There will be plenty of gil farmers that you can contact that will have a leveling service, since you dont care and want to just enjoy the more complex end game where it wont seem a bore to you
Please... I havent said I don't want to earn my levels and enjoy the levelling experience... just that the combat looks mindnumbingly slow.
Refusing to endure a boring uninspiring combat system shouldnt be something to be criticised for.
Yes the combat is slow from everything we have seen, does this make it a bad game?
Well, potentiolly yeah actually.
till you actully play it Its not numb minding slow. if yout hink its to slow then just go play some button smasher mmo
Please.. telling people what 'they should go play' is just unnecessary.
I am not saying it is this or that, I am just saying that by what I have seen it looks very very slow, and thats a fair obseravtion.
What MMO would you compare it to playwise in tersm of speed? Assuming you have played it yourself?
Agree with you on the mechanics. I think that the slowness everyone is talking about is that in a nutshell, thanks for pointing it out.
See people he actually explained it and I totally agreed with him, and it was done with few words and it was simple and to the point, not this is slow so therefore it sucks.
The game is basicly made for playstation so they wont follow ur regular mmo rules. Even for pc version u need a gamepad to play no wonder there is no pvp in this game.
These post are slow coming come on people I need more controversy so I can post stuff....
Sorry Vesa, I agree with some of your points its just that you are killing me here lol, just wait and play it and if it does not improve then well move on, I will be doing the same thing as most of those that have already preordered, we will try it out and if it does not work out well it does not work out and we will move on to some other MMO... Still wanting to try GW2 and maybe TERA and stuff, but this one is the one coming out now so....
I know! Everyone knows that normal world mobs are supposed to be 2-3 hit kills, tops, or they're simply too strong and need to be nerfed.
How are players supposed to feel powerful if world mobs aren't falling like flies before their blades, bows or spells?
Sheesh.
On a serious note...
What I don't get is where there's some rule that states combat is supposed to be a certain speed in a MMO, or it's too slow? Where does it say that a world mob - or any kind of mob - is supposed take no longer than "x seconds" to defeat?
The combat should suit the gameplay. FFXIV isn't about mowing down hordes of mobs a la your typical Lineage 2 style grinder. It's not about grinding through mobs in under 10 seconds a la a typical WoW clone. Just like other FF titles, it's about slower, more strategic fights. And no, the videos we've seen of combat to date are not an example of the more strategic fights in FFXIV. The more strategic fights will come in the tougher guildlevels, or larger encounters where a party of players is taking on a group of mobs... player and mob positioining, crowd-control, aggro management, etc... all that will come into play and, yes, will be more strategic.
You wouldn't expect to see tougher, challenging and strategic fights in the early levels of WoW, or LoTRO, Eve, or any other MMO, so it's pretty disingneuous to place such an expectation on FFXIV.
Like FFXI, FFXIV will be a Final Fantasy game online. It's not going to be a FF theme shoe-horned into yet another WoW-style. SE has their own ideas of the kind of game they want to deliver, how they want it played and how the pacing should be. That's the game they're going to deliver. If an individual can't enjoy the game that way, then fine... FFXIV isn't the game for you. Hopefully you'll find one that suits you well next time.

And I am glad no PVP, one less thing to worry about, for one the game would never-ever get finished if you had the PVP mechanics to worry about, talk about slow imagine if there was actual PVP. PVP would kill it even further, and while they did have the PS3 in mind I don't think it was all based on PS3 since it will not be coming out for PS3 until March and since PS3 does not have the amount of horse power to run it very well to begin with. But they did do the mechanics and UI around the PS3 I think.

yea i believe your right about the ui i dont find the ui bad tho very simple to be honest
The pace is fine, it's the mechanics that need work.
Passive/active mode is a mess.
Having to stop to pull out and put away your weapon creates the same animation delay as XI. It needs to be fluid and instant. But this we already know and has been talked to death already.
yea game is still beta so i would wait until about 2 weeks form release before worrying

Because it's less than 2 months away.. is there even much hope of that being significantly adjusted prior to launch?

It was a question. I don't know too much about S-E timestamps for incorporating feedback into their MMO since I don't play FFXI.

Do you think it was a good idea to port it to the PC. Or should they have left it console only ?
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

If I get it I'd play it on the PC and just use a PS3 controller if the consensus is it's better to use that versus mouse and keyboard just because I like where my PC is and it'll keep the TV and PS3 free for my boyfriend
TBH i think they will make the controls like it was with FFXI , that you dont need the mouse at all. Is really easy to play with the keyboard only.I still play with a xbox360 pad , way more comfortable to play anygame that it actually lets you do so imo.

they didnt port it to pc Oo
Really..and all this time I thought those vid's were from PC's using controllers. haha
Maybe it's best they leave it that way.

Mmm ports never turn out very good, best to leave it console only. IMO

Well I think this game is more unique in that it's not really a "port," the design philisophy from the game's conception was to make it viable for both systems, according to my understanding.
