Oww and btw .. this ain`t all coming in one Update. Early next year version 2.0 is planned for release[ also known as the first expansion] and with it some of these features will be implemented. After , the rest will come over time with each new content update.
When a game developer releases a graphics and/or engine update to an existing game, it is done so with the intention of not only retaining existing customers but also attracting new ones.

I don't play WoW but I do know a superior game when I see one. As far as that Cash Shop comment, after all of the bots and gold spammer problems that Aion went through, are you seriously making that comment?
Also remember that one of the things NCSoft will offer in the near future in Aion is the ability to pay real money to change your character's look. So how can you even make that comment? Unless you weren't aware of the planned cash shop in Aion...

Wow has bots and gold spammers, take those blinders off. Every succesfull MMO will always have some form of RMT, so get off your high horse.

Most definitely. This is just what they need to maintain and grow their user base.
It's almost amazing all of the little things they've addressed... swimming, mounts, housing, etc.

You know those NPCs in Aion that offer to perform cosmetic surgery on your character? I know that it's not an official link but I can't be bothered to find one.
As far as WoW having bots and gold spammers, you can't even compare the amount to those in Aion. If you take all of the bots and gold spammers that WoW has on all of it's servers, they will still not be as numerous as those in Aion.

You mean Aion is going to offer the same PAYED services that WoW has had for at least a year now?? OMG, why would they even think of doing that??

Character Re-Customization
Welcome to the Character Re-Customization page. This service lets you customize your character's appearance, and includes an optional name change. Please note that each customization costs $15.00 USD per character customized. If you plan on changing the character's name during the customization, please familiarize yourself with the World of Warcraft Naming Policy.
Things to know before you start!
* This service lets you change your character's gender, face, hair and skin color, hairstyle, name, and other cosmetic features determined by their race and gender combination. You cannot, however, change your character's race or class.
* Each Character Re-Customization costs $15.00 USD (not including applicable taxes). This covers a single customization for a single character.
* A character may only be customized once every 30 days.
* If you change the character's name during this process, the name you choose must be available on the character's realm, and must be within the World of Warcraft Naming Policy.
* A Character Re-Customization cannot be reversed once completed, except by a second customization operation (subject to the above costs and limitations).
* If you change the character's name during this process, then once the name change is completed, your character's old name will be locked from use on the realm for 90 days. After that time, the old name becomes available again and can be claimed by anyone on its realm on a first-come, first-served basis.
* Please review the Character Re-Customization FAQ for answers to common questions about this service.

I think what he was talking about is Perfection66's remark to WoW and the whole 'paid extras' thing, as P66 was making it sound like Aion wont end up doing the same.

i think this is the game that shouldve come out at release and i hope to go the botting goes away then maybe ill play.
How is the botting compared with Lineage II?

I have to wonder though, had we the players not biatched up a storm about NCSoft wanting to launch Aion with Gameguard, would they have had this huge of a problem with it? NCSoft did away with their plan to launch with Gameguard because we told them we didn't want it. Did we help to cause some of the botting problem by doing so?

No, Gameguard doesn't help anything. Its useless, seriously. Every last game that uses it is FILLED with hackers and botters. wanna know why? For the same reason nearly all computer viruses are programmed to work against windows and usually with IE. Because every idiot running a F2P game has the thing. Its too popular, and its too easy to get around.

Gamegaurd still requires a lot of effort on the part of the CSR dept, which NCSoft in the US isnt too well known for (Just because the name is now NCSoft West doesnt mean jack). You would still see the same amount of bots with or without GG because without active GM/CSR/Dev action the bots will and do get around it.
The fact that people are bitching about the botting issues or not resubbing due to the issue is why they are now going after the botting issue.
As for the Video, its really nothing more than a "Please dont leave! We still love you and are willing to change! See? We bought you roses!..."

1 I agree the video looks good,albeit mostly scripted,but still looks good.
2 Yes i also agree putting in some effort when you are making a decent amount of money off the game is the right thing to do.Blizzard should learn from all the other developers who are doing exactly that,That's ok,in the end Blizzard will shoot themselves in the foot and be a second rate developer after they lose there millions of blind followers from WOW.
3 The problem....I already eluded to the fact Aion is lacking big time in any content,and that you WOULD eventually get it.Problem #2,you are going to get this content as long as the subscription rate stays decently profitable,but you are going to PAY for it in expansions.
That is just wrong to me,this is their obvious pattern for gaming,the same way GW's operates,they bank on making more money off you after you already buy the game.Expansions should be paid for only if it is obvious the game has complete content and they want to add more to it or they need to update the game with new added high level content after the game is outplayed by the players.I refuse to support developers when they are obviously trying to rip me off.
I did just that,when i saw how unbelievable cheap the next 3 FFXI expansions were ,i was outraged,they were barely good enough to be free updates let alone trying to sell me that crap,so i quit playing FFXI.
So you know it is a FACT that AION was already making you the next 2 expansion packs long before Aion was released,this was obviously a planned released.SO by the time NCSOFT is done you will have paid 150+ for the game that should have been released.If they somehow by a MIRACLE give you this content free[highly doubt it]then they deserve some props.
I think Aion was definitely a test after the big time failure of TR.They lost their shirt on that game,so IMO they had a definite decision to release Aion in a half ass fashion to see if the game had any following,then and only then would they sink the proper money and content into the game.Aion was released at like 1/4 the cost of TR.

It is possible that these additions will be free when you consider how they handled Lineage 2. Lineage 2 has never had a paid expansion and it has expanded the game quite a bit over the years for free. They have added Gigs worth of content and the map is much much larger than when it began.

and to the people talking about the gold spam and bots, as of last week 90% of the botters i was seeing in game on a daily baises are gone and more and more keep getting banned. and they're ALSO banning the idiots that buy the gold, a former guildie of mine (who we kicked because he was bragging that he bought some epic orb off the AH with kinah he bought) was banned from the game for buying kinah. and spam has been been minimal for about a month or so now. and they keep banning the shops advertising gold sites regularly on my server (yustiel)

How about we argue about the quality of the content rather than box sales or industrial motives. Because lets face it, you can't down play a developer for providing content. Reason being, the motives are RIGHT THERE. It's not a hidden fact that a mmo company wants money, subscribers, and so on.
Getting players into your game = money... Then money = resources for feeding you family and proving players content. Content = More players and "Happy players" hence more and more money. It's a never ending cycle and at the end of the day. "Everyone wins". The player enjoys his game, the developer provides for them while making money and feeding themselves. Notice something here?

and i agree with gw i shelled out for all the expansions and feel that all the game shoulda been one game but then that wasnt subbed if aion wasnt subbed then yea id go back to aion and might even buy said expansions but it isnt and most likely wont be so as ive stated before im not holding my breathe
