As per an article on FFXIV Core, which they got from the official site, you can now post about your Beta Experience and post any screenshots you have.
You just can't show video yet.
So go nuts and let us know more goodies about FFXIV ^_^

*goes nuts*
The camera controls are much better now while using mouse.. but we still need at least a hardware mouse cursor to make it good enough.
FPS cap was previously 30, now it's uncapped. As a result some skill animations are a bit on the "fast-forward" mode now and it looks comical.
The exp gain during GuildLeves is insane now.
It is not, you can breach it on your own whim if you really want though. They only allow posting of screenshots, nothing else, here's the actual agreement if you wish to read it.

In other words when deciding whether to post something or not, read the NDA first, then read this agreement, it would seem they intend on updating it going forward.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
Well heres my opinion and info...
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
I liked ffxi and played it a while. But this game is soo broken that it is even with or possibly worse than AOC beta and release.Ill list some issues...
1: While crafting or gathering everyone is still getting errors that auto disconnects them from the game. if this happens while on a levequest..(ffxiv's quest system) then you auto fail the quest and have to wait 48 hours to try it again. Currently, you can only have 8 crafting and 8 battle quests in your log every 48 hours....yea its as bad as it sounds.
2: While keyboard and mouse got some modification, its still using a software mouse that turns sluggish depending on your FPS. There are menu errors with fetching information from the servers with even the simplist things as trying to bring up your skill menu, forcing you to try and bring it up 2 to 3 times to get the info you want. Same thing happens to stores when fetching what they have for sale.
3: The battle system is sluggish and the animations dont match most of the TP skill usuage when stamina is actually used. Another words, the battle system is sluggish and gets even worse if there many people around you. Theres still bugs from not getting XP to not getting the "correct" xp from fights, let alone bugs from not getting any xp for certain classes while grouped. Basically the system is flawed at its core.
4: The UI is just bad. UI's are supposed to be the medium that connects the gamer to the game and help fascillitate actions. this UI does the exact opposite. it hinders you in almost every way. From 10+ menus to go thru to craft 1 item, to clunky battle commands while fighting. its by far the worst UI I have ever seen coming from a beta tester of 10 plus games.
5:The graphics are good. Everything looks sharp and clean. But everything is reused over and over. 1 cave in the ground is EXACTLY like the next cave in the ground except for some mobs. Even tho the game looks good, the 1st starting area we have been able to test called Limsa is just bland. There is absolutely nothing that makes you go.. wow look at that!
ill leave off here. these are the 5 things that jump to my mind at present. i could go on about the core design being just.. bad but meh. This is the only beta I have ever been a part of, that i could only stand to test an hour at a time.. max. To me the game is annoying in every aspect and in my OP, its in an alpha stage and not near rdy for release.
yawn...
beta will have bugs, they are already known issues and are working on it. I'm loving the combat system and the ui is fine. Don't freak out for nothing. If you have been a beta tester for however many games you say, you should know this. Hasnt been one beta I've been in that hasn't had something wrong. And guess what, when the release comes around, there will still be bugs. And they'll get fixed.
Fin.

Theres a difference in between a buggy game and a broken game. FFXIV is in the broken catagory. Its broken at its core. look over what i posted and think about why the system is working the way it is. It isnt bugs, its bad design.
okay . whatever you say ^_-

My only problem with the game so far since alpha is the updater it's terrible lol! Other than that i love the game.

