I had the feeling the GW2 combat was a bit more pleasing to watch, but then in Rift I only had a low level char.

Don't let you be fooled by the many low res vids from Rift made with some camcorder. Such vids really don't do Rift justice. I read it looks bad, because too many cam vids circulate here. Trust me, Rift looks really great in real. GW2 DOES looka tad better, but it's really no bad looking game as some here say.

so how did star wars look up close.  if you played it how was the feel of the game?

yep derailing since im about close to giving up on that one.

TOR looked bland and boring close up.

    See my post here: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/288308/SWTOR-Gamescon-2010-impressions.html

thanks alot. nice to get info from someone who was up close. as expected from the vids the combat was meh for me but well you comfirmed it *sighs* oh well thats one game scratched from my list. atleast till its improved.

i love that "rush" skill, i was thinking in going rogue, might just go warrior after this image

Since you seem to love Rift I was going to ask you what is Rift offering that is making you so excited about it but nvm or maybe someone can post some informative link; I didnt find that much info about the game in general.

If you want people to pay more attention to Rift you could maybe show what is good about it than trying to put other games down. Personally, this made me want to look less into Rift but I'll still do.

I am looking more for GW2 because I like the concepts of their game; I really like their ideas and I also like the art in it.

As for the video, I liked it more than the videos I've seen for GW2.

Its either what you prefer or you haven't seen some cool vids of GW2 warrior gameplay. They can do some really cool stuff.

I was not really talking about the gameplay or animations; I'd have to play to see if i like it or not; About the warrior, well I was not impressed with the warrior in that video, I was talking in general about the video but you might be right, I don't think I've seen cool videos from GW2.

Thank you! I've already looked at it and at some of those videos. What I don't like about them is that there are too many flashy things and other little stuff all over; it just seem like too much, and I dont like the interface but I'm sure that it can be changed. It's minor things really...but I don't like watching them because of that.

Yes well, I don't usually reply in these types of threads but I feel I must clarify something to people who mistakenly believe Guild Wars 2 potions heal you. There is only one type of potion, the energy potion. No such thing as a healing potion. Potions can replenish a set ammount of your energy, and that is all. Also, I am an avid fan of both, Rift and GW2. Must we choose?

It is one of the reason that Guild Wars2  is a true challenger to WoW.You don't have to drop WoW sub to play GW2 you can play right along with WoW.

im not saying you cant, but its very possible that GW2 may be adicting enough that they have no reason to anything but that. just because its B2P doesnt mean that it has to be a side game.

So many of the follow on comments are along the lines of the OPs where he says he doesn't like GW2 because of a lot of things he doesn't know because he doesn't follow the game. Shame that being ignorant didn't stop him from posting. This doesn't mean that though in the end that Rift might end up being more successful than GW2 but right now based purely on ideas GW2 has a lot of very interesting ones and is a game well worth following. Yeah Guild Wars was not the most innovative game out there but a lot of people did enjoy it so they did something right.

Pre-release feeling of games seem to surge to great heights only to fall to the deepest of depths lately. FFXIV was the game everyone was in love in and now it is the game everyone is suicidal about. GW2 is suffering a bit from all the interest and the fears of those who expect to be let down by their attempts to do something different.

If Arenanet can get the monster scaling right so that the fact that everyone gets full credit for a kill it could dramatically change the social dynamics of MMO gaming. The lack of unique one of a kind drops to prevent the need to constantly farm the game's random number generator has great potential also. All in all regardless of how good or bad Rift, Terra or any other game might be Guild Wars 2 has potential and I plan on giving it a try.

Looks more towards EQ2 to me, I do not see any wowish at all, Gw2 looks more WoWish after watching that video.

Watch the videos I posted and THEN compare which one looks more WoWish/EQish/Warhammerish. From the text font to the attacks, RIFT looks like the stuff out already. I don't see that with GW2.

I agree with Zeroxin, even though I like Rift,I just feel I have been there and looks like I have already played this game.Trion use the Gamebryo Engine which Mythic used.Trion did a better job than Mythic but the "Deja vu" feeling might be the demise of the game.

GW2 is a breeze of fresh air by being both  Evolutive and Innovative.

Lets face it guys, take a good look a gw2 and then take a really good look at Rift.....now if u have at least half a brain in your head its RIFT ALL THE WAY!!!!!! There is just no comparing the 2 against each other. Just because gw2 has been in development for a long long time does not mean bloody squat!!! more likely they have just had more issues with development, bugz etc. Now take a good look at the amount of polish on Rift and it hasnt even hit the closed beta phase yet!!! GW2= CRIT FAILURE in comparison with Rift. Dont misunderstand me here, im sure gw2 is a good game but trying to compare it or put it in the same catagory as Rift is just shear stupidity!!!! and not fair on gw2. LMFAO

Sorry, I've both taken a good look at Rift and having recently checked with my doctor I am not missing half my brain and yet somehow I just amazingly enough don't find your arguments very compelling.

You say that Rift has more polish and yet isn't even in a closed beta state so how polished can it actually be.

Right now both games are getting a fair amount of attention and coverage by players and the press and both have very good potential. But to discount taking time and making an effort to have a project in development as having no relevance is simply a foolish argument as I will take a well developed and crafted product over something rushed out to market with little thought or care almost every time.

You've presented nothing in the way of reasoned thought other than saying that anyone who disagrees with you is stupid and missing half a brain so I'm not sure why you are laughing.
