Well just to try and be the voice of reason, most of the post in this thread weren't overly hateful... if anything they seem pretty level-headed, and perhaps sometimes flippant, they are mostly to the point. While I understand your rant and frustration, if you read through all the posts in this thread alone, you'll see that there is a point to all this. It's not necessarily "us" vs. "them", but more like we are being critical about issues w/ Starvault's quality assurance in regards to MO. Let's face it, theres be plenty of legitimate issues people have posted, over and over, but that's because they want this game to succeed, rather than watching yet another of many indie MMO's fade away into obscurity and mediocrity.
When I first saw screenshots of this game, back before Darkfall was even released, I have to admit I have had my hopes up since then. But with all the issuse that arrose, can you really blame people for getting a little bit mad at Starvault. You have to admit quite a few things have gone wrong.
Personally I'd like to see this game succeed, but seeing the events leading up to present in regards to their title, please forgive those players who have become a little bit cynical and jaded thereof. It's really not us vs. them, it's just we want a good MMO pvp game to be released... is it too much to ask for quality these days?
I'm all for a bit of mudslinging if it's for the right reasons. For example, I am totally all for consumers vs. corporations. I feel that when a company promises something to people it should hold up those promises and provide exactly what they initially stated from the get-go. I understand why people are angry at SV, and I feel bad for those who already sunk money into MO. People who paid and genuinely want the game to succeed but are getting shafted are the victims here. It is a legit argument when a fan or potential buyer jumps in here and states that they paid for something that they aren't getting and are demanding retribution.
It is not legit when someone comes into the forums and starts bad-mouthing the game or company solely because they feel they have a right, even when they haven't paid a single cent or kept an eye on development. Same goes for a player of another game jumping on here to rant that his game is better "because it just is" and that the other game is going to fail.
Rather than going about their business and playing the game they like, they feel threatened by this game (or others, in general) and waste time spouting off mindless bullshit.
To be fair, and trying to be as neutral as possible, I feel that legitimate haters who have been shafted by SV thus far have a right to rant. The same goes for fans with exceedingly high hopes, and generally positive expectations. These two sides shouldn't be at each other's throats however. If anything it should be all users against SV. It doesn't have to be all out war or anything but if the entire community for the game stuck together perhaps they could put some pressure on SV to do the right thing in the end.
It's just painful to see so many people obviously torn up inside over a silly game. The only real solution is to just wait, pressure SV and stop treating fellow players like complete bullshit. We're all in the same boat here, regardless of our outlook on the game's future. We either deal with it in a civil manner or simply walk away. It's not rocket surgery.
So a studio mentions to post respectfully due to the overwhelming number of ill-informed, hateful posts on this site, and that spawns more hate?
I think it's the mentioning on their forums to post positive counter-propaganda to our supposed "ill-informed, hateful posts" as you put it that has cause a bit of a stir here. While it's not necessarily illegal, there is a sort of suggestion of strategy that seems somewhat unethical, if not completely unbaised. Doing as such would tend to leave one to believe that such tactics are an attempt at "fire-fighting" counter-propaganda campaign. However in Starvault's defense, this suggestion as I read it on their forums was suggested by a member and not an official SV employee (well as far as anyone can tell).

Again. So they asked to post respectfully about facts relative to the game (aka propaganda), and you find it distasteful? Yea, the post was not from the studio, I see, and does the OP try to pin it on the studio? I'm confused as to the outrage here.

OMgoodness, I don't think I'm being hateful at all, and you only quoted a small part of what I wrote. It seems unfair, and now my quote seems hateful on the surface level. Really that's unfair tactics Cik_asslin. You just took what I wrote and put it in a completely different context, when I was only trying to be the voice of reason.
Edit: Did you read any of my other posts here? It clearly shows that I'm more of an objective poster. I'm not bashing SV, but more a concerned hopeful for their MO title, and I understand why lots of other hopefuls are upset.

Again, I edited it earlier for clarification. So i pose the question again. I looked at what you wrote, and am asking openly. . .why the hate or why do you (not you but anyone) find it distasteful for a community member to post respectfully about the facts of the game is a sea of hate posts.

Im missing a key portion of that post? Both of them that show that a community member asks to post respecfully and positively about a game that is being slandered on a gaming site that they may not be aware of? So I am really trying to understand the spin about why that is so discouraging. Why the hate or why do you (not you but anyone) find it distasteful for a community member to post respectfully about the facts of the game is a sea of hate posts?

Look at the first 8 replies to the OP. 1 of them goes further into detail and lists some posts and the other 7 of them belong to Slapshot1188, Rlmccoy1987 and HanoverZ. That's exactly what the guy was saying in the MO forums. How there's 4 people roughly who just post negativity and more or less respond to eachother continuously. The fourth, of course, would be HerculesSAS. Way to prove his point guys. It's funny that you actually call them pathetic.

