Where did all the wondefully acidic hate, sarcasm and bitching go? Or in the immortal words of HK-47: "Shall we find something to kill to cheer ourselves up, Master?"
PLEASE keep in mind: I pre-ordered the CE for 150 Euro (215 Dollar!), after trying out the game. So I am NO hater. I am sure SWTOR will be enjoyable. Still, as adult, mature person I can differ between something I like and some I hate at the same time without being either fanboi nor hater. That said, here comes.
5. SPACE ON RAILS
I admit, space is not SO important to me, so it can wait. Still, for a Star Wars MMO to have this fugly space on rails... thats just so cheap.
4.SKIN TIGHT CLOTHING MESHES
I know maybe other people care less about this, but I always felt it looked SO damn ugly. Some of these pants, shirts and whatnot all look like painted on the skin. It has no texture, not thickness, nothing. There aren't even any folds in the clothing. The clothing looks so damn like plastic, and since I am gonna look at it a long time, it's quite a letdown.
3. NO SANDBOX ELEMENTS
Back when SWTOR was first revealed, the Bioware devs said TOR was not a theme park and not a sandbox, but something between, and from what we can see now: thats just bollocks. TOR is entirely and 100% a themepark and I haven't seen any sandbox elements whatsoever. Player cities? Full crafting? Non-linear progression? Heck I can't even decorate my starship interior. While I assume it to be a great themepark game, I really wish it would have *some* sandbox elements as addition.
2. NO ALIEN RACES PLAYABLE
This really pisses me off mightly. I know, playing the cool story it won't maybe matter so much. But it is still something I have a hard time to deal with, that all players are essentially humans. Meesa not liken thisen hisen.
1. GRAPHICS / VISUAL DETAIL
I am sorry to bitch about that again. And while I understand the idea to made a MMO playable for many people, there is also this idea of longevity. EQ2 was a very demanding MMO back then, but the upside is, that it aged very well. SWTOR however will even at launch look way behind everything that people experience as standard from single player RPGs. And you ca say "but it's a MMO" until my ears bleed, people will STILL compare it with their single player experience! While I don't think it looks altogether trash, the textures are especially bland. Too much copy-paste textures, too less detail. I can't help to feel that it does feel cheap in some ways, and a BIT more detail especially in the textures would have worked wonders. Those textures are just so 2001. From a Star Wars MMO of 2011 for a mature audience I had expected something a tad more detailled, gritty and sophisticated. I bit more pushing the boudaries and a bit less conservative and mediocre visuals. (And there is alsot the element of visual design. Some of those cities and villages we saw looked quite dead. Just a handful of people standing there doesn't feel like a big city!)
Special mention: NO SURNAMES?
It would royally suck if we just had first names. For a real RP person, I always felt a character needs a real name, with first and surname. With the exception of a few special characters like Yoda and Chewie, all mayor hero char have surnames, and thery are always referred to as such. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Skywalker, Captain Solo, Boba Fett. No one call him just Boba. It's just hilarious and bad for me as RP. So I REALLY hope they add it yet.
So, what are your Top 5?

My vote is for over done, beaten to hell and pointless threads by posters who evidently think the game will magically change prior to release.
Ya, and some of the other stuff.
You stay sassy!
5. Most recent hype magnet
4. It's Star Wars! love
3. It's Star Wars! hate
2. $150.00 Collector's Edition
1. It isn't here yet.
1. that it is not out yet
2. that there are only two factions
3. that there are less than three factions
4. that there not at least 3 factions
5. that there is not apparently territory that 3 or more factions could control
Mostly, I think that SW has the ability to have an evolving universe. You have enough species that could have different interests that would conflict, but by setting up a simple 2 faction system you cut out the ability to evolve in a balanced way. I would probably prefer a system more like EVE's corp system really, granted it could have corps be allied with sith or republic.
Also, seriously, the idea that you will either be light side or dark side seems to cut out one of the main themes in the lore, that you can be on the edge of either. I loved teetering in the grey in KOTOR for as long as possible.
"Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga
Space on rails certainly annoys me, but they might fix it at some point in the future and let me play X-wing v. Tie Fighter in an MMO.
Lack of customization of your starship also annoys me, but I'm hopeful for that, too. I know players will want to not only customize their interiors, but customize their entire starships. Heck, I think players would even like to participate in other players' starships, such that I could buy a star destroyer and have people playing crew members, but that's just me...
Extremely odd-ball alien races would be nice, but I have to admit that providing clothing changes for every one of them would be a bit prohibitive. I like STO's system, especially with the fact that I can completely create my own race, but they were all still humanoid. Kinda wish we had something like that here. I actually *like* the fact that all races are identical in terms of stats, because it's annoying to me to pick one race for RP purposes and discover it was the worst possible one for my given class.
