I am so loving this game. Played 2 days straight and I only have one complaint. I don't like cheating, and the difference between what drops when you kill stuff and what you can carry is really stupid. While I realise this is a form or realism, it's frustrating when you do the intro normally and come out with almost nothing, but try it with god mode so you can carry everything that drops and you have hundreds and hundreds of gold.
I love weight limits and it makes the game feel more real.

Well, the music was complosed by Jeremy Soule so no suprise that it isn't a million miles away in feel from earlier ES games. He's basically a composer from video games industry, one of the folks who can string a tune to quite a few different games. Soundtrack is the sort of thing you might hear on any Scy Fy high fantasy TV series. Lord of the RIngs movies were composed by Howard Shore. Probably too big bucks for Bethesda to get a film composer to do the job, but would have made it more memorable probably if they had put some development bucks there.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Jeremy Soule composing for your video game is like having John Williams compose for your feature film. Do some research, the guy is a prodigy and fantastic at it. I LOVE this soundtrack. Easily the best soundtrack I've heard since Age of Conan.
There are probably guys out there who have their favourite elevator music composers...that still doesn't mean the music is great or that anyone would head to iTunes to download the tracks.
Hey, where can we find the screen captures taken in game? I'd love to show you my character, Kahvi Two Arrows(named her that because she has two arrows sticking out of her that will not go away) on her dapple grey mount.
Thanks for asking that I was just about to ask myself. Can't find it at all. including doing a search on the file name.
I think I found it. Since we have to use steam we have to use steam shortcut for screencapturing. F12 is defoult for me. You can see it in Setting of Steam>Game.
Thanks that was a help.
I found it in Steam, steamapps, common, skyrim
Sovrath listening to a local bard. I love how, if there are people around, they will tather and even clap and dance a bit. I'm just being a groupie at this point:
For whatever reason the game actually looks better in game than this screen shot. but I find the same thing with LOTRO screenshots as well.
Later, this guy is going go out and solve the mystery of who is murderng women in this town. Three already!

After playing all day, the only thing that bothers me is that when I rebind a key (say to make WASD the arrow keys), all the associated things do not change to the new key.
For example. I make this change to arrow keys. When I pick a lock, I still have to use the A and D keys to twist the lock, even though my directional keys have been changed. I rebound the keys, but for whatever reason, all actions that use a given key are not together in one binding. This is also a problem with favorites, dropping items, exiting out of menus, and a few other things.
It isn't a terrible problem, and after these several hours, it doesn't really bother me much, save the dropping items. I can move my right hand to the A and D keys to pick locks. I can move my hand to hit tab to exit menus. But I cannot drop items. I just cannot. I can put them in containers, but just dropping them on the ground? Nope. Impossible. Literally impossible without using the default keybindings.
Drop item = whatever your sheath/unsheath weapon keybinding is. It's just the associated tooltips that do not change (which is a problem, but was easy enough to figure out I thought.) While browsing your inventory, it still tells you to press "R" to drop items, even though it is now whatever you changed the keybinding to instead. I rebound sheath to X to match certain MMOs I'm used to and it works fine for dropping items.
Just joined up with the thieves guild. I won't spoil anything but compared to Oblivion it feels much more like a criminal organisation. Somehow in Oblivion it felt like you were doing good deeds all the time as a thief: in Skyrim they are the bastards that they should be, not some kind of kindergarten prankster club. Much, much better.

I'm still trying to join the Dark Brotherhood. Guess I'm too much of a goody goody.

That's because in Oblvioin it really was more like Robin Hood. Truth be told it's the only time, for me, tha tI enjoyed playign a thief. I'm not really the criminal type. Though when I did play a baddie I was "REALLY" bad.
I wish these games allowed players to raise an army and take over. But it's all good.

Having a blast so far (but also one sudden lock-up too, guess I hit a bug). The scenery looks stunning and I also love the 'finish-him-off' moves. This will surely keep me busy until SW:TOR goes live.

edit: just rethought that... where they're FOUND... maybe I'm blonde. Did you look in the Steam folder?

