV crowd and it has a brilliant marketing team.

Even though I stopped playing Aion I have been watching it and I think its official that NC Soft is for real about this game and are listening to the Aion players. I agree that this should have bee the game released at launch though.

Problem is the contents that WoW is adding gets old very fast, esp for players that dont raid.

Players in WoW have been asking for housing for a very long time. Though this wont be a deciding factor for players to jump ship, but more or less it will affect them.

Another thing is, after seeing this video, i fear for the future or War...

:( I'm sad to say it but WAR is gonna fall off the charts, no way can WAR make a come back. There have been so many things that WAR has promised to release that they have failed to release and theres no hint of it coming in the future. Like the cities missing the classes missing from beginning of the game and there are still major features that were promised still missing. Aion promised these things they said they would add mounts but the mounts will make a impact in game play and not just be a vehicle to traveling and there you have it in the video mounts which were promised, player houses which were promised as well. and the game has only been out for a year and a few months almost the same as WAR so it's really hard to say what will happen to WAR at this point :(. I'm just gonna give up on WAR and hope for the best with WAR40k MMORPG.

P.S I also wanted to mention that we can't forget about the new title Blizz is making for MMORPG in the secret which probably won't see daylight till 2011/12 but I  think they is going to be their next contender in the market.

I've neem quite far from being an Aion fan... The game just seemed repetative and bland - despite beautiful graphics... but this.... This trailer... if it's happening. I'm there.

I was on the same boat as you. ( geeze I must be giving off a forum whore vibe right now ) My friends forced me to play the game because they left all other games. They got to level 35 and quit I went all the way to 50.... The game isn't what they hyped it up to be to me. At least the PVP/RVR side of it and the grinding wasn't a big deal to me because I always had some instance to run or some coin reward that I wanted or a group to kill world bosses with but I didn't join the game for the PvE and right now the PvP is bleh... pve grinding for pvp gear is not fun and hardly any one out to pvp with. I can see all these issues being address though since it is a PVP focused game and the trailer is gonna keep me playing.

From what I'm seeing so far with the Aion Veteran awards every month and this trailer there might be a good marketing guru in the works.

    Graphically, they can't.

They already have underwater adventuring, of course (as a certain high-caffeine poster has already reminded us).

i see no reason any of the other gameplay elements couldn't be added to WoW. Trainable mounts could show up any time.

Keep in mind that Blizzard has the resources to produce a new MMO every year, if they wanted to. I have no doubt that that terrifies the competition.

Any one else notice that there was no Abyss clips? I didn't see anything in the abyss except maybe the elyos fort in the abyss getting some constructable buildings.

For the people who think this is but a simple PR scam because the game is "hemorrhaging" players, it's not.

If you had been following the game since its release, you would notice that many of these features/changes in the trailer such as mounts, player housing, underwater content etc. have been mentioned one way or another by developers in interviews, blogs, etc. months ago.

They have been working on them for some time, so I wouldn't be surprised if most of this content is already finished (as a Korean dev said).

Also since it's not Aion 3.0 (according to CM Tamat), it's probably different patches to add different things down the road as soon as the content is ready for release (or release EVERYTHING in some 2.0 patch, which is highly unlikely).

This means that It's going to be FREE, and it won't take long before we start seeing the stuff roll in.

    Yes, I'm an optimist.

If i'm gonna play another korean grinder i'll choose TERA over Aion any day. NCsoft is probably one of the worst gaming companies out there, look at their track record...
But honestly them implementing all this stuff just shows what a pos product they released at the start.

Completely this... this is the last NCSoft game I buy and most certainly the last time I pay any heed to fanboi mouthbreathers.

you know from what i saw it just looks like a hyped up version on aion balled up into an expansion. and frankly if they want me to shell out another $50 just like they did for guild wars they can forget it. cuz pointedly this video seems more like a fps then an actual game i see no flying anything the underwater could be cool but come on this shoulda been in aion to begin with. im not impressed especially when the aion logo is in korean so no im not holding my breathe on this one.