I also wish graphics were different... I want realism, though. Looking forward to GW2 for that.
1. It's not out yet. I am looking forward to playing it, but I can wait.
2. People are judging it without actually playing. Those people can enjoy the flames they create for all I care. If you have a negative disposition towards a game, chances are you won't enjoy it.
That's all I don't like about SWTOR.
OP: If shiny graphics matter that much to you, maybe SWTOR isn't the right game for you. I'm satisfied with graphics that are comparable to other games on the market and I don't want to upgrade my computer just for one game. The last time I upgraded was not just for one game. It was for my overall computer performance in every game I was interested in playing.
Also, wait until you actually experience the gamplay elements first-hand before complaining about them.
Without playing the game to see how these mechanics actually work out, these are not things I necessarily hate about the game but things that lead me to believe the game is not for me.
1. Two faction PvP.
2. Small group-size.
3. Emphasis on instances and loot.
4. Set, Holy Trinity classes.
5. Very little meta-game. e.g mostly ground combat, with space combat being a minigame, and galactic warfare either being static, or non-existant.
6. Few playeable races. There seems to be an efficient amount, but not what I would expect from a Star Wars game.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
I preordered, so none of the below is keeping me from playing. Its more of a wish they would improve on list but it should still be fun.
1) Character textures looks to much like plastic figurines.
2) Space combat on rails.
3) Combat, specificly light sabor combat, looks stiff.
4) Not enough races to play.
5) It may be one of those mmos you play that make you ask where the 6 months went.
1. yet again another "here hold my hand ill show you the way" mmo
2. lucas arts beating a dead horse genra just to make quick buck
3. not a wow clone but alot more along the lines of a WAR clone..we all know how that panned out lol
4. over hypeing something that everone seems to see be better than sliced bread
5. see #1
Only one:
1. Its 2011 game with worse fatures than 1997 game.
1. Subscription
2. Subscription
3. Subscription
4. Subscription
5. Subscription
If it weren't for these 5 things I would definitely play!
You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???
Be afraid.....The dragons are HERE!
How funny. I won't play a game without a subscription.
For me:
1. pointblank blaster in the face combat.
2. cartoony art direction
3. linear leveling

1) Character faces/hair: I just don't like them. I like the helmets, so I'll be playing something that allows me to wear one. While the faces have gotten better, still needs work.
2) Space: Wish it was at least multiplayer, I don't even really care if it doesn't have PvP yet.
3) BioWares marketing: A lot of stuff is being announced all the time, but the thing is, not everything announced has been confirmed as implemented and somtimes these things do change. Sometimes I'm a little disappointed that they wait all this time to announce something, then confirm that its been changed later, or we find that it is announced, but its not even implemented on the test servers yet so it isn't tested and subject to change. It would almost be better to be up front with what they are planning and then let us know when changes occur.... though keep in mind, I said , *almost*.
4) Multiplayer: I wish there was MORE incentive to group for personal story aspects. While they do have benefits to having groups in the personal story, I feel they could always do more, especially since I'll be playing through most of the game with a small group of players and would prefer to not be behind anyone at all just because of play style choice. Not saying I will be necessarily, just saying 60% XP isn't bad, but wouldn't mind a bit more.
5) Ship customization: While there is some customization, I was hoping for massive aesthetic customization on launch as we don't have the option to choose the ship we want. Unfortunately, they stated no exterior aesthetic customization is possible. That sucks.
1. It is not out yet.
2. All the wow fanbois that hate on this game will be in full force playing it.
3. All the SWG fanbois hating and flaming that TOR is not SWG2 will be in full force playing it.
4. General chat is going to be full of "anal", "Chuck Norris" jokes (I find them humorous sometimes).
5. Again, look at #1.
1. Level based
2. Static Classes
3. Level based
4 and 5 are also probably. Static Classes and Level based
Level based games are very restrictive as far as playing with friends family. Not everyone can play the same amount of time and this leads to some of your best friends not being able to participate in things you may be doing.
Now it is possible that TOR has added some type of "apprentice program" to minimize this but as of now I do not recall seeing it.
KASE (Killer 80.00%, Achiever 53.33%, Socializer 40.00%, Explorer 26.67%)
UO, EQ, AC, AO, Shadowbane, DAOC, Horizons, Lineage II, FFXI, PS, SWG, EQ2, WoW, City of Villans, Tabula Rasa, PoTBS, Vanguard, GW, AoC, WAR, DF1, Aion,Champions Online, DC Universe,SWToR, GW2, PS2, DFUW beta in that order I think. (And a lot of f2p games)
You know what they say "you get what you pay for"
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
1) Another hate thread on the forums about this game
2) More excuses and reasons why it will/won't fail by people who have no idea and haven't played it
And thats all I've gone. Please for the love of god STOP with these useless threads! At least wait until you've actually had a chance to play the damn game.
