A good example would be what people don't like about SWTOR, that somehow rift does better. That would be a post that isn't filler, and instead adds something.

I played pen and paper for years and still find BW games to be snore fests. It's me, probably only me and I just explained why I'm not so much interested in BW made TOR. If it turns out good I'll most definitely play this but I just won't pre-order it.

Cut sceens are an intregal part of game today

    Do you only play MMOs?

Mostly MMOs, and I play Civ V and Medieval II too :) I do not think that cut scenes are integral part of MMOs, nor is story telling. I don't mind a good story in an MMO but this should be a side kick, not the whole concept. As I said I want TOR to succeed but this game has fallen from "to buy" list to "let's wait and see" list during last 7-8 months. Was quite hyped until then. Btw, I'm not a Rift fanboi as I was pretty much indifferent until I got into betas. I've made a pre-order but that's it.

Sure but look at wrath of the lich king for WoW

People were BLOWN AWAY at the wrath gate cut scenes and the phasing and how things revolved around you for once.

That's what i think SWTOR will capitalize on. Giving people the wrath gate feel through out the entire game

What did you expect? you ranted on like a fanboy on how RIFT will be the best MMO of all. I don't know about you, but if Activision releases counterstrike with a new skin and calls it "Betablab" than does it even has the right to be called a "good" and " new" , "Innovative" ? no. The same happens with many MMO's and in this case RIFT.

I didn't think Rift was good. I thought it was incredibly boring

I was talking about SWTOR and how i only hear good things about it from beta testers

But i guess it's fan boyism if you're not elebarately sceptical about every tiny little bit of info about a game

Why should I compare these two games?

What gave you the notion in my posts answering yours that I need to justify my answers by saying one is better than the other?

    Let me help you ...

You said: Funny. You're the only "beta tester" ive seen that doesnt like SWTOR

I said: I guess you're not looking, coz I see em all over the place.

Now where do you get the notion I need to justify my response with saying Rift is better then SWTOR because of <insert argument here>?

    Oh look more filler

You know, for someone who wrote 5 responses to me, it's amazing that you've managed to say nothing

If you're not going to justify your post by showing me some negative reviews from the SWTOR beta or AT LEAST telling me what they said, than I'll just discredit your post as a piece of garbage

Untill you do that, than don't expect me to believe that you've seen them "all over the place"

I am not just making this statement wildly as hype.

I am making this statement as someone who has played every phase of the beta, and carefully and critically watched the progression of the game.

I am making this statement as someone who has sat thru the dev chats and listened carefully and asked many pointed questions.

I am making this statement as someone who has played all 4 bases classes to 30, and find each and every build I have tried equally fun and playable,

I am making this statement as someone who has spent many many hours in the pvp warfronts as well as the world instances on both factions.

I am making this statement as someone who reported over 1000 bugs and had EVERY one of them fixed in beta.

I am making this statement as someone who made first report on a bug only to have the devs bring the server down ten minutes later patch the fix for the bug and bring the servers back online within 20 minutes.

I am making this statement as a player who has spent endless hours off the main quests, roads, and story out exploring the world and finding all the amazing little things they did not have to add but did. (Hidden piles of treasure on mountain tops, complex and interactive puzzles to unlock secret rooms and quests, stand alone quests deep off the main tracks, random named monsters with unique loot drops, not to mention the best made world in any game ever. )

I am making this statement as someone who has weaved in and out of the roots of a banyan tree with PERFECT collisions on every root in a massive swamp. Most games would just make the tree, roots and all a solid object for collision, RIFT took the time and effort to make it virtually real.

I am making this statement as someone who knows RIFT took from other games, they took the BEST left the rest.

I am making this statement as someone who remembers 90% of this dev team from when they worked at Verant Interactive( creator's of Everquest ), Turbine ( creator's of Ascheron's Call ), and Blizzard ( creator's of WoW ).  The RIFT dev staff are tried and tested developers with vision and original thought. The RIFT devs are NOT part of  this new generation of tech school developers that are ruining the industry with thier lack of creativity, lack of imagination, and lack of inspiration. Many of the RIFT developers are the 1st generation of MMO developers when game developers were gamers first and foremost. This is a dev team that cares what players think and provide what players want.

I am not making this statement lightly or without careful forethought and I stand behind it,

RIFT will be the best MMO of 2011, possibly of all time

This is a very bold statement but I have to say it might be a correct one. Rift might be the mmo so many of us here at mmorpg.com have been waiting for. There are a few more great mmos on the horizon but they will have to stand tall next to Rift. I also love that the development team comes from such a great mixed background of fantastic games. I have seen a few in interviews and some of them seem "Mature" I like that. I use Mature for people who seem to be at least in their 40s or 50s like me! Don't under estimate us 50+ gamers. Some of the best raiders I have played with in WoW were in their 50s. I am the first generation of gamers and never stopped. I begged my parents in 1972 for a Magnavox Odyssey 2000 and have played just about every system since. Game companies need more older developers and artist on their staffs. Some of us older artists still make "Young" images. Take a look at my art eccoton.deviantart.com Rift has me excited about playing a new mmo again. I got my pre-order collector edition and can not wait for early entry

Did you mean me by saying "OP"?

If so, where was I ranting like a fanboy about Rift?

I think you have your wires crossed.

@Jason: you believe what you want. Maybe filler again according to you, that's your perogative.

We will see how it stands when nda is down.

OP I think your statement is a bit premature.  IMO Rift is a good, solid game. Only when we get full access to the game and see the direction the devs take the game after it's release will we know if it will be one of the greats. Also we have a few more titles hopefully releasing this year.  Before passing judgement we need to wait to see how these games fare.

DCUO released last month and if SOE keep there promises and add content on a monthly basis it could be the sleeper hit of the year. I found DCUO more refreshing than Rift, but the only reason I'm not subbed is due to SOE at the helm and their development track record on their other titles. I will sub if the promised content is added.

I also like DCUO a lot more then I thought I would. I will probably playing it for a long time. I like that I can jump in for an hour here and there and play something new and fast paced but it just not keep me in game for hours at a time. DCUO will be a nice game to play along with Rift since they are very different.

DCUO has a lot of bugs but if there is just one thing it does better than Rift, that thing would be - FUN.

    This is not a game.

2011 has far too many anticipated releases to be able to even guess that Rift will be the best of the year. I love the game and have had a comparable beta experience (and have pre-ordered already), but I don't know that it will take top honors over the next 11 months. I hope so, but it will depend on how committed Trion is to taking the game from where it is and expanding the features and content even further.
