If we were still looking at pre-alpha screenshots, I would agree that the graphics suck, but as of right now, I'm fairly impressed by what I've seen, and I'm distinctly reminded of the KoTOR graphic novel series.

While I still maintain that you can create a game with realistic graphics without backbreaking system requirements, I appreciate the stylized approach to the Old Republic, because it's refreshing to actually see an MMORPG that doesn't, at first glance, require bleeding edge technology to run efficiently.

What i want to understand from all you people who want realaistic graphics is what is wrong with you? It is a game. NOT real. Why must all these game have to look so real to you? as far as see the graphics are good, great even. We can see facial expercetions, everything is need and clean and more imporantly in proportion to eachother. So why must you have real life graphics. here is a thought if you want a real life adventure with real life graphics grow up and have a real life adventure those are the best graphics in the world. So stop complaining and making a big downer for the rest of us.

For me, I simply like variety and variety isn't something we've seen a lot of since WoW launched.  It made perfect sense for WoW to have cartoony graphics because, for one, it ran off a modified WC3 engine and secondly, the entire theme of the series is cartoonish, but I really don't understand why games like LotRO and WAR had to adopt a more animated approach.

All in all, it would seem that if you like the World of Warcraft style of gameplay but would rather see less cartoony graphics, your choices are rather slim.  It's a toss up between EQ2, Vanguard, and the upcoming RIFT: Planes of Telara, with AION being caught somewhere in the middle of realistic and cartoony.

ok first of if you need graphics to be playing games then there is something wrong with you. a game should be judge on its gameplay and well you like to play it. Second there is no comparison with WoW and swtor simply because swtor has sharper graphics more detail and facial expression. What i honestly think is that people who judge a game based offits graphics is that they want to have something actually real. SO again i say go out side and have a real life

Maybe I'm looking at another game, but the enviorment, backgrounds, buildings and the like look awesome.

The characters could use some work, but the graphics are amazing from these pictures.

    Right.

The environments are great, some animations needs tweaking and finally heroic proportions along voodoo like Inquisitor costumes and huge, spiky or not, shoulder pads should be removed.

    Hint: look for the clown

    Wow... sorry not a shaman!

    Bit spiky

    Not so small shoulder pads

You will be jealous when you realize your master has this: http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/space-combat (check @0.25)

    AoC players will be happy...

    Or not: Vette is anorexic

    Not an elf

ignoring rest, you are excited becouse of Bioware ? rofl, fanboizm at its best ... I love Star Wars, i played most Bioware games and liked them, but even combination of both them is soomehow not enough to get me excited about SW:TOR from what I have seen so far and art style might be one of the reasons.

BioWare won Studio of the Year, and so far hasn't made a single bad game. They're good at what they do, that's enough to keep me excited. It's a hell of a lot better than being a graphics whore. 11 years after the release, Counter-Strike is still the #1 FPS in the world by far, beating out all the other games with pretty graphics and physics.  And The Force Unleashed has amazing graphics, but Knights of the Old Republic won game of the year, and is universally accepted as one of the best games ever made.

Graphics isn't everything. Gameplay is always #1.

Really? you dont understand why WAR did it? have you never seen anything warhammer before? The entire warhammer universe has that feel.

Pretty sure Bioware had nothing to do with the force unleashed, unless of course you can provide a link.  BW stated they were thinking about making a game in the Kotor universe but had not confirmed it was the force unleashed.  Course we know now which game they were planing but thats hind sight.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

No they don't. Otherwise you can be pretty sure the story would be much better.

Anyone who has actually played this game will tell you that, while you may have some issues with character models, the graphics, especially on the environments, are just stunning...there have been some very awe inspiriing moments.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

the gameplay are boring, story are just crap. the ending gave me a facepalm.

i am so happy LucasArt decided not to make FU3, and i hope the story in FU2 is not cannon

Based on Cyphers' poll in the other thread, it would seem that most people don't agree with the OP's assertion that the graphics in this game 'sux'...

BTW Draenor, I love your avatar. That's hilarious!

The game while has need of  more polish, looks pretty good so far. Let's face it not everyone has $600 bucks to drop on a top of the line video card. The game has to be played on a wide range of computer configurations. That being said I definitely think that the graphics could be a lot better, but not bad enough that I would not consider playing it.

to answer OP's question about whether people would still be hyped...

A lot would, it's a bioware title. That almost guarentees at least a solid story driven game, which will certainly break the interaction mold of NPC dialogue. I have never played a MMORPG that has come close to the involed dialogue and choices presented in single player bioware games.

Some great games like D & D online have not so great graphics but a decent investment in trying to make the game playable for the long run. I hope this is what Bioware is doing here too.

Well after playing Mass Effect 2 I wont accept any gfx worse than that.

That MMORPG would flop. You are going to find yourself playing nothing in the MMORPG genre. Unless you already are.

I am not following your post...

A Mass Effect MMO would flop? I highly disagree. It has already sold a ton of copies, not to mention DLC. Folks like me are still clamoring for more ME content to purchase. To top it off, ME2 is set to launch on PS3 next month. BW has a built in ME fanbase.

If you mean a game with ME GFX would flop....you are probably right. It would probably take some high end PCs to run, and that would eliminate a large potential audience.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

I am pretty sure he was stating the game would flop because of the need for high end graphics cards to play it.  Add to that the need for extremely good numbers on your internet connection too.  Oh and a lot of RAM.  Plus a dang good processor.  As a matter of fact, the only thing you would not need to have on the high end scale would be a monitor, but if you didn't you would loose out on all that good graphics, so you might as well add a high end monitor to the list too.

    Yea, the game would flop.

I've never understood the massive hangup some people seem to have with graphics like WoW and TOR. They're easier on hardware, and don't age nearly as quickly as more realistic styles do.
