I reckon Eve sure as hell deserves 'a' spot in the top 100 but is it just me or is the rest of the top 5 (aside from Deus Ex) an utter joke! Wtf was every gamer born in the last few years or something.
HL2 was certainly no better than HL1, Fallout 3 no better than Fallout 2. TF2, a good game but there are far better contenders on the MP scene both young and old. I really hate these lists, because every time I see them the classics which freakin defined genres just get crappy consolation spots if a spot at all, whereas all the 2's and 3's (which are just the same thing with better graphics) get top honors. Ridiculous and just lame-ass marketing spin.
Yeah I just wanted to rant about the list but it's good to see Eve in there.
Yea have to go with you there Half Life 1-2 were just average to me , Fallout 3 was a joke and completely devoid of what made it popular, (New Vegas promises to be akin to the first 2 games) Team Fortress another so-so game , Counter Strike another meh game, much of the older games on the PC Gamer Editoral Top 100 has a lot of classics on their list but left out a lot of great PC games. EVE earned its spot due to being completely different and unique and for the fact that its one of the few games or the only one that has maintained a steady playerbase over the years alongside Final Fantasy 11 both niche games but still very different and unique in their own way, WOW I have to say earned its spot where it was placed , all it has for it is polish and addiction to gear and copied every MMO before it, along with its horrid community and its questionable game mechanics goes to show 11 million or 6 million doesn't mean you get the title of #1 being the best cause of numbers.
I take it back. The tears in this thread are at least as good in the GoTY-09 thread.

I kind of dodged a bullet a couple of weeks ago I posted some screenshots from the adult social game Red Light District and got a 1 week ban figured it being in the off-discussion forum and in a thread that asked about porn in MMOs I showed him some shots guess I was a bad boy , if any mods are reading "I'm sorry " you figure hey if people are allowed to swear and discuss politics and religion with very offensive remarks and political bigtory I can post pixels that look like boob (shrug)

One of the popular factors of SWG too, player housing was a big issue, think there was even competitions for the best decorated house. so the attraction of those factors in a game are probably not to be underestimated.
Eve is a pretty good game. My one and only problem with the game is the skill based leveling. I play mmos alot more than i should and to get my character no were in the amount of time i would put into it is in my opinion a put down. I understand that lots of people love that form of leveling so thats why i just dont play it :P

I love housing in SWG I had a small house and a guild hall on Dantoonie near the Jedi Temple ruins, it took me months to get the hall the way I wanted it, turned it into a museum along with displays of everything I collected from 2003-to the end of 2008 even had some of my pets on display back when I had a creature handler, I miss my rancor , the only problem in SWG's housing is how it was implmented and how it failed to address the cluttering issues and abandonded structures they eventually did what they should have done back when the exodus took place they now let the players flag abadoned buildings , they are flagged after 3 months of inactivity (not logging in) so for the most part the problem is semi-fixed . Its a concept that can be improved upon for sure and put into future games.
It's kinda cool that eve was even in the top 100 but at the same time I dont think it should be taken so seriously that we need people going back and forth like children.

Still, I get a little miffed about stereotypes, especially when games like "Gothic" 4 (the real Gothic was Risen, btw.) include different color schemes for euro/usland. CCP has created simply the most amazing piece of mmo software in existance today problem is you need a bit of an imagination and the ability to set goals for yourself to fully immerse yourself in its IP.

But I've played plenty of soccer, talked with the players, watched many matches, understand the rules, the culture and why some people like it. I still don't have to like it myself and I can always say that ice hockey has more action, more drama, better refereeing (4+video ref) and more goals.

Well i suppose half Life 2 is good, as is Deus Ex, but going on the other 4 other than Eve i wouldn't really be overly excited to see it there.
