had the game abruptly crash to the desktop with no error message to go along with it explaining the reason
if it persists then adjust the sound settings.
Windows 7:
control panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio devices > right click on your playback device and chooes properties > got to advanced and set it to 24 bit. Either 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz.
I'm using 44100 and no more crashes.

Anyone else feeling like this would make for a great MMORPG?
Nah, everything that makes it great would be ruined once you put people in it.
Even if you ignored everyone so you did't have to be privy to their every thought or hear every opinion or see every argument comparing it to WoW you would then get people lining up for quest mobs, kill stealing, dancing on mailboxes, dancing in the town square, etc.

Hey, where can we find the screen captures taken in game? I'd love to show you my character, Kahvi Two Arrows(named her that because she has two arrows sticking out of her that will not go away) on her dapple grey mount.

What about a co-op game where you can invite a friend to play along with you?
Anyone else incredibly disappointed with the music? I rarely hear anything, let alone anything memorable. All the other ES games had such amazing music, this one so far does not... though I only played like 5 hours so far.
Also, as a few have mentioned, controls seem a bit console-ish which bums me out, but eh oh well. I am getting used to that.

Thanks for asking that I was just about to ask myself. Can't find it at all. including doing a search on the file name.

hmmm,
the music in this game is like the music in all the other ES games. There is some nice atmospheric stuff but if you listen carefully you will hear music from both morrowind and oblivlion. Including the main theme of course.

I think I found it. Since we have to use steam we have to use steam shortcut for screencapturing. F12 is defoult for me. You can see it in Setting of Steam>Game.
Well, the music was complosed by Jeremy Soule so no suprise that it isn't a million miles away in feel from earlier ES games. He's basically a composer from video games industry, one of the folks who can string a tune to quite a few different games. Soundtrack is the sort of thing you might hear on any Scy Fy high fantasy TV series. Lord of the RIngs movies were composed by Howard Shore. Probably too big bucks for Bethesda to get a film composer to do the job, but would have made it more memorable probably if they had put some development bucks there.
jeremy Soul is a strange composer. he can create incredibly nice peaces of music but at the same time a lot of his work for me at least felt very similar. Still overall I enjoy the soundtrack so far and I'm happe he made music for Guild Wars 2 too =P

Yeah, I was at the 48000, bumped it down to 44100, and still having the crashing. Not too worried about it though, the game saves so much that at most, I would need to do that last 5 minutes prior to the crashing to get back to where I was. Thanks for the tip though
Enjoyable game, spent most of my time (~6 hours) traveling and reading about the lore.
The books sure are worth reading, albeit they sometimes come in clusters of almost 10 (the vampire cave east of Helgen).
Anyway, I recommend it
I have like 150 books in my inventory so far. I gave them all to my partner to carry for now. She's a walking library I need 300 more gold to buy a house to store them in. I hope I can get my hands on some bookshelves.
I murdered an innocent person today.. It affected my emotions more than anything ever has. I dragged her body to the river and released her into the current. I watched her drift away..
In short, I was up until 2:30AM last night and I thought it was only 12:30 when I stopped
It's crazy how much this happens to me with this game. Not since early high school with Final Fantasy 7 and later FF9 has this happened to me so much. (It's getting late, I'll just play til i reach the next save point--save point reached, hmm let me just see what's up ahead quickly--well I can't turn the game off now, I'll lose my progress since the last save point!--repeat x6 until I fall asleep with the controller in my lap...)
I had work at 8 this morning and planned to get to bed by 11. I started playing Skyrim around 7 while in Vent with a couple others who were playing. At some point, my friend said "Didn't you say you wanted to get to bed a few hours ago?" I thought, "hours ago?" I looked at the clock. It was 3:30... gg
Every small side adventure feels like they only lasts for 20 minutes or so, but 1-2 hours usually pass IRL.
I am so into this game. It has amazing little things that you go "wow...that was awesome". Love all the levers, traps and yeah traps! LMAO! Chased a guy, right into...and well...lets just say he had a bad day. ::huge grin::
Only a few hours in, but really well executed so far. I'm liking the details and small touches, like a guard commenting to me as I walked by that he knew a good hunting spot, because I had a bow equipped, and another guard speculating on my profession based on the armour I'm wearing.
The UI could definitely use some work, though.
At one point a passerby commented that he had heard "all about your silver tongue" because I had a boost to my speech at the time. Ridiculous. I love the little touches like that.
Reminds me of City of Heroes back in 2004 when citizens would walk by saying something about your character or his latest exploits.
Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what
it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience

John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in
the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you
playing an MMORPG?"
I am so loving this game. Played 2 days straight and I only have one complaint. I don't like cheating, and the difference between what drops when you kill stuff and what you can carry is really stupid. While I realise this is a form or realism, it's frustrating when you do the intro normally and come out with almost nothing, but try it with god mode so you can carry everything that drops and you have hundreds and hundreds of gold.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Jeremy Soule composing for your video game is like having John Williams compose for your feature film. Do some research, the guy is a prodigy and fantastic at it. I LOVE this soundtrack. Easily the best soundtrack I've heard since Age of Conan.
Good to hear all the nice things going about this one. I'll be jumping into the game sometime in January after I OD on TOR.

Nope. Turn your music volume up in the options. For some odd reason they had it set really low. The music if FANTASTIC. The other ES games were boring, this one I find myself humming to the music, it's that good.

I got the game on steam and i can say that the game needs a very huge update pack for high res textures plus they need to fix that shadows.

IMO: The absolute best offline, single player, mono-avatar RPG's I have ever played to date.
