Me, I changed my mind. Just trying to cancel my pre-order. It's rubbish, what a let down.
This guys sig should tell you everything you need to know.
It doesn't. Explain it to me. If you're suggesting because he wants to be a class in a game he hasn't played the beta of yet, he cancelled the pre-order of a beta he played and didn't like, no, please explain it to me. I've seen staunch defenders of Bioware and this game come out in just the past few days and say the same thing. Don't put people in a box. Maybe they're open minded and just think a game sucks. Personally, I went into Rift, DCUO, and WoW itself with low expectations, even some biased aggression. I enjoyed WoW for years and DCUO surprised me enough that I'm having fun with it weeks in.
Never EVER use MMORPG.com forums to decide if you should try a game or not....if the posters here had any say, we would all be bitter trolls with nothing to play.
OH! I never do that I always make up my own mind when it comes to anything, maybe the way I worded my OP was not really clear it was more of the bits and pieces I picked up on the whole site so that includes the main site and this forum about certain aspects of the game and I'm not the biggest Star Wars lover there is, I can take it of leave it. Because its funny how Rift seemed like the perect game the more I read about it and that turned out to be a right turd of a game I was so glad I got into the beta early, talk about mind numbingly boring, TOR is just a thrill ride with my Sith Inquisitor/Sorceror. I do have some problems with the game and that mainly the way the Sith Lords interact and the graphics but the gameplay is fantastic and immersive I personally cannot see why someone would be bored with it but thats life, horse for courses is what they say.

I gave it a go yesterday, I loved the story feel to it. What bugged me the most , was the movement and camera. It just didn't feel smooth to me , and I found myself getting very stressed at it, many times. Other then that, I love it !
But, I will not be buying this game right now. Think I'm going to wait till sometime next year and see how it works out.
I have pre-orderd the game.... I enjoy the game a lot .. the game is still in beta... and if you guys didnt try to go explore you should.. im just doing that and its amazing
Feel free to try and explore. You can't it is a locked down level based game where exploration outside the quests is impossible due to the linear construction of the game. Same as all bioshite games.
You will soon tire of trying to explore a themepark and hopefully soon realise that the whole game is on rails and is utterly pants.
Have fun enjoying the "game" till you wake up though.
I think its a shame that this thread can't stick to OP's question.
I am interested in peoples answers to why the change oppinion, positive or negative. I am personal not interersted in starwars or sci-fi, but I am interested in what you can get out of the current MMO reciepe. And how well it works.
Where the hell did that 120+ million dollars in dev cost go!?
Actually it's over 300 million and most of it went directly to mister George Lucas.
Amidoinitrite?
No it wasn't- The 300M number was pulled out of someones @ss during that EA louse incident a year ago.
So far is the official number "Eas most expensive game ever" which means 115+ M$. Guesses usually runs around 150M$.
Unless of course you have a very good source you can link to?
Lol, everyone knew the number was made up a year ago but now it turned into "fact".
Yeah I know, Loke
Just wanted to give uninformed trashing of Swtor a try for a change. All the defending I've done is much harder and exhausting work, whilst ripping on Swtor takes only half a sentence. Detractors have it much easier V_V

Never heard that one before. I'd ask what it was slang for, but I think from your post it's pretty obvious
For all non Brits.... Pants is colloquial term that means rubbish, shit, crap etc...

Never ever ever ever use other peoples reviews to make up your mind with the exception of my own reviews, I bring a highly nuanced and expert opinion to the table, with just a hint of flair for the dramatic and a sprig of embellishment for the happyness of my readers. My reviews are fair, honest , sadistic and with a sense of timeing that can only be called prophetic. I am black friday at its most primal. I feel better now. he he he
I really enjoyed TOR over beta weekend. Will be playing it for some time. To those who were not impressed and will not be playing it. I'm glad because you would just make the game world that much worse if I had to share it with you while playing.
You know it dawned on me some years ago, that you need to just enjoy life for what it is. in a 100 years all these words we have typed wont be remembered by anyone. we wont even be a memory. we will be some notch on a digital family tree that noone cares about.
So play the game write a book get out and have some sex. save a tree buy a dog. wake up and enjoy it. youth wont last forever man. all this will fade away like tears in the rain.

So true...This to shall pass...Ever read "The Secret" by Charles Bukowski? Great poem. I think you would enjoy it.
I was a critic hoping it would change my mind for the better, as i don't have anything to play this winter.
Unfortunately it didn't. I expected a cartoonish, easy on the kids and light in it's mechanics, trimmed to get a "piece of the wow-cake" supposed to be money-maker. And that's what i saw this weekend.
It changed my mind about one point though: I no longer think it's worth paying a monthly sub for, as it is mainly a typical Bioware SPRPG only with network function. Should be B2P instead.
Well, I've changed my mind from definite to not-so-much.
Bad:
Having to watch the hotbar for cooldowns keeps my eyes off the action and flashy animations.
Having said that, flashy combat animations, at first fun, get boring after the 100th time. My Jedi striker leaping into every battle becomes ludicrous.
At times things were happening so quickly, I couldn't comprehend what was going on. I suspect this is an artifical attempt to amp up the excitement.
Combat seemed to be the same tired, worn out system I've played for ever (and I don't even play WoW).
Combat balance is lacking. I'd go from easy combats (most of the time) to nearly unwinnable combats (after summoning med bot several times).
Boxed in feeling (despite BioWare's assurance that it would be more open)
Very little differentiation. I remember talking with my advanced trainer and seeing every Jedi with their droids hanging around. So I really didn't feel unique at all.
Do my choices actually have consequences? I never got the honest sense that they did.
Never felt like I had much else to do other than combat, combat, combat.
Good:
Graphics. I like the graphics and the style. Reminded me of past BioWare games which I enjoyed.
Affection system. I liked this in other BioWare games, and glad to see it was translated to the MMO.
Dark/Light side points.
Solid Star Wars feel. I knew BioWare would get this right which is what led to my initial (uniformed) enthusiasm for the game. When I looked onto Coruscant for the first time, I was like "Damn, BioWare really gets Star Wars -- Unlike SOE).
I enjoyed the voice acting.
Storyline thus far was enjoyable.
In the end, I'm just not that in to you, SWTOR. Perhaps if the game was as intense and meaningful as the opening cut scenes...but it isn't.
The beta didn't change my mind. I still reckon I'll get a couple of months out of it at least and it should be a blast to play with my gaming mates.
I'm not waiting for the mythical MMO of MMOs anymore. I'm happy playing whatever entertains me for as long as it entertains me for. As long as I get more time out an MMO than I did from Crysis, then I take it as money well spent.
After the weekend, TOR looks like it fits my bill as I hoped it would.
Couldn't see myself subbing for more than a couple of months before the beta and am of the same opinion now. The only part of the game i'd expected to be different/better than it is would be the PvP. It doesn't even live up to WAR's PvP never mind any other games.

Rift is still horrible though.

Yes, i found the graphics poor, the animations even worse, and it felt a tad too cartoony, and the UI is apalling.
That said, i had fun. So i have pre-ordered it when i never planned on playing this game.
Same here, I half knew that it was going to be an EQ clone but I did not think it would be that shite.
Serioulsy what a waste of time.

The problem?None. I did not bother to write again what've you've already said so i quoted you therefore i feel the same as you. What's your problem?

Not sure where it came from - it is used in Britain.
I am glad you got a kick from it

Loved the storyline&storybased advancement
Hated the clunkyness and the boring combat related gameplay.
will probably buy to follow the storyline once it drops in price, not paying 50+ euro for a subscription based game.
Rawr.
Problem?...All he did was agree with you

What a let down..
