Could you expand on why they make "no fucking sense" as you so elegently put it?

a trooper in SW is jedi fodder. any projectile a trooper throws or fires at a force user will be deflected effortlessly

a smuggler in SW is sith fodder. a low level sith like Darth Maul could force-snap a plain human's neck if he wanted to.

imperial agents should be sensed at all times by jedi, especially when cloaked

jedi dont heal others. sith do, according to their philosophy. so the sage just doesnt belong.

the list goes on and on.

most classes simply cant be balanced with force-users in the SW universe. this may be ok for PVE, cuz it's all about co-op anyway. but PVP in TOR will never make sense.

*facepalm* Those are general MMO mechanics that are established staples of the genre.  That's like whining how FPS games are all clones because you use guns to kill enemies.

But for anyone who's researched the game itself, they will know TOR is not a "WoW in space" game.

    My list:

    1: It's not out yet.

    |

    5: It's not out yet.

There's nothing I hate about TOR.  There are some game mechanics I prefer over others that are not being included in TOR, but I like TOR for what it is, and what it has is designed very well.  I like the whole package. *shrug*

Purchased a PreOrder, but here goes my 5 dislikes...

    1. Raiding ( Dosey-Doe meets Simon Says with a bunch of Dbl Left Foots...My Idea of digital agony)

    2. No annoying races at launch (ewoks, gungans, or jawa)

    3. It is a magnet for the themepark vs. sandbox debate due to the legacy of SWG (the only connection being LA (IP)  and the game format of MMO)

    4. It is not out yet and I am totally bored to tears.

    5. Not enough questionable Brother-Sister Kissing scenes.

Just when is this fracking game going to be released so that all of this ridiculousness will end?

Seriously.  I want to know when it's going to be released, please.

I want to be careful here.  I haven’t played SW:TOR yet and place more emphasis on overall breadth and depth of “game-play” that transcends what I have already played.

But on the surface, what I’m not thrilled about, not having played it yet is:

1: Graphics style makes it appear more like Star Wars: The Clone Wars  http://www.starwars.com/theclonewars/

    2.  World and game-play comes across as though it will be heavily instanced; Instances within instances, such as Tatoonie 1, 2, 3 and with an emphasis on single-player-esque lobby-system game-play (aka Raids or Flashpoints) which will become the same repeatable scenarios that bore most mmorpg enthusiasts.

    3. Linear story just like every other mmorpg, but there is no significance on massively-multiplayer or community-centric cohesive factional open-world game-play, but one story-line that ends up the same, though only providing dark or light-side “points”, depending on your response.

    4. Another hardcore themepark static ride, without any sandboxy elements such as player-emphasized content or economy or crafting or open-world strongholds/contested planets or territory, but where ~70% of the box purchasers bail 3-6 months post launch (as they have with most other mmorpgs over the last several years) because of the developers expectation and expectancy of grinding the same redundant and linear content ad nauseum within a lobby-system is entertaining.

    5. Limited number of classes, non-existant non-combat professions, limited character customization.

So in closing, isn’t this Star Wars also?  But no space content.  Alrighty then.

  • IsawaIsawa Member UncommonPosts: 1,051

    In no particular order.

    1. Lack of non-human appearing playable species (unless legacy system has some secret selections).

    2. Very large / disproportionate male body size characters, even though these large toons are not featured in the 3 major setting videos. I don't see the point of having toons appear overly ridiculous, for the WoW crowd maybe?

    3. You will no longer be able to kill companion characters off, I guess permanently making the game harder for people resulted in a good deal of negative feedback in beta. I was also hoping that even though you can have only 5 campions at a time, that there woud actually be more than 5 available to recruit throughout the game.

    4. Unclear of how much adventuring via exploration and discovery is going to be present in game. Know you can find holocrons but what else?

    5. Scaled planet levels. I really hope each planet contains high level content, so there will be reasons to return to each at or near end game.

  • VhalnVhaln Member Posts: 3,159

    • Graphics look bland and cartoonish.

    • Combat looks lackluster and uninspired.

    • Sounds very linear, all about getting from one level to the next.

    • Sounds like there isn't much of an endgame to level up for.

    • Space gameplay looks ridiculously tacked on, shallow, and simplistic.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

  • Drekker17Drekker17 Member Posts: 296

    1. Combat looks bad so far.

    2. I have a feeling the Jedi and sith are going to be too important and/or powerful.

    3. 2 Factions...usually something I don't care about, but I want to be a Bounty Hunter with no limits.

    That's it so far.

1: Space combat is basically a no show.

    2: Race selection is inadequate

    3: Subscription based

    4: Lack of sandbox elements

5: George Lucas stinkfinger that soils everything it touches

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

    lol this is great.

TOP 5 things you HATE about SWTOR

and on the flip side we have the GW2 version of this topic called:

Does anyone have any criticisms so far?

if you go to that thread, most people are saying stuff like, "How can you critique a game that isnt even out yet?!" or, "My only complaint is that I cant play it yet lolol"

But here its an itemized list of things people hate haha. Not even a critique just straight up hatred lol.

Hey man....I don't intend to play it (unless my friends end up doing so) and I didn't hate on it.  So not everyone is hating on it.  Not even all people that aren't going to play it are hating on it.  I had basically the same thing to say for BOTH games....I wish they were released already.  That is all.  Focus on the positive, ya know?

I think gamers take out their impatience and aggression on games sometimes.  I'm not sure how healthy that is, but at least we're not beating each other up over "my Daddy is better than YOUR Daddy," right?  Unless forums are like virtual beatings......

I love how GW2 forums roll in the following fashion "How awesome is GW2?" "Super Awesome", "I wish I could split in half so I could love it more".

The same people come to the TOR forums and speak nothing but hate. I am not interested in GW2, so I don't sit in the forums for that game, spewing endless hate about it (I have better things to do). Why do so many take so much time out of their day (over a 3 yr period) to whine about a game they profess to hate?

It is a known fact that Star Wars revolves around dealing with fear, anger, aggression, and hatred, especially with the huge amount of SIth about to be unleashed in such a game ;)

hehe ok so all the TOR haters are actually Hardcore Roleplayers that are going Sith Empire and getting into character by trolling mmorpg.com forums.... I like that reality, think I'll try it out for a while.

I ony need One, any beyond it simply do not count.

    1) The fact that the day pre-order was announced we suddenly found out that only North America and selected parts of Europe were being invited to play. Everyone who was left out (now dubbed the redzone) has no information on when they can expect to have access. This has fractured the community and soured what should have otherwise been great news.

    4. This does bug me, in 2011 is it that hard to actually put armor on a toon instead of painting them?

    3. Doesn't bug me

Surnames, I hope they have 'em. KOTOR had 'em, SWTOR should have 'em.