What's really sad, 90% of the people complaining about the game or making hate threads will buy it anyway and play it for at least a month or two.
Here's a good one for all the haters:
Average PS3 or X360 game provides probably 15-25 of decent gameplay before you get stuck with "grinding" achievements. How many hours does an MMO provide? Lets say the quality is HALF, so it takes twice as much to get the same result.
I'd guess most new MMO's provide players with 2-3 DAYS... 72+ hours of active gameplay enjoyment before they get burnt out... and thats a VERY low estimate. SO, for the same damn price you get TONS more out of an MMO than a console game.
Nuff said?
A man or woman after my own heart. Three factions, in my opinion, are ideal for conflict to remain fluid and balanced.
For my list I only have 3 complaints so far:
3. Only 2 ranged classes able to take cover. (Makes no sense to me)
2. Less than 3 factions.
1. People who create forum accounts just to flame and troll a game they've never played.
1. It has a subscription fee. When I watched SWTOR's gameplay. I immediately thought it would be a B2P model because I saw Guild Wars 2 gameplay videos. When I was proven wrong, SWTOR won't be a game for me to pass the time till GW2 comes out, it'll be a game not worth its value. If I wanted to play a storyline game, I'll play KOTOR, DA or ME.
2. Not based on positioning. Now, I have to win by pressing the fast instead of using position and skill.
3. Two factions, I understand why there is two factions, but for the third faction, one that is not in either side and fights only for money.
4. Static combat. It is sad that they have these awesome lightsaber fights, but they are very static.
5. Holy trinity. I don't want it anywhere in MMO anymore.
how about telling them how to improve there game instead of hitting up the forms for another flame .
2 get a grip man not every one can afford super computer to play grachical pretty games i dont care ether way heck i played nintendo atari and on and i could care less.
3 well it has not even come out yet so stop with this flaming and saying top 5 things i hate about the game you never played.
4 wait till the game comes out and show you played he game and why you hate it also tell the dev of the game how to improve thats what beta is for right :P
5 ether way to show you hating the game you just spend 150 bucks on lol and you say this ant a flame post i beg to defer here its a hate because you said top 5 things i hate about ..... me i am going to enjoy it and i know it will succed with or with out you there tons of fans out there that love the game..
.....
5)All the attention SWTOR gets from Guild Wars 2 fanboi's.
4)All the hate it receives from Sandbox fanboi's who are worried that SWTOR is going to steal 15 of the last 20 people playing in their sandbox mmo.
3)All the hate it receives from SWG fanboi's who expect Bioware to make SWG 2.
2)That there is no release date yet.
1) That I'm not playing it right now.
theres a thread for top 5 things you love about this game..if i where id go there..this is to expres what you so far dont like about the game..forceing someone to accept your view is utterly selfish
5. Tunnel shooter. SOLO ONLY gameplay element in an MMO do I need to say more?
4. Static combat. I all the videos have I seen that last more then a couple of seconds look to me more boring then wow.
3. Small groups. I don't hate the trinity but I think the way to improve it not to get rid of types and make everyone the same but to add roles, like CC, debuffer and what not. Like BC and EQ had.
2. No Sandbox elements. No appearance tab. Basic crafting. Can't customize the look of your character or ship.
1. The crappy wow elements, that made me quit wow. Instance pvp? yep Token grind? yep 'Wellfare' epics? yep Daily grind quests? yep Wonder when they will talk about dungeon finder or dungeon teleporting stones.
I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.
1) They havent released monthly sub costs yet
2) The over use of companions aka YEHY Im 12 I have imaginary friends again
3) The price of the normal box is the same as most collectors editions of other games.
4) EA and Lucas may milk the ip dry of $ £
5) Star wars will take over the genre (note: not kill its competitors).
I think for me my issues are mostly on the recent changes.
1. No more killing companions. They took this out because morons, who were told if you kill them they don't come back, killed all their companions in beta then b#$@hed about it.
2. No Sur name system. Now this may not be a big deal if I can put a space in my character name, so that he is first name, space, sur name. If I can't put in radicals and spaces then we will have issues.
3. No vanity tab, not such an issue with the modification to equipment and color mapping, but I feel that this is one thing that TOR will be forced to change later. Every other mmo pretty much has accepted that players want this.
4. No non human like races. This likewise may be negated by legacy system, especially if I can swap my current race to the one I unlock without rerolling.
5. People not finding out about TOR before they complain about it. Go look stuff up before you get on your hate wagon. No shock here that some of the people posting the things they hate about TOR in this thread fall under this one.
1-5. I'll let you know after I've played the game.
I dont know, but IF you have to farm gear 24/7 to stay competitive in every level of the gameplay, and lacking alternative ways to spend time meaningfully inside the game, will be a couple of things propably dropping to the top 5, which I hope wont happen.
