The graphics and animations look good.

The only complaint I have is the lack of aggro and challenge. Course that can be tuned between now and launch.

It just makes the demo look really, really dull.

I want to re-emphasize that the graphics settings in this are very very low.   It looks very much better with high graphics settings.

It is what it is, beta...closed at that. I will not make any judgement until I play it post launch

Overall I know I'll be buying the game and trying it out... but I gotta say I doubt the game will hold me for long.

Well you can always go back and... eh... well no,  you can't.  The combat was always pretty piss poor in SWG, even pre-NGE.

You asked how it was better than SWG as it is NOW,  I gave you just some of the reasons, and then you try and compare it to SWG THEN.

The mixture of classes was great, sure,  but talk about monotony....  spin groups were terrible.  In the end,  SWG as you want it to be is no more, and SWG in its current form is light years behind what BioWare is putting together,  save for possibly the space combat,  which BioWare shall grow - in time.

Actually yes he can, though how he can isn't allowed to be discussed on these forums.

People are going like or dislike this game for their own reasons. I'd advise not getting into the Classic SWG vs SWTOR argument, Masked. It just undermines any rational criticism on your part. What SWTOR is or will be has "bleep" all to do with another game.

But how can I go on living if I'm not proven right about something?!  HOW?!

I don't mind the combat. I just wish we could see some enemy npc's with patrol paths set so that they don't just stand there.

How in the world could they be having bandwidth issues at the biggest media event of the year.  And why are they the only one having issues?  Something sounds fishy here folks.

I feel your pain. All I want at the end of the day is for this game to fail to even release so I can crow (apologies Bar Crow) about how I knew all along that this game was going to be vaporware. And what do I get instead? Those smug creeps at Bioware keep punching away showing clip after clip of what looks to a be a fun game in the late stages of development. Bastards the lot of them.

To me this seems like your very typical 2005 mmo with better graphics. I guess you really have to play it to see how much fun it really is.

Wish I was playing the same game as you back in 2005 then, because I think I was tied up with WoW and EQ2, and honestly, TOR isnt either of those.

People are playing other games, but that's not going to stop them from chiming in on TOR. Things are going to get much worse as the launch date gets closer and closer. Post launch, it's probably going to get so bad on these forums, that anyone with a squeamish personality will be better off steering clear of anything TOR related.

    This is nothing ;)

This won't be the opinion of a lot of posters here, but I don't mind, forum pvp is great fun, I find (some) critics and TOR bashers especially the flawed arguments they come up with often hilarious. I mean, some people scorn the way fans obsess about SWTOR, but it seems to me that people who keep getting drawn to post about a game they don't even like or intend to play are far more obsessive, hence where the hilarious comes in; this doesn't apply to solely the SWTOR forums ofc, you see that with a lot of forumsections here, (some) people posting more, and sometimes a lot more, about the games they hate/dislike than a game they might like or play.

I see the TOR forum here more as the Tarren Mill area of WoW vanilla, here's where the action happens, so I'm actually looking forward to the frantic and feverish activity that these forums will become right before launch. Great fun to be had playing around with TOR opponents and themepark haters image

But that's me, I like the mix of getting good, solid info combined with fierce and sometimes crazy discussions image

Yep, and according to over 90% that actually played SWTOR, it really is a lot of fun.

I often like to give EVE as an example, when you see gameplay of it to the casual observer it looks absolutely completely boring, but it can actually be great fun to some MMO gamers. SWTOR looks in a casual observation of its gameplay leagues more dynamic (mind you, we're talking about first glance casual observation) and visually appealing than EVE, combine that with good, fun gameplay as players seem to attest to, and it seems you have an MMO that can provide fun for many months to come.

But look at what you get back in return: jawas with rocket launchers.

90% liked it ? So I am guessing you took some sort of poll of every swtor beta tester ? I see where this is going. :)

I wish some of the bashers would stop tearing down the house because the people playing the game in the videos can't find the door. What i mean, those people playing  for a lack of a better word, suck. TOR's not the problem, the people playing it are.

I said over 90%, just taking a look at the number of demo reviews/previews/handson reports and impressions of both professional reviewers as well as regular players and convention visitors who played image The vast majority had good fun with the game, in some cases to their surprise

Yeah I saw the samething for FFXIV.  Well at least you have someone to rage at when things don't go the way you expected it would.

Am I crazy or does the map, options screen, and UI look a lot like Galaxies... Not that it is a bad thing, it just looks very similar. If i was a betting man, I'd wager that they did this on purpose to make the ol' SWGers comfortable because in my opinion they will be the harshest on this game... but it worked on me, humans like what they are comfortable with...

Oh, that doesn't bother me. In contrast to some MMO gamers who for example only love sandbox MMO's or a specific kind of MMO's, I like and enjoy a wide range of MMO's, so if one doesn't offer me enough fun anymore, there's always another MMO that does it for me image

I doubt very much that you saw the same amount of positive previews about FFXIV, maybe you weren't paying attention a lot around that time. But I did see the same thing of generally positive and enthusiastic previews with WoW, GW, and LotrO, and Rift: a lot of people who were enthusiastic and positive about those games before release, and what do you know? The majority of them actually did  have a lot of fun with those games after their launch image

It sounded like those people had a hell of a lot more fun than those who keep being unhappy and can only resort to criticizing/bashing MMO's they dislike since they still haven't found an MMO they can enjoy. From what it looked like to me image

I think it actually may be because both games are making their maps similar to what we've seen in the movies. Also remember some of the guys who worked on SWG are also working on this game.

i was actually more intrigued by TOR in the beginning. im feeling more disheartened as they release more info and show off the game more =(

i know the quality was way turned down, i know it's not polished yet....nonetheless, things looked very clunky. and conceptually, the game is simply outdated. i feel these fellas, as hard as theyre working, are a little behind the times. i think TOR would have been a decent game 4 years ago. overall it seems like another gear grinder at end game.

    will be hoping for more.

Saying that Bioware is behind the times isn't really correct. Bioware just has this one trick pony called "Companion Fest Linear Story With Pseudo Choice Elements"; they don't really know how to do anything else.

There is only one reason i keep popping in to check on TOR updates ... i am just waiting for the "same sex romance options with companions" announcement so i can have a good laugh.
