So far i haven't found anything even remotely interesting or appealing to do inside this game. It's a mess of needlesly complicated skill-system. But the worst thing is the visual style. It feels like being in a dirty stone-age world, i never ever feel like getting in. As much as i love simulations, i find this game extremely repulsive. I'm sorry. If they want me to endure understanding the working of all those knowledge sub-skills, at least give me some comfort and joy of controlling my character. the FPS camera, the controls, and the lurid looks of primitive SODOMA/GREEKISH towns are simply too ugly to draw me in.
I have to say, when the crafting system was simple it was really fun. It was so easy a cave man could do it. I could just mine for 5 minutes, refine the items, and make the most powerful armor and weapons. The new crafting system with all of the books and grinding skills and grinding money, it is so complicated now, people in the public ventrilo told me to "go search on google how to craft that item" which was ridiculous.
Making it extremely complex is going to make people walk away, they are making it so complex that the only people that will understand it are fans that follow the game 24/7 and read all of the guides word for word on their forum and on their site. Its really a nightmare.

Crafting is a reason I lost interest in this game.. I am not willing to dedicate 1 crit for mining , another for crafting and another to use it. It is way overboard.

Your not hardcore if you don't make 3 different toons, each dedicated to different part of the crafting system. One person is not able to do all of the crafting trees, they can only make 3 toons per account so you have to buy another account just to be able to do different types of crafting.
The guild I was in had everyone make 2 alt accounts to give them a specific crafting tree as 1 person can only do 2 different types of crafting if they still want to have a main. You have to max out a crafting alt using all of the skill points for a specific part of the tree (ie armorsmith, axes, swords, bows, etc) 1 person cant make all the different weapons without purchasing multiple accounts.
So its like this:
2 crafting alts (only 1 type per toon, such as axes, bows, swords, etc)
I think another really bad feature is the charactor actions. I know they didn't have the money for mocap(motion capture), but this is a core part of the game and will never get any better. This is just one of many bad things about the game, I just thought it needed pointed out.

Especially when the NPCs in the towns point towards and stare at the walls like robots lol
The world is gorgeous, to a degree. The vistas are like nothing I've ever seen in any MMO or the vast majority of single-player games I've seen, for that matter. Climbing over a mountain ridge, I crested the top and looked out over a valley and could see what would probably take me several hours to explore. The water effects were nice, and the death "shroud" is a nice touch.
That's pretty much the bulk of my good experiences. It took me days to patch up, but once it finally did I had no trouble logging in. The character creation, however.... horrendous. Most of the sliders are pointless (even if you are a graphics-centered gamer), the facial features were dull and lacking--particularly in the haircut and facial hair departments, full nudity (highly disturbing), and each individual facial feature wobbled as you turned the character, as if they were mounted on a jello mold. Unpleasant. Then there's the ancestry, which I think is a very cool concept... except you have NO idea what you're doing. There is no description, no detail on benefits or disadvantages about the races within the clades. If you jack around with it for a while you can figure out which race specializes in what attribute, but you don't even know what the attributes affect! I'm not so sure letting character age affect those attributes is a good idea, either. The only thing that "seemed" to make sense within the character creation system is the Background, but even the descriptions given about each of those were too vague.
Once I got logged in, the only clue to what I'm supposed to do is the message across my screen that says "Hit 'H' for Help". Now, I'm not one who wants to be led around on a leash like a good doggy. I WANT the sandbox that gives me freedom. But just like you don't give a newborn complete freedom to find a way to feed and clothe itself, find shelter and interact, no one should be tossed into a totally alien world with no clue how to "live" there. No tutorial, no way to find the nearest NPC or town. I don't know about the other towns, but where I started I was on a cliff and the only way I saw off of it was to jump down... and I'm sure you can all imagine how that turned out. So I got an early look at what it's like to be dead in MO, which is different (in a good way). Definitely reminded me of UO (ooOOOooOO), and the strange effects on your view were cool. However, getting a new body was not so cool. Rather, figuring out how to do so was keyboard-smashingly insane. Given the relation to UO, it made sense to have to find a priest but there is no instruction on how to go about doing that.
As for anything else, I can't really comment. I could barely kill a rabbit after looking for 2 days to find anything other than an NPC or another player to even swing my crappy axe at. I figured out how to hack at trees to get lumber, but that can give you motion sickness quickly. Imagine bending over at the waist like you're dodging a bullet over and over again. It makes me dizzy just thinking about it. I got to walk around a lot, so instead of playing an MMORPG, I felt like I was playing the MMO version of Myst, uninhabitated island and all. Honestly, I think I was too generous with a 6. I was thinking, "This is just beta," but they should be well beyond some of the problems they've had here. There is nothing to polish, no sense of purpose in the game, no reason to ever try this once it goes retail... if it goes retail, I suppose. At this rate they'll never make it.
I still hold out hope for UO's successor. Darkfall and MO had the right concepts, there's just no follow through. Surely it can't be THAT difficult to make a game that lives up to the standards we expect from a themepark game in a sandbox package? Or is it just that the only ones who are capable of doing just that have no interest in crafting a sandbox title and are looking more where the big money lies?

If the lag is so bad as people are claiming then can I ask you why I am able to connect from India on a 1mbps ASDL line with virtually no lag. Yes there are occations where the game lags due to heavy load but how come I can manage it but people in the UK / USA can not?
It does not take me 20 mins to bank stuff but people who are a a few hundred miles from Sweeden get terrible lag? I say BS.
Also I am running the game on Advent laptop and it runs very smooth. GFX card HD4670 1GB, quad core 2.00gz Intel.
There are lots of bugs in the game at present but give it some more time and it will be a winner.
The lag is not caused by internet connections but by issues server side... such as their database. Thus it doesn;t matter if you are next door to the server or in antarctica. Perhaps you might benefit from going to the official forum and reading a bit. In particular try and find the official posts from the development team where they discuss the issue.

This game has the possiblities to be what most of us are looking for but it's still far from what we really want. EQ1 had serious problems when it first came out also and if people didn't stick with it we would have missed out on a great game. GIVE THEM TIME!!! 3 to 6 months : )

Can't really say that when at the time EQ1 came out, there where not many MMOs, today there are probably hundreds. You can't compare an MMO that came out 11 years ago to one that is coming out now.
I will be giving it a 1 out of 10. The only thing I see is that people hope it will succeed but the current condition of the beta is a disaster in my eyes. Glad I got a refund.
Why did they vote 10 and just leave? Why not explain themselves? I understand how someone voted a 1 but not a 10.

More than 70% of those that voted gave it a score of between 1-5 out of 10. I think that speaks volumes and is incredibly generous. The game and the company are full of incompetence, this game is years from being playable.
Nailed it. Looks like the overwhelming trend is negative for a fairly large sample. Sounds like they need another year but I don't think that's what's going to happen.

There is another explanation for the 10s. For some people, all that is needed to make the perfect game is a combination of exploits and full loot. With that as the criteria, MO is at least an 11/10.

They can't and won't justify a "10".... Either they're shills, random troll, insane or voting on "Hope".
I would bet cash a large portion of those 10 votes came from the same person.
I want MO to be a success, but acting as if everything is great will kill it. Rabbid fanbotz will play a huge roll in its failure.
