I voted this at a 1, I didn't get any problems logging on to the game, besides downloading torrents a lot using Vuze, and the servers coming down without warning. There's nothing in the world! Things just don't work right. From the AI, to Mobs walking above the world, Sluggish UI, Pathing issues, horrible database access lag, etc... They can make database access better with more optimized code and making stored procs, but if they have to add to the database or move things around it changes everything. Databases should be good right from the start, and should be the first thing made and then code build around it. It looked to be a good game in the theory, but the implementation isn’t working. This whole game should have stayed in the planning phase for longer and issues worked out before anyone got their hands dirty coding anything. If they are having this many problems and there are only a couple mobs (that don’t even work right), basic features, and an empty world, something is really wrong with their code… What is really causing this entire lag when they aren’t accessing the database really? What happens when they add a lot more mobs that need to be updated all the time and more people on the server moving items around and buying things, training skills, crafting, PvP, etc…? Programming isn’t a easy task





 

 

You just pointed out the exact reason why they are wiping every time they release a patch.

I honestly think it is already at that point.  They did not have enough money, so they opened up the beta striving to make more money.  Its going to release soon and it will be the worst MMO launch I have ever seen.  People dog on AOC and WAR but at least those games worked.  People still are having problems with the patcher... they could not even get a professional to create it, a fan made it.  No excuse for this mess.  Period.

It is, even their site has it worded weird.  Still sounds like you have to pay money to get into the beta

Been following this game since announced, and justt played beta for the first time today.  All I can say is that this is a huge disappointment on so many levels.  Character models are aweful, Interaction with NPCs virtually non existent, learning curve is huge do to the lack of detail and information, and really no navigation system.  I logged in and ran around for an hour, and I still don't even have a clue how or what to do.  This coming from a guy whose played almost every MMO to have come out since UO. 

Rated it a 1 out of 10, and that's being generous.  Sadly I was hoping this game would be a winner, but the game just needs to be scrapped altogether.

At least when I get into this game I can manage to play with out CTD every 10 mins, and CPU shutdown every hour due to massive memory leaks (that were still present launch day for VG BTW)
Yeah its rough, and there are still patcher issues that can make it take litteraly days to get into the game. But on the other side of that, this dev team is the best I have ever seen for keeping the community informed of the status of the game, and they have been very straight forward with what they expect the game to be like at release. Still missing a few of the promised things, but hey, it is still beta after all. *raises flame shield*

 

Curious if you could point me to an official post about the patcher, or hell an official post about anything.

If the devs are so communicative (not my experience) I would love to know why they havnt even updated shipping dates on their website (since January is over now)

Well they did make a post today (11th) saying the loot bags were mailed out on the 3rd.  So I guess that's progress...

 

Only 8 days after the fact and it was in a reply way down a thread instead of an announcement but I guess it's better than nothing.   Of course the guy said people should be receiving them "any day now" so we'll see how that ends up...

Well they didn;t give any instructions... am I supposed to uninstall my client now and then reinstall from the DVD I got a few weeks ago and couldnlt use?   Or was that post by Mearlyn meant for the people that still haven't received their boxes 40 days after they "shipped"?

I'd have to give it a 7/10 as well.

Some issues here and there with instructions and client downloading... but i'm competent enough to find a solution to updates/installs and PhysX errors.

but in regards to in-game activity I have not had any problems and have enjoyed myself so far. I enjoy the communication i've gotten, and like where the game is trying to go.

Sandbox elements and overall quality can be compared to wurmonline which I rate about 6/10. Considering the price MO will cost however I can't rate it no better than 2/10.
