    1.  No Sandbox elements

    2.  Linear questing (holding my hand to quest is something that is likely to break this game for me after one play through)

    3.  Cartoony Art Style

    4.  Space combat is not X-Wing vs T Fighter

    5.  It's taken too long to develop

I'm looking forward to playing this as my friends are excited.  However, I can't see how this will have much staying power based on my top 5.

    1) The fact that the day pre-order was announced we suddenly found out that only North America and selected parts of Europe were being invited to play. Everyone who was left out (now dubbed the redzone) has no information on when they can expect to have access. This has fractured the community and soured what should have otherwise been great news.

There's no IP blocking or credit card blocking as has been stated, so everyone can play, also outside the regions that BW will focus on initially. It's just that US and Europe (excl part of eastern Europe) will be the regions that they'll focus on at launch, since they've been talking about latency and such I guess servers will be stationed in those regions.

My biggest pet peeve with this game is the weapon restriction for bounty hunters. You have the cool gadgets, but only the choice of pistols or duel pistols. The majority of bounty hunters that I've seen in star wars used either rifles or carbines.

    1. It is not out yet.

    2. I can not play it yet.

    3. $150 Collectors Edition was sold out

    4. Trying to find a $150 CE edition online is really time consuming and STILL no results!

    5. Why isn't this out yet? :(

    1) Too themepark.

    2) Too solo.

    3) No water, swim, dive, content.

    4) No day/night.

    5) Graphics a bit outdated.

  • SiveriaSiveria Member UncommonPosts: 1,421

    1) To much of a world of warcraft clone

    2) Outdated cartoony graphics

    3) Endgame will probally be worthless like WoW etc

    4) Combat is generic and unintersting

    5) Game is way overhyped setting itself up for major dissapointment from the general community.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

These appear to be the biggest weaknesses imo:

    1. ABOVE ALL ELSE: Combat: Holy Trinity combat in Sci-Fi + guns just does not cut it with me. It's too clunky and does not feel like a shooter at all. : (

    2. 2 Factions: 3 Factions MINIMUM!!

    3. Space on Rails: Atm, a free-form space shooter as well as 3rd person avatar game would have been awesome diversity to jump in and out of, but no.

    4. / 5. - none -

    Everything else looks awesome.

      Spot on brother !

People that flame the people who ponts out the bad are mostly disaponting and they vent that in their posts.

Like me for example, i long for a next gen mmo that amaze me.

MMO after MMO lacks quality and copy paste old ideas in a new jacket and sells it as the best peanut buter jelly.

GW2 is stepping away from it and i apllaud it with a standing ovation.

It may fail, but they have the balls to do it.

Instead of building all those free mind mmo elements like Space ship combat / lots of playeble races / and damn amazing combat animations....they do it the way we see now.

Will it be a good mmo, ye i think it will, but its not worth a montly payment by any standards.

Opinions aside this game had the potantial of being a mammoth but instead they created a mouse.

What do you guys expect these days from a MMO ?

They put lots of $ in there, for useless stuff (voices for every NPC - first thing i do is shut down speech+music).

Another point is, if you invest such a huge amount of $ you have to get as much as possible back from sales+subscription, so you have to walk the "WoW" way: Adjust gameplay (decrease the difficult with every patch), remove in-game depth, choose between sandbox or theme park (where theme park quarantees you a lot of subscribers), based on lowest common denominator, which is the average WoW player.

Sandboxing and complex crafting is contraproductive for high subscriber numbers. Make it as easy as possible, put in fancy colors, add a TIER set system, add everything that counts as "endgame content" from the current MMO with the most subs, to have a good chance to get your investment back asap.

So you cant expect anything more difficult than missions like "Kill 10 wolves/boars/space rats" and repetive stuff like dungeon "ABC" on a 5/10/25 man raid 3 times a week. Cant wait for barren chat in SW:TOR.