Have to agree, unfortunatly.
you say this on all games. i hope people know not to listen to anything you say
LOL this pointless opinion again. Go post it in a few more FF14 threads.
LOL, no I don't. There are plenty of good and decent MMOs around, but this isn't heading in a direction where it will be one of them.
Fanboi's and such can pretend as much as they like, but its not long until release now and people will see for themselves.
Everyone is allowed an opinion...it's a forum, afterall. The gentlemen/lady listed quite a few reasons why he/she has this opinion, but no one has yet to refute ANY of them. Just pointing out that he/she has said this before doesn't mean he/she's wrong.
It's quite easy to refute.
It's a beta. Beta has bugs. Bugs will get fixed (as they have been thus far.). Also, is this opinion based on beta 2 or beta 3? If beta 2, then it should be disregarded as a whole.
As for point number one's comment on the quest system, it is designed for 8 quests every 48 hours for a reason. The devs want you to group up and do quests together. If you run out of battle quests, then you go and join someone else's and you'll still get credit for it. This is exactly what they said in a previous interview... let me find it.
Edit: Sorry, it wasn't an interview, but an e-mail sent out to testers by Nobuaki Komoto.
"Guildleve and Party Play
We have received feedback saying that there aren’t enough monsters since Guildleves only get updated once every two days and testers are forced to battle monsters outside of levequests. There are two reasons behind this problem. One is that we didn’t explain our intentions clearly enough and the other is that what we intended is not working properly.
Levequests are designed to be a part of the game that players can enjoy casually in solo situations. However, levequests are also designed as an element for parties to take part in. To make sure they work for both kinds of players, it comes with the ability to adjust their level of difficulty. Even if you were to run out of levequest offers for a particular challenge, you can still join in on the levequests of others. This also comes with the following advantages:
- Both skill level and physical level can be increased
- You are able to receive the mission reward (Gil)
The system is designed to have no disadvantages for having more players in the party. So in case you run out of offers on available levequests, please cooperate with others and tackle other various levequests.
If you currently have levequest offers available, or levequests that may be a bit difficult at your level, please try and recruit some party members. Those of you who are familiar with FINAL FANTASY XI are probably already aware of this but a party is formed by a leader running a search and recruiting members by directly contacting the player. However, in order to lessen the burden on party leaders, we have implemented a feature where players can automatically join the party if they meet the requirements set forth by the party leader.
We are planning to implement features in response to feedback such as "Allow us to form a party if our current physical level matches, even if our skill levels are different" and "Allow us to form a party even when we are far away from each other, but able to use Teleport" in Beta 3. Since there still are many parts of the game that are incomplete, we wish to receive more feedback on things of this nature.
As you can see, we would like testers to enjoy the party play options in levequests but at same time we are aware that the game is not optimally balanced yet. For example, skill rank increases more during battles against levequest monsters in comparison to normal monsters. Also, while under the effects of Guardian’s Favor, skill will increase even faster. However, considering the effort required, such as traveling time, we feel that more bonuses are required to encourage players to build up their characters by participating in other player’s levequests. For this reason, drastic changes will be made in Beta 3.
There are many other parts where party battle is not well balanced yet and they are the reason why party play is not very active. Therefore, we welcome more feedback on party play."
Yes true there will be bugs in a beta, but this far on in beta and still so many bugs leaves a question to be answered, will they "All" be fixed prior to launch, i hardly doubt it.
Its clearly beta 3, by the comments he made around combat and the controls.
They are also not quests, as such. More of a spawning terminal for grinding mobs, with limitations and cooldowns, as indicated.
I added what Nobuaki Komoto said in my previous post.
As for your comment on bugs not being fixed (or rather, you doubt they will be), this is what beta is for. While they have dissolved some of the NDA, some of it is still there to protect against the bugs that are not yet fixed. Obviously, SE will fix them. When was the last time you played a game by SE that was riddled with bugs come launch?
The game is a month away and they seem to have added and fixed up most things to how they want. Now it's the time to squash whatever bugs may be roaming about.
I'm not going to try and convine people otherwise. If you aren't sure about the game, go ahead and wait two weeks to see how things are and if they improve. If not, then don't play.
You are missing the point he made, focusing just on the bugs. Bugs don't really matter, when the design is so poor anyway. They only add to any problem.
I don't understand what you're trying to get it. (Mostly because I'm not sure who you mean by "he" and which point.)
I'm sorry.
Sorry I'm referring to bhronn's post.
The only bugs he mentions are the gathering and XP ones. The bulk of his post is about design mechanics.
"As you can see, we would like testers to enjoy the party play options in levequests but at same time we are aware that the game is not optimally balanced yet."
Is not optimally balanced YET.
Not balanced YET.
YET.
This is called "beta", not "release".
"TO MICHAEL!"
Here's a little fact. They are not going to re-code the core game mechanics or change the fundimental design of the game. Especially not in a matter of weeks.
Balancing and bug fixing is not going to address the underlieing issues. All they will do is polish a turd.
LOL you and your buddy are one of the few that think there are problems with the core mechanics. Yeah you two know better than an established company. Hahaha makes sense to me.
Before you pull the fanboy card because I know it is coming. I think there are plenty of issues and probably will not be playing this game long term.
One of a few, lol. This game is getting panned, by the majority who get a look at it.
I keep an eye on a lot of non-fansites and forums bro your flat out wrong on that one. Once you get past the nerds that cannot get past no jump a lot more positive feedback than negative by far.
Wrong, just wrong. There is a lot of positve expectations and hopes, but not positive feedback.
