Thats all this game is, they've reused everything from mechanics like PQ's and RvR all the way down to exact model's, skin and terrain textures, and animations. Why would anybody waste a dime on this crap, it has the same developers who got fired from EA Mythic for gods sake, are you really going to buy a game from the developers of Warhammer Online?? Look at the post-release patching of WAR, they didnt add a god damn thing worth note for over a year, and the stability of the client remains questionable at best, the same client that Rift will use.
Save your money for something better people, don't encourage this kind of blatantly lazy rehashing.

I havnt been following this game very closely but are you sure it uses the same client as WAR?
If so, lol! Another unplayable server crashing 2 fps funfest! woo!
Can we have some more exaggeration please? i don't think you overblew 'repackaging WAR' thing yet.
As for same client. Last day of beta, massive GM event. Close to 400+ players on screen and devs spawned hundred of mobs. I didn't crash except for minor lag i had solid 30 to 40 fps. This client in CB is more stable than WAR client on release. Rest everything you said is just hyperbola.
Bite Me
On its face, it feels like a WAR clone, or WoW copy, but I think there could be a much more complex and unique game there. I discuss this a bit here.
Exact? really?
Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible
The first thing I said when I first logged in was "Man, this is Warhammer all over again!" From the sounds, the environment to the way my character moved. Then I did my first rift and thought, "This is just like a public quest." I even watched a podcast and saw one of the Warhammer developers ....

Oh...it IS the same guy.
Hmm. Probably just a coincidence.
The game does have a ton of Warhammer in it imo. The world design/layout and quests are almost identical.
I don't see Rift as a carbon copy of WoW or Warhammer, does share some similarities but so far I have found it different enough, yet enough the same to enjoy it.
Warhammer and Rift do run off essentially the same game engine, so some of the elements may look similar in terms of art, animation and graphics.
FPS is a big concern in Rift. I have a very new gaming rig and the lowest I saw it go was 5 FPS in the newbie area, I was crawling.

Awesome. I liked WAR.
you're rig must suck then my wife is playing on a fricken piece of crap PC
2..0 dual core
4gigs memory
geforce 8400 (LOL told you it was a piece of crap)
and she runs the game on low and does ok a lot better than 5 fps so spare me your BS please
No BS, it's a very good rig. Please don't take offense, just stating the truth about my beta experience.

to me the game did feel like WAR and i don't think thats a bad thing, but its not going for all out RVR game either so there will be plenty of things to do besides RVR ... that was one of WARs failures. sure you can say "our game is primarily an RVR game" but you shouldn't neglect all the other elements that make MMOs popular.
WAR felt like an FPS with RPG elements, where you log in kill stuff and then log off to play your real MMORPG. Rift so far doesn't feel that way to me at all.
not taking offense just think something is wrong on your end, like i said I was actually surprised when my wifes rig could run the game and then said "holy **** it doesn't run half bad".
so buddy it something on your end.

Hmm, now that I think about it I think the PvE experience in WAR is similar to Rift in terms of enjoyment. The combat mechanics are far superior in WAR but the PvE does seem similar. The PQs in WAR are better than rifts although I never thought they were that great either. I'd like to think the PvP could be better in Rift but due to the mechanics I just don't see that happening. WAR doesn't have the best PvP but it's smoother and not as clumsy as Rift.

Is the crafting better than WARs?
No buddy, it's not. If you read any of the posts on the beta forums you would know that it's a major issue. Also, two friends of mine who also played beta had issues with FPS so it's not just me.

So, what your saying, is that any game dev that brings out a bad game can never be trusted again, and if anyone from a dev team has any input on another game, or if another game even reszembles a game that wasnt that great, the game sucks?
Yup, thats amazing loigic there, better not play anymore games, chances are the companies brought out a bad game, it has elements from a bad game, or someone who worked on one had something to do with it, so toss your pc right now.

so long and thanks for all the fish. anyone who hated war has piss poor taste imo. if you dont like the game, i can almose be assured ill like it
in the beginning maybe but they have some very talented raid and dungeon designers on their team. and I throughly enjoyed Iron Tombs in rift more than any dungeon in WAR.
hey at least someone is calling a game something other than a wow clone. They are calling it a WAR clone. This is progress people!
Sorry, but just because it runs fine for you doesnt mean it will run fine for someone else, for all you know the game doesnt work well with his specific video card, which, you know, would be teh games fault.
Really i figured mmo gamers would know this.

WAR character models were beyond hideous. The game itself was decently fun.
I'm enjoying Rift much more.
I would call it a multi-clone. It "borrowed" (almost verbatim on some things) things from WAR, WoW, and perhaps a few other MMOs. That wouldn't have been such a major issue but the problem is they didn't improve on anything they borrowed and in fact took steps backwards on most things.
Why try to copy WoW anyway, you'll just fail and look silly doing it. Designers need to grow a pair and think for themselves, WoW is the king and that's not going to change anytime soon. Perhaps one day the self-proclaimed titles of "We're Next Generation!" will actually hold water. Perhaps.

I do know this, unfortunately i have seen too many times someone coming to a forum complaining that their "awesome gaming rig" should be able to run "anything" but when it can't they blame the game when its actually something on their end.
especially on MMORPG.com where it seems all the jaded "i hate everything" cesspool come to complain about MMOs not meeting their standards. they will find any reason to bash a game.