    3.  Limited Races

    4.  Holy Trinity

    1. Not enough group gameplay from what I have seen, just another solo quest grind with a few dungeons thrown in so it can be called an MMO
    2. Housing (ships) aren't customizeable.
    3. Game is designed so everyone should be using a pet. Pets suck.
    4. Having to sit through 5 mins of dialogue before I can go kill 5 of X.
    5. Too many classes can spec too many things. More classes, less multi-speccing plz. Of course that wouldn't work because they would have to blow another million dollars on dialogue I would be wishing I could skip for each class.

Entirely too much MMO is sacrificed for dialogue .. story .. that I could probably care less about.

    EDIT
    6. Space combat is a mini-game.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

I wouldn't say I have a top 5, however, the only thing I am worried about is fun meaningful open world pvp.  I am glad they are going to have a pvp server, but they haven't said a lot about open world pvp (they mentioned pvp zones).

On the other hand if people are getting into it and just pvp'ing for the sake of hey I'm a Sith I'm going to hunt down all those who who appose the empire and vis versa then open world pvp will be fun for me.  So what I'm saying is I hope Bioware has something up their sleeve to make open world pvp lively and meaningful or the server I end up on is very active in open world pvp.

I'm not to concerned about the pve.

    1. Way too many traditional themepark elements than I would like.

    2. It's still a traditional end-game mmo. And if you're someone like me that likes to commit to one class or character, I probably won't get much out of it.

    3. It took some of the most exciting and cool combat, and shoved it into the most boring of video game combat molds(well one of the most boring, it's not turn based.)

    4. You can't switch sides. Idk , i guess I'm the ony one, but this is just ridiculous to me that you can't switch sides and can only become darker or ligter. This was on of my favorite aspects of the movies, and would have added alot to guild relations and open world pvp(but then again, considering the style of game, we'll see how prevalent that stuff is anyway.)

    5. Companions. I just don't like this feature, or any of the things that they do. Maybe in a single player game, but in an mmo? Meh.

    1) I dont like that the game offers progression raiding. even if its 8 man i think once a game offers it the entire playerbase focuses on it.

    2) I think the combat and animations are a tad stiff, similar to warhammer online.

    3) from what i've seen the game kind of looks like Kotor 3 with a Co-op online option. Why do i have to pay a sub for this? I dont with Borderlands.

    Looking forward to: Nothing

Because it's an MMORPG, that'll probably be larger in amount of content or worldsize than as good as all other themepark MMO's, larger than Rift or LotrO or Aion, possibly even larger than WoW.

If you really want to compare then I'd say it's an MMORPG with a KOTOR vibe and style of gameplay for its questing, such a comparison would show a real understanding of what it's about.

AAA themepark MMO's are usually linked to a subscription, certainly at their launch image

I already pre-order.. well because i buy everything Bioware puts out, those dudes can make games.

I just hope its more than just 60-80 hours of personal story and an online dungeon/pvp queue...

I'm kind of worried that the game wont really hold me once i finish the class storyline.

I need it to hold me until GW2 releases.

Well, I don't see that much a break from current themepark mechanics, which is questbased leveling and when you reach level cap, your options are questing, pvp (arena and open world), dungeons and crafting.

If those aren't your things, I don't think SWTOR will change that.

On the other hand, what do you really think you'll be doing in GW2 at level cap or any other MMO besides those things in one form or the other?

    1) The story driven game play will be very much like DWO which I did not care for and quit playing quite early.

    2)  Overall gameplay mechanics will borrow very heavily from standard theme park MMORPG's which I'm not really looking for these days. (ie. end game raiding, heavy solo experience, etc)

    3)  No real information about the open world PVP system, but I doubt we're going to see anything like DAOC 2  (or EVE) so I'm likely to be disappointed.

    4)  4 person group size and content designed mostly for it..  DAOC  had 8 person groups (and considered expanding to 10) and plenty of specifica classes to support them.

    5) Despite the above I'll still end up playing it just to see for myself what all the fuss is about. (but I will not pre-order!!!)