That's awesome. I went the mage route myself, just made the very long trek to the Magic College and now I got a new set of clothes with some nice destruction magic bonuses and I'm now in a class and being sent to these nearby ruins to further my training. Immersion in this is off the charts.
masterpiece just a masterpiece. game is so immersive and i usually don't get immersed in games. I love this game I cannot wait to see what DLCs are coming (not that im anywhere near done with the game).
i mean anyone is on the fence about skyrim if you want an single player immersive open world game where exploring is the WHOLE point of the game (oh and there is also an overall main quest). this is the game for you. so indepth and just downright beautiful.
I wasn't a fan of Morrowind or Oblivion so I didn't expect much from skyrim but I have to say. It far exceeds my expectations. Vanilla Oblivion simply sucked. Skyrim doesn't need mods. It's awesome as is.
Everything sounds like Skyrim plays like a mmorpg... why should I play a Mmorpg solo?
It would make an awesome co-op game. With that said this is the first game where I really feel involved and attached to my character and the world she lives in. Everything about it seems so epic. If the designers are smart they would just run with this title, add expansions that add new lands and new adventures and new content. I'd never play another game again.
This is how an RPG adventure game should be made. No classes. Just skills to pick and choose to make our characters play the way we wish to play them. As my character is now she is - let me see...a fighter/magic-user/thief - that can do alchemy and some black smithing. How awesome is that?!
Well, I haven't had time to play. Plus still haven't decided on a race anyway. I've had problem with a possible infected PC (mine) that I've been trying to take care of. If I play too much and need to do a system restore, or the possible virus ruins system files...then I'll lose my Skyrim character/saves. But the sound/music is really good...the music did seem a bit quiet, but I'll turn it up next time I play. Not sure why its low to start with. The sound is top notch though (great ambience) and the graphics are nice. Actually first Bethesda game I haven't felt any want to mod it. I modded Oblivion/Fallout 3/Morrowind to be bigger than the actual game size :P With this, its more or less good like it is. I don't have any problems with the interface either...at most, I'll probably get graphics mods, since who doesn't like better graphics :P Other than that, it is good unmodded (for me).
What do you guys think as a stealth based, neutral character? I originally was a Nord for the first hour (since they fit with the setting), but they don't seem very stealthy. They seem more board and axe kind of race. Same with Orcs...no Orc would go around all stealth like :P
I've always played Bretons, may do so again when I go a magic path. Bretons look really nice in Skyrim. I found them the best looking in Oblivion (but Nords, Orcs and Dunmer are more epic this time round, with Khajiit and Argonians looking really good too). Being a Breton stealth role in Oblivion was fun...fun magic and got to be pretty stealthy. Was able to do both. I did the same in Morrowind too. But, dunno if I want something different or not.
Other than Bretons. I'm thinking either Bosmer (Wood Elf) or Dunmer (Dark Elf)? Dark Elves in Elder Scrolls aren't really evil...and the ones in Skyrim I believe are refugees. Plus they value loyalty and family...which seems to fit the "hero" role, despite their "bad" side.
Wood Elves might fit well. Their downside is they are canibals (or plus depending on how you look at it ;P) and only eat meat. They are fitting if one likes nature, though...but if I wanted a house or something, that again doesn't fit. But, Wood Elves besides that, fit an archer/stealth role really well.
and Khajiit to be honest (the third basic stealthy race), don't make any sense to me (at least if I follow the main story)...Khajiit I believe don't have any allies or like anyone or liked back. I never played them in any Elder Scrolls (not a big fan of playing furry races, but thats just my own preference. It is really weird (for me) to see a humanoid cat/wolf/dog/frog wielding weapons or some games, not even looking human at all, which is even weirder)...however they and Argonians did get massive improvements in aethetics. Argonians especially got massive improvements.

This is one of the best games i've ever played.
Bethesda did a great job.

My brand new bloggity blog.
I'm on my 24th hour straight right now. I can't put the controller down.
Things I've learned:
1) Don't get near the dragons mouth. It doesn't matter if you have a HUGE axe, you'll get eaten.
2) Don't turn your back on Giants. They like to get frisky and punt you across the screen.
3) Diseases blow. Constantly got something on my Khajit. It's mind blowing.
4) Arrows FTW. I cannot begin to tell you how many one shot kills have made the difference between life and death fights.
P.S. I'm playing P.C. on my flat screen with my 360 controller as the M&K made no sense.
I'm still trying to join the Dark Brotherhood. Guess I'm too much of a goody goody.
The improved combat is easily my favorite improvement over oblivion and morrowind. Just added another favorite game to my collection with this one.

Breton..but traveled to a Nord village. Bought the horse from a soldier at the stables.

I already used up one horse V_V
Rode of a steep cliff while being chased by wolves. Poor thing broke its neck and I rolled off unharmed.
Poor ol' Rupert, you shall be remembered!

LOL my first horse I left outside a dungeon. Came back and all I found was a huge pool of blood. I think something big ate him.
Anyway here is a pick of my character, Kahvi Two Arrows, and some others from a village killing a dragon! It was at night and it was fricking epic!
