    Have you played TOR yet?

You know I can not answer this. Or in the immortal words of Admiral Ackbar: ITS A TRAP! ^^

You can say whether or not you are in the beta and that a beta exists.

So you can say whether or not you have played the game. Also could have played at a gaming event some where.

I just wonder how you KNOW it's not something "more" if you haven't played it?

If you have played it and feel that way, then I respect your opinion and look forward to hearing the details when the NDA drops :)

Logical, but alas logic does not apply in MMORPG.com. If I would say I was in beta, people would start reporting EVERYTHING I say as "based on beta info". So I deny I am in beta and rather be called a fool by you than being banned by a mod. ;)

I felt this way too,  I've been in beta for a while, and only recently announced as such,  however, it doesn't really matter too much,  most of what we say nowadays is backed up by a lot of other information.  Sure we can't get into direct mechanics of some things,  but,  I take it as a mild inference if someone disagrees and I point to what has already been eluded to.

Its more common that the haters and complainers decrying SWTORs systems are wrong then the previous videos, interviews and posts from BioWare themselves,  though some of what BioWare has said is a little dated at this point,  but still very useful for basic reference material to actual game systems and mechanics.

    You rebel!

That's why I just put in a nice sig begging mods to just delete my posts when I go off on a tangent instead of banning me for X days lol.

Hence, why I have 0 stars but like 3000 post count

Wait are you saying that ignorance leads to bad posting?

    :)

But I thought we were SUPPOSED to do nothing but use buzz words and call each other names?

Yeah. Some good points too. Great article really. One can only hope they'll put it to heart.

My personal impressions from occasionaly lurking the Swtor forums have been pretty good. They are pretty fast on the ball with yellow dev replies when uncertainties and important questions arise and generally are polite and concise in their answers.

I really hope they can maintain somekind of level of sanity on their forums though. Will be very hard.

I got a post deleted with troll warning, because I said I wanted no fat Sith Lords. I don't have something against fat people, but... I don't want to see fat BH or fat Sith Lords or Jedi, because thats just absurd and implausible. I dunno whats trolling about that, but apparently Bioware is a bit overly sensitive here.

Please, for the love of the midichlorians, Bioware, keep your forums from devolving into the shambling cannibalistic cave dweeler that the WoW forums became.

I guess in a similar way your response is on a par..... Opinions Opinions, Bioware have consistentley delivered and unless you have some fantastic reputation I think I will side with the professionals.

If I didn't know better I would say the article is lacking for all the right reasons the author is a fail, and adds little.

You forgot how important Lucas Arts is to this as well. Bioware has to run all major ideas in front of them as well. This I fear could really slow down updates as well as anything that smacks of controversy.

I hope as well, but I doubt it will happen. I still remember the Galaxies forum wars between the jedi players and bounty hunters. Bounty hunters would figure out a template that worked and jedi would demand skills from it nerfed, which effected not only bounty hunters but also the other professions that used it. I see similiar issues here happening because you KNOW that people are going to go jedi because they think they'll be able to pawn everyone else in game just by virtue of playing jedi.

Such a shame that there are so many guild spammers in their forums : I just more or less stick to the tester feedback thread.

Lol, you do not understand my point. I don't care if you or I are fat, because you and I are no Jedi Knight and no Bounty Hunter.

It is just illogical that a BH or a Jedi is fat, because... HOW can they do their job then? Doesn't it imply to be fit, active and agile? It just makes no sense, you see.

Besides, isn't a game an idealized world? Where we are all heroes? I mean if one is fat in RL... why would he play a game and be a hero who ALSO is fat? On top, being fat is unhealthy and games should not promote unhealthy things.

Well, what I meant above was for a joke. But since your all serious, I'll meet your comment. It is up to the Business. All they want are profits, and they will add anything in there that will get them money. I'm not saying corporate greed or anything, I'm just telling it how it is. You can't make everyone happy, and the last thing you want to do is to please the majority if your all about profit. Cause you will lose all the $ the majorty will bring in. That is why male/male and female/female marriages aren't really seen. It is minority. Same thing with the ability to make fat chars, to please the majority ( not saying that is what majority wants). A game is whatever the majority wants. If they want fantas, go ahead make $, if they want pickle worlds, they will make. Also, they can promote whatever they want. That is like when they anned the show on Elmo when Katy Perry sung. It is pointless. I'll be fat if I want to be fat, I'll drink, smoke etc if i want to. I make my own decisions, not some game or tv show. And parents need to start helping there kids understnad what these are, rather than just covering there eyes to it.

I dunno Elikal, look at pro K1 fighters, wrestlers and kick boxers; some are lean and all muscle but there are overweight fighters amongst those as well.

Maybe your preferences for athletic male bodies is simply esthetical?

I for one, applaud any extra customization option as long as they are believable. I remember some Aion screenshots where you could do totally disproportionate stuff with sliders (long limbs, no necks, etc) and I don't like that either but a little big-bonedness is a great addition. Realistic diversity is what character building should be about.  It's not like the big-boned character option is Hutt-level obesity :)

The horrible Aion example which I meant:

I love these discussions of the ideal way a game the size of TOR should be in an ideal world.

Whilst the idea for the game may have started out, as most, from a posiition of nerdy glee, the bottom line is that the mounting budget of SWTOR is far too gargantuan and the dominant interests too far out of the hands of the artists/writers/game designers/creative people to have the kind of hippy-free-for-all-pow-wow chats, discussions, feed-back and innovation that is suggested. As far as Bioware (the corporate entity, as opposed to the creative people wearing the electric punishment-collars) are concerned , it HAS to succeed, if that's as a generic product that appeals to as broad an audience as possible then so be it.

All considerations for making something truly new, great and appealing to a wow-sick audience are far from their concerns, if indeed that ever was their concern to begin with. The old sickly truism of money empowering the creation of great things yet stultifying them in the process. To paraphrase the writer Charles Beaumont: 'taking a creative idea to fruition in the business world is like climbing a mountain made entirely of cow dung in order to pluck a perfect rose from the summit, only to find that once you reach the summit, you've lost your sense of smell'.

With a hopeful expectation as diminished as a steroid-abusers genitals, I for one plan to enjoy my generic slop.
