There will be a lot of disappointed people leaving after the first month, mark my words.
I doubt it. There are always people that leave a game after they buy them. They go from one MMO to the next. I know these people.
I think most people know what they are buying here and are very happy with what they know so far. ONce they buy this game alot of the people will probably be more happy with it after playing it.
Mark My words.
Yeah but what do think will keep them more then a few of months?
I have no idea, since they aren't directly talking about eng game content at this point. They only said that they know they will have to have end game and that is something they have been working on.
I guess the same thing will keep people playing this game that does most games. PVP, Group gameplay. Sieges, Raids of some kind.
They know they will have to have something there to keep people playing the game.
IN swg it was the PVP that kept me around for awhile, then they had the heroics they added. I did those until I got sick of it. Once the PVP started to die out and I was bored to death with heroics, nothing was able to keep me playing that game.
Hopefully Bioware has better options for endgame than SWG had.
The have confirmed RAIDs, and arena and open world PvP, which normally people count as end game, but they also spoke about a new end game never before seen (so they say) so I'm waiting to hear about that.
Theres also story, and rolling new classes, or even rolling the same class over for different outcomes. Some people seem to think that people will not reroll because story isn't important, but story = content, and this game from what we've heard so far, is extremely content heavy per-class. Think about how content itself is a timesink in regular games, and then multiply that by 8 as no personal content is repeated. (this doesn't count end game or world quests)
I know I'll be playing most of the classes. On games like WAR, or FE, or SWG, it was fun to try all the different classes because they were so different, but you had all of the same content to run through. With TOR, its brand new content every time you change classes (or sometimes, even with the same class) and I think that will be one of the biggest reasons players will keep playing.

Pretty sure that "special" end game is flash points (raids) they also mentioned space combat missions and pvp as well as rerolling. They said this in a interview and didn't hint at anything else. Unless the guy completely forgot about this "special" endgame but it seems pretty likely that's mostly it.
Seems like I'm the only one who isn't jumping up and down over this game. It looks decent, but definatly not as great as its made out to be. The classes, do not seem interesting at all, typical jedi/sith, troopers and bounty hunters. Now, everyone wants to be a jedi or sith right? There is the first problem, 90% of the population are going to be jedi or sith, meaning every other class will get neglected so badly. Another problem I have with the game is how over powered are jedi/sith going to be? To OP, and every class will definatly not be played resulting in a fail. Now if the jedi/sith are weakened to much to give other classes a chance, that won't have the Star Wars 'feel" to it at all. It needs a perfect balance but to also still feel like you're in the Star Wars universe. Seems extremely difficult to pull off, and I have strong doubts, that they will. Lastly, it just seems to me like it is a mirror of KOTOR, I understand they are different games and what not, but to me, the differences are'nt big enough to where I'd enjoy this game.
I'l let you know once I get to play it if I'm disappointed in it or not , until then I haven't got a clue.

I don't think the raids are the "special" end game. They mentioned that they will have all end game features plus "something brand new that hasn't been done in an MMO before" is the direct quote from James Ohlen. I doubt he meant raiding as they spoke about raiding as part of their classic end game. Not sure if it might just be a mix of a few end game systems or what. Then again, it could just be something simple like special flashpoints. The thing about them saying theres a brand new end game is, we haven't gotten any release information about what that is specifically, and I don't even think anyones bothered to ask.

Well this is what he said
"James Ohlen: Once you reach end of the game you'll have a lot of possibilities. You can go into Warzones, play with your friends through all the Flash Points (the high level flash points are very interesting), you can complete space missions such as space battles, which are meant for high level players. More you can focus on crafting, and become a crafter. You can prove yourself in PVP or start over with anew character."

He didn't say anything about contested areas or openworld PvP, but they also said that would be another option. I think as they haven't released the information on what this end game is, they aren't stating that its an option. Its like, when you ask them about how many planets there are, or how many races there will be, they don't tell you how many there will be, just what there is currently. I don't think they would list RAIDs, Flashpoints, PvP, etc. as their list of end game possibilities then add theres an end game thats never been done before, but then have it be something thats been done before, or even remotely mainstream such as flashpoints (which isn't just an end game activity).

I think proving yourself in PvP covers all of that since he mentioned Warzones separately. Either way I'm taking that as the games endgame content, If that's all of it which I wouldn't be surprisedif it wad then I wonn't be dissapointed if they confirm it. Swtor endgame is going to be based on:
Raids which is pretty normal thing in MMO's, but it will have probably some different things in the mix.
PvP or RvR, in the moment people are speculating that there will be PvPvE (warhammer tomb of the vulture lord style or similar). Warzones are confirmed but we don't have details yet! We don't know if they are RvR or PvP/PvPvE zones...
There will be minigames, like space combat, pazaak, swoop races and probably some others things of the SW universe. (This is not confirmed except space combat, but they will be there almost 100% sure).
From what we swtor community learned is that they are trying to make some different endgame, and they are testing it for a long time now... we don't know what it is because they don't tell us!
They also talked about crafting, how it's going to be inovative and that people who want to do that kind of gameplay can make a name out of it.
There is also speculation about a legacy system, were when you "finish" your 1st character you can make another with "bonuses". Which makes sense to me, because they have 8 different class storys and alot of people will want to see all of them, this way you can cativate players to do new alts.
We just have to wait for the details and hope they don't do bad design choices.

I remember them talking about this sort of thing in general (but no specifics).