I don't know about that. I've just read through a lot of their threads, and they make some valid points. Most of the posts don't even seem hateful, but like constructive criticism.
Well good luck to you Calidor, I wish you well, but I think I'll stay within the safety of the MO forums.
I gave up on this game months ago as I could see the writing on the wall about SV and their tactics.
They are very arrogant and unprofessional to say the least and thats not a good thing when you are a struggling indy developer IMO.
The more stuff I see like this the more I think SV is taking customer service advice from the staff of Realms of Torment/Mourning. The only thing we are missing is the lead producer coming here and ranting and threatening posters.
The game itself is not in as bad of shape as RoT/Mourning was but everything else is right out of their playbook.
Good luck to those that continue on this journey with MO. I have a feeling you have some very rough seas ahead of you.
*EDIT*
For clarification I realize the linked thread in the OP was not started by a SV rep, as far as we know. My comments were more of an "in general" type of comment.

Logic? Impossible! Fanboys and Haters a like can be blind but in this case I think there is more valid points on the hate side than the fan side. All up to SV now. I really wanted this game to make it as it had some good ideas.

I dont get it. Are these people posting hate at a loss of money that they spent in a pre-purchase? There is something I might be able to understand if they felt disenfranchised. But to post so furiously in a disenfranchised tone about a community member mentioning that other sites are slamming them, and to post respectfully about the state of the game? What's the fear for?
I'm neither a fan or hater, but as I did with DF, am waiting for the dust to clear on this title. After I did so with DF, I spent 6 very enjoyable months playing that game hard; it was fun. And AV has a good product now. I Just dont get this attitude.

I was just trying to answer to your post that not all of us in mmorpg.com are hateful nor ill-informed. I respect you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't necessarily have to agree with it (well at least not in my case).

But I didnt raise an opinion. Its more bewilderment at the situation of outrage and fear, i guess, that a community member for a game at their site mentions what he mentioned in a non-threatening way about a situation of perceived, well maybe actual, hateful posts about the game their following, but on another site.

Well bugger me sideways someone actualy gets it, well done mate, most of us are all for opinions and critique, but when the same 4 people just bounce off each other in some sort of forum ego masterbation it makes any in depth discussion pointless.
As you know the same 4 people will flood any post about MO with the same whine, its pitifull, it may be true, its more than likely accurate but for petes sake take a freakin week off, your rapidly becoming more of a joke than the product your demonising.
But in forumland that sort of fame even if its a bad joke rep is still epeen worthy, maybe you 4 should add "xx" before and after your name and go for the total image. Claiming to be banned is a notorious step towards forum epeen epicness.
But in this age of concern for the enviroment and wastefull use of resources, maybe your 4 should just get a room, to save costs I mean..........o<
For objectivity sake I have to say that discussions about MO on these forums are way more relaxed than at MO's forums. Yes, some guys here can from time to time be overzealous but they are far more good humored than MO forums' fanatical zealots.
Since yesterday there are discussions at MO forums where people express their doubts about an announced release time and ask to use a free month for preorders not at the release but later. Well, self appointed fanbois inquisitors attack such posts with so much vehemence that it is unbelievable. "you morons", "gtfo", "throw 50 euros in eurocent coins into their face for refund" these are some examples from MO forums - one can check it in MO general discussion thread.
I think that if one looks like a village idiot (SV with that MO) then it is no big surprise that people will start making fun of that.

Again. So they asked to post respectfully about facts relative to the game (aka propaganda), and you turn hateful. Enjoy the hate.
I don't think he's being hateful at all.

Again. So they asked to post respectfully about facts relative to the game (aka propaganda), and you find it distasteful? Yea, the post was not from the studio, I see, and does the OP try to pin it on the studio? I'm confused as to the outrage here.
Edit for clarification

Again, I edited it earlier for clarification. So i pose the question again. I looked at what you wrote, and am asking openly. . .why the hate or why do you (not you but anyone) find it distasteful for a community member to post respectfully about the facts of the game is a sea of hate posts.

You seem to be missing a key portion of the post. I removed the "respectfully" part to aid you
"go post that we have faith in the release and plan to enjoy it!"
Then mmorpg.com is inundated with one post wonders claiming the game is PERFECT!
I win!!! LOL@U

Am I the only one who sees how funny this shit is? Look at the first 8 replies to the OP. 1 of them goes further into detail and lists some posts and the other 7 of them belong to Slapshot1188, Rlmccoy1987 and HanoverZ. That's exactly what the guy was saying in the MO forums. How there's 4 people roughly who just post negativity and more or less respond to eachother continuously. The fourth, of course, would be HerculesSAS. Way to prove his point guys. It's funny that you actually call them pathetic.
Well above is my entire quote so that it's not taken out of context an deemed hateful. The following is an example of what I mean by unethical tactics on Calidor's behave (or at least in his intent... zerogod seems okay though, and reasonable just to be fair).

Listen, I give up. Going back to dumpster diving.

Zerogod seems rational. I'm sure MMORPG.com appreciates the extra traffic.

A good game needs no defense. A bad game has no defense.

Freddy ..... Love your work
I win!!! LOL@U
