Lol he is calling ME an idiot. This is quite funny - ok you are all RAW and most pre reneissance (google what this means :P) ... yet only one person was able to make a claim as to why this monster was even put in game.
And to answer why I chose duke nukem fight - because it is effectively the same . A big ass monster that is trying to kill you while you fight against it with big ass guns ... no intelligence, no tactic, etc.
So all you have is a talk about language? ... Yes, I edited it but before you put your post in (so I went back in time, change it to look like a typo and came back just to read your post?) - I guess my spelling was wrong after all though. Thanks for correcting me. Any more mistakes I made?
it was a typo genius (I did spell it properly 2 posts before this one)
No, idiot. You edited it to make it look like a typo. Your original spelling (quoted in my post) was "renesanse" which is obviously not a typo.
Furthermore, you spelled it incorrectly in the other post: "pre reneissance".

If the KRAKEN is no match for you try to face Vif ,Funny kichu, Banka, Krankone, Ihope, Evaner and other boss encounters. As for the KRAKEN it comes for the ship because the KRAKEN thinks the ship is a big organism and will fiiling him, the KRAKEN doesn't recognise or react to single players and the KRAKEN don't have that much of intelligence other. The thoughts of the KRAKEN is "hhmmm tasty , big meal, swimming ahead, neeed to eat , need to eat".

Did the OP of the vid ever say how they found the Kraken? The seas of DF are huge and would be hard to stumble across him i would think. Does the Kraken search out ships?
Having played DF for about a week and a half now, i can only imagine having this thing attack a ship i was on and just the thought of it makes me happy in the pants
Dude, those videos were totally epic. In the second video where the guy jumps on the kraken, you can tell they're gonna need a lot more ships. They barely scraped off 2-3 ticks of its entire health bar!
Despite the stiff animations, just the thought of that battle is epic.

I know taht (sort off) ... But this is basically just - you take 4 ships and it is down. I dunno ...
Uhh you need to backtrack a little. Name a recent MMO that allows players to havrvest wood and build all kinds of different ships with them and then let tons of people board them and sale the seas wherever they please with wind direction actually helping in the sailing. Add that to giant sea monsters attacking your boat as you sale. Where can you find that?

Technically there's Pirates of the Burning Sea. That game is based around naval combat and that sort of thing, and it's an MMO. Just kind of an FYI

Very cool. This game has turned the corner and it is shaping up as one of the better dynamic, player-centric ecosystem gaming environments that I've been looking for since pre-trammel UO. There is quite a bit of fine-tuning that needs to be done to this game, but it certainly has turned the corner since a year ago.
Again, like most topic, everything quickly boils down to "love X hate". Sad to see that middle ground is ever so rare in discussions, lately. Things have nuances.
As I said in other topic, I am unimpressed by the visuals. Animation is too spastic, texture reminds me of something vegetal instead of animal. Looks jerky, like a giant drummer, because the tentacles do look like logs. A few more articulations would do it lots of good.
The concept and implications in the world are certainly nice and positive. Roaming bosses are that much more interesting than "End-cave bosses". Specially in a PVP game. It's much more natural and intuitive than a static encounter.

UO minus the windspeed. Vanguard for a few years. PotBS minus the boring macro harvest. I think a few others.

Animations and textures aren't something people on the ship focused on but are in the focus of people looking at a video. That makes the difference and leads to such discussions.
Players in game collected timber , iron ore , build a ship, started a journey on the sea and run into a big enemy they didn't expected, the tentacles, the big mouth of the beast, it was terrible. Threatening their ship , the only solid ground and their vehicle on the endless water. Well not so much dramatic..but the story of their journey , why they did build that ship , whereto they sailed, how they felt loosing that ship all such things can't someone understand who just looking at a video with the second hand graphics (in game graphics are better quality then youtube) of action happening without him being involved.

I think theres room for both, this boss is just a numbers game get a few ships together with every 1 on board just spamming a range attack and down it goes, no skills required, where as scripted bosses standing in a dungeon requires skills, placement, awareness and every one working together.
Dude, seriously, are you fucking joking? You have to be joking... you really can't be this dumb.
Lol, he is not dumb he is the self appointed Blizzard delegate to flame anything a game does that may be construed as a threat to WOW subscriptions.
Edit for clarity. I don not play DF but did enjoy the Kraken vid.

But I also like scripted events with more "content" to them. Is there a reason why we can't have both?
The WoW fanbois just need to take a deep breath, and admit that some cool things happen in other games. And let those who play Darkfall enjoy it. I for one, don't play either game. But they both have cool things going on in them. But neither one have enough of what I want to get me to sub.

Just to offer some perspective, the ship fighting the Kraken was a brigantine, the 4th one on this picture.
I'm not sure if it would fare that well against an alliance sailing on the much more expensive Manowar
We need bigger Krakens
