I won't be there. As much as I love EQ, I'd rather play on a regular server if I were going to play, but I've just got too much going on right now to even do that.

One thing I have not seen addressed is what expansions you will have to have in order to play.   The common sense answer of course is just the original EQ initially, but I am curious if they are including some features that only came about in later expansions (ie Luclin models) and thus you need up to a certain expansion.

The game is just too old now.

I had great fun back in the day but too go and play a game that looks that old.

Playing EQ again would be like be dusting off my PS1 and playing MGS.

    Not gonna happen...

But will u dust off ur Wii and play the GC version of MGS.... Updated graphics same gameplay?

Probably not. It needs to be current. I have issues getting back into AO & DAoC also. Kinda wish they never made EQ2 and just redid EQ with eq2 graphics engine.

I'm with Rockgod on this one.  While I love the lore and setting and some mechanics of the old games like EQ, AO, DAoC, etc. Personally,  I'm too spoiled by todays' UI/controls/Graphics/music/sound  and tedious timesinks being removed.

If you have the original EQ, you can play on the progression server.  Obviously you won't be able to access new kunark content once it opens up.  Although it's not worth while spending $15 to resub to an old account that only has the original EQ, when you can purchase the latest expansion House of Thule from Amazon or D2D for just $19.99.  So for $5 more, you get all 17 of 17 expansions and still get 30 day free if you use the CD Key for a new soe account.

You can of course apply the House of Thule CD Key to an old EQ account if you like.  You won't get 30 day free doing it that way, but you will get veteran rewards for the time you have subbed to the game before.  Vet rewards are worth it if you have more than 1 year of subscription time on an old account.

Thanks for the info Mardy, it's nice to know all of the xpacs are not needed.  My EQ acount goes up to GoD so I'm just going to sub. I most likely be stopping when the content reaches PoP so the other Xpacs will not be needed.  At present i'm feeling like a little boy and Christmas as come early.  Looking forward to rolling a HE Enchanter and giving some payback to Ambassador D'Vinn.image
