I think Mr Schreiner has broken some TOR fan's hearts. They seem to be upset about it.
I hope you're not referring to me, I was merely having fun in this thread ('Tarren Mill' forum pvp ftw!), I think the thread is great fun actually
I haven't given a thought since my original post toward the topic of this thread lol. Who cares what G4 thinks, I hate that channel always have, reminds me of a Nickelodeon.

So let’s try this again, can any TOR fan come up with an intelligent constructive criticism or is it all going to be my game is better than yours because I say so.
I guess I can bite, though I have to first state, the reason there is more to complain about with TOR is because people have a better idea of what to expect, as well as a pre-conceived notion of what a SW game should be.
See, I really don't think that's the case. I think there's a wealth of information about both games and I'm fairly certain of what to expect from both games. I've seen a lot of both games in action; over an hour of each game's gameplay. I've moved while casting in other games, and played games without a trinity. I've also played other of Bioware's games. So, I think the information is out there for someone to formulate a view of how each game will work.
I also don't think there's anything wrong with stating features you're not crazy about; we're all adults here, though, and can recognize that personal preference does not denote objective superiority or inferiority. Your sore points may very well be my pluses, and a niggling issue I can't get over might not even enter your radar.
Arguing Red vs. Blue, however, is just hilarious, and the frothy comments on this thread are giving me quite a belly laugh.
Third any focus on insta grouping, similar to WAR, wasn't a big fan of that as people didn't really work together, they just zerged objectives and that was that.
This consern is actually valid. ANET is trying some different things than WAR to stop that from happening but we can't be sure they actually work in a live game.
It is one thing when a bunch of devs are trying it out and another one when a bunch of players do it.
On the other hand is the current open world soloquests most games have even worse, now people zerg the objective and still the kills for you.
But I have the feeling that this game will be most fun when you are a bunch of grouped players from the same guild, no matter if you are playing open world, PvP or something else.

I agree. I have seen GW2 promises before and was let down then. I remember even when AOC promised this was prior to launch. G4 is guessing but until Gw2 launches and we see it either lives up to its promises or doesn't, we won't know.
I don't think G4 is guessing. Casey actually played the game last week.

I followed both AoC and WAR (both of mighty promises) before their launches, but I haven't seen the features promised actually demonstrated in-game, playable by fans, for a year prior to release the way they are in GW2. Still, it's wise to be cautious.
GW and SW have different fan bases.. they will do their own success, i think they will both be pretty successful to be honest. there is no suggestion that ToR will be this big let down.. Bioware is only letting us see what they want us to see, and that is VERY LITTLE
I don't think G4 is guessing. Casey actually played the game last week.
Well, he's not a psychic or an oracle or a prophet now, is he?
Which means that predictions and statements he makes regarding the future is still guesswork and personal speculation
The person I responded too said G4 was guessing about whether or not GW2 would live up to its promises, not whether it would beat TOR or not. Way to actually read the post. :P

I'm refering to the WOW like elements of TOR, people have been there and done that to death. As well as its' quest centric nature. GW2 is promising a new experience in this regard, I definitely can't say how it will feel playing what GW2 has changed.
Just look at the article on Massively, things are different with GW2 so much so it might turn some off at first (that's what I took from it anyway) In large part we haven't "seen" GW2 at work in this genre. Namely with no focus on trinity, and no quest centric game-play, there's alot up in the air about what it will feel like and how it will all tie together.

It takes a lot more than one TV personality to convince me that GW2 will live up to its promises. Of course I am not picking on GW2, I would say the same thing about The Secret World, TItan and others. I WANT the game to live up to its promises but I have been burnt too many times by the same promises.
Most people don't trust certain MMo companies.....I go beyond that....I do not trust promises especially ones when the dynamic word is used. I think every MMO in the last 6 years describes itself as dynamic.
I don't remember hearing any MMO other than GW2 and Rift use the words dynamic. Got any links?

Well yeah, but it at least are founded on personal knowledge, or if you prefer an educated guess.
It of course proves nothing of the future.
And there is a possibility that GW2 will have a higher number of players while TOR will still earn more money, who is the winner in that scenario?
Let's just relax and enjoy the ride, I am looking forward to trying out both games even though I am slightly partial to GW2 since I played the first game so much.

Eh, Elidien stated 'G4 is guessing' which could refer to his former sentence or to the actual statement that Casey Schreiner made regarding GW2, that it would beat SWTOR. In both cases I don't see what is so difficult to understand what I said, Casey Schreiner was making statements about a future situation, so that is still guessing unless you know the future 100% to be true

It's still guessing, just like anyone who got a hands on for multiple hours with TOR, MMO's are about the entire package not a few elements someone has spent a few hours with.

Sounds like many people are playing SWTOR simply because its Star Wars. Once you realize that it's just a skin and your simply playing what has already been done, you will be bored and quit in 6 months.
While I am also tired of elves and swords, I believe guild wars 2 has many innovative gameplay mechanics.
-Actual dynamic events (not public quests)
-World pvp
-Somewhat balanced pvp
-Story based dungeons
-Underwater combat (cant even go underwater in SWTOR)
-Skill based combat, that combines reflexes with strategy.
....What is original about SWTOR? The billion hours of cutscenses that I will spam esc to skip through?
While I think SWTOR will sell, it won't be a long term success. Bioware is smart for grabbing the Star wars name tho, if it was any other title people would just ignore it.
That being said, I will purchase SWTOR and probably regret buying it after the free month.
GW2...can you say another disappointing/overhyped MMO like AoC, Vanguard, Warhammer:
What can GW2 offer that other MMO's haven't tried? seriously...
A living breathing dynamic world, a class system that allows you to group with anyone you want with no fear of penalty (grouping with anyone you want usually happens in classless games), a personal storyline that is tailored to your character, a very large variety of content, etc.
What was I thinking? We have never had overhyped ideas before have we...

Sorry, Romanator, you lose. Better luck next time. On top of that, my statement still stands, guessing is still guessing when you make statements regarding the future, really, that should not be too hard to understand for anyone, don't you think?

Its only overhyped if it doesn't come true. Every example I gave has been proven to be in the game.

Sure, but we haven't seen a game with overhyped ideas publicly present them to all and sundry in multiple demos before. Even when APB was deceiving people into thinking its game features were fully functional, it didn't let fans play the game the way you can walk up and play GW2 at a convention.
I still find is just so silly that people WANT a game to fail.
It's not a sandbox, I want it to fail!
It's Bioware/EA, GOD I HOPE THE SUN EXPLODES SO IT FAILS SO BAD.
Really? You aren't predicting failure because that's what could objectively happen, but because you hope with every ounce of your soul, your personal tastes with become validated and maybe others will turn to that.
GW2 is going to be great. TOR is going to be great.
TOR will have more box sales/Subs. GW2 will have people playing it for free for a long time. If you gave GW1/2 a sub fee, the game would be no where near as big. And I say that as someone who loves and still enjoys playing it form time to time. The end.
anyone concerned about Number for who is better.. anyone here ever hear of the term ACTIVE PLAYERBASE. This is stuff that people get mad at blizzard for, as they count all players (by time card or other wise) with-in a certain people, if someone has not loged in to the game in (Lets say three months for a given time frame, not speaking about a true time frame this is simply as example) so for 3 months if people have not logged onto WoW they are not counted in as Active members or "subs" as some of you would call it.
SWTOR, and BW will go the same, ANET and GW2 will DO THE SAME, SURE playerbase (when counted in this way) do not equal monitary value but it will still show comparable numbers overall.
