Games of this genre are similar to other games of this genre. It's been this way since side-scrollers. Mario spanwed Sonic and hundreds of other rip-offs. FPS games, CoD = Battlefield = MoH. Action RPGs Baldur's Gate = Diablo = Sacred and so on.
If you don't like the genre play another genre and quit crying. Don't expect someone to change the core structure of successful gaming genres because of a bunch of forum whiners. When was the last time any of you ever wrote a letter to a company, or actually invested time and effort in promoting the cause of an "underdog" game? It's like going to see every big-budget action movie, spending your hard earned money, and whining that they are all rip offs of each other - and CONTINUING to go see them when you know exactly what to expect. At some point you have to decide "Gee, maybe I don't like these movies!!"
There might be some niche' game that deviates from the norm but don't expect it to be a big-budget mainstream game. If one of those small games catches on and has massive success, then expect others like it to follow. so far, nothing has been successful in mass except the WoW model.
Get used to it. Yes. this is an "if you don't like it, quit playing" thread. Becuase judging by forums, 90% of you think the most successful MMO of all time is a steaming pile of crap... why you are wasting your time, and ours, is beyond me. I for one don't mind it, and I'll continue to support games I like based on their merit. From SWG to WoW or any of their clones. Just like I loved Diablo so I played Baldur's Gate.
Oh yeah, and I'll be playing DMO regardless of what the forum trolls tell me.
Literally, those of you in the know, the Vice President of THQ literally said in an interview when they first announced Warhammer 40k that the transition from WoW to Warhammer 40k will be seemless and no stopgaps will be had. They're literally aiming for 1million of WoW's subscriber base. If this isn't closer to a WoW copy than Alods, i don't know what is.
So, why do you still go "ZOMG i can't wait for this game!" when they release more and more horrible gameplay videos for this game?
[edit]: Just to point out, you are NOT a Warhammer 40k fan, or Warhammer in general, if you're waiting on this game because it's "Warhammer 40k". Warhammer fans are FAR more intelligent than to give money to a company that is trying to COMPLETELY destroy the IP as a whole.
Umm why not right? Conan and Warhammer fantasy were WOW clones and they have been Resounding successes…. How out of touch is this company. People want something new and fresh if all the meassage boards are any indication (and im not speaking of content)... epic fail in the THQ marketing department.

You need to do some research my friend. Warhammer came way before Warcraft, as did War 40k way before StarCraft.

What do you mean 'You people"?
It is best for the industry the MMO throne remains an dusty empty seat never to be filled.

The vocal minority are the 90% of people who post on this site and they dont represent the gaming community by a long shot.

He means the actual MMOs, not the IPs.
