its times like this i wish i wasent "western". it astounds me how narrow minded this country can be at time. someone in this thread said the ground looks bad but thinks the world looks nice over all. then the guy that says he wants "fun" in his mmos but cant list a game outside of one that hasent even came out yet. oh and by the way. if you think GW2 isent goin to be shuffleing you off your your new quest hub your saddly mistaken. everyone here that is posting up bad things to say about this game are just falling back to the "asian grinding" argument or "art style looks like 12 year old and white skinned elves" blah blah blah. if the games not for you please move along to your SWTOR forum or your GW2 forum or your RIFT/WOW forums. im sure youll be happier there.

I had fun in Age of Conan (combat system) while it lasted...Having lots of fun in Battlefield 3 atm and will have a lot more fun in SWToR (story). You might say....wait I think those games are terrible...if they are for you go build more farms. Which off cource I doub't you have done yet since you haven't even played this game your self.

And the most important, it's not another generic wow clone with nothing but quests, instanced raids and instanced battlegrounds at endgame.
This is the biggest thing for me, if I never see another wow wannabe, like rift or swtor again it will be too soon. I like a relativly good themepark like an FFXI style but this over simplifyed model has gone way to far and way to long. I dont see myself as a real big PvP'er but with the other options out there, Id much rather get ganked 10,000 times before i go kill 10 rats or gather 15 boar hides. God dont get me started on instanced raiding........ I could rant on that one until i maxed the characters allowed for one post.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore) Now Playing: N/A Worst MMO: FFXIV Favorite MMO: FFXI
Name 1 MMO where you can build houses, towns, castles, ships, farms & non carebear PVP for territorial control.
I'll wait.
And the most important, it's not another generic wow clone with nothing but quests, instanced raids and instanced battlegrounds at endgame.
How much does that really matter when the combat engine performance is terrible? That sounds like a fine game if you put the right game engine around it, but from what I just watched, this is not it.
It matters a lot because this game offers far more than combat. Newcomers to the mmo scene are really at a disadvantage here. They can't think past combat and fail to see a bigger picture than their win/loss ratio.
I'm a MUDD player, so it has absolutely nothing to do with being a "newcomer". It has everything to do with the combat engine being a hunk of crap. The fact that your acting the apologist just confirms that.
If you want to build a game based things other than combat, then have at it. But don't include "Non carebear PvP for territorial control, instanced raids, and battlegrounds" in the list of features. You need a good combat system for that, this game doesn't have one. And from what I just saw, combat is part and parcel in this game.

Farmville....LOL, sorry I just had to....
Didn't realise Farmville was a MMO, sorry I just had to as well :P
Also didn't know farmville let you built houses as well, maybe you meant CivWorld?
People keep saying this game is going to be like Aion, but how? The thing that made Aion different was giving it wings, but I see none in this game (thank god)
Good that you mention Farmville, you can think this game a partial city building MMO, players contribute together to shape the look of the world, you can physically change a lot of things, and yes, your spells leave craters in the terrain, your spells can actually destroy bridges.
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.
I am just warning people who are all hyped up for something that they haven't played yet, it was like that with all the popular MMO's though. I am pretty sure this game has something to offer, but the fact that it is an MMO developed in Korea and their previous MMOs I can tell you this might come out as a dissapointment to most of the people who are hyping this.
If I were to give an advice, it would be to not look at anything related to this game until you're either accepted for closed beta or the game is about to launch. You'll save your self a lot of nerves finding out that most of the promised content is actualy not there and you can't create as much as they promise you can.
This game sure sounds promising for people who enjoy RTS and RPG mix of things in an MMO environment.
Don't know what farmville is my self but by the sound of it you'll be building farms lol

You know? when we talk about ¨western¨ market is not just USA, is Europe, NA, LatinAmerica, CentralAmerica and more. And tbh we wont see this game in the west.

The biggest issue here is last i read and i feel bad for sandbox fans in us and eu and all they had no plans to bring this game to the west or westernize it.
So i hope u dont mind playing a game in its native langauge
Europeans and Latinos don't really associate themselves with Americans, just sayin.
neather does anyone else in the world for that matter. the western gamer with there ideals and there influance on todays MMORPGs should be ashamed of them selves. western MMOs are the FAST FOOD of the industry. the ones pumping out this filth are gettting rich while the meek are force fed quest hub after quest hub. subpar crafting, numming pvp and the same super sized instance to run over and over till the the next "Chain MMO" comes out. hmm perhaps that could be the new term we use to refer to the same old same old MMO. just like McDonalds or KFC or even Walmart. quick and easy convinance for your busy, busy day.

hmm thats interesting. last you heard? where did you hear this? read it somewhere? mind posting the link to the site that gave such info. last i heard this game was designed with a "western feel" for the western market. called it a SANDPARK game. but if you have info that we dont i would love to see it.

The art style maybe in some cases is not my thing , but I think a lot of the enviroments look wonderful.
And you can go WIND GLIDING !!!! , how awesome is it that you can jump off a cliff, and glide through the air, haha
Anyways maybe this game is not for all carebear NA, but they are trying out some new things as far as PVP and Crafting goes, and probably trying new things in other areas, just not informed enough on the game.
Be hard to convince some of my friends to play this game I think, but I know I would like to try it, just have to get in a good guild to ensure a person doesnt get frustrated by getting PvP'ed 24/7

I don't know much about the game, but from the videos I've seen, I probably won't be playing it. The art style reminds me of every F2P game I've ever played.
I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm just saying the artstyle is generic and unappealing.
then you need to list the F2Ps youve been playin that look like AA. because AA is gorgous! if theres a f2p out there that looks just like AA i want to know about it. oh and screen shots or it didnt happen and if you think the art style is generic and unappealing then what mmos out there would you say are better then AA. now think about this long and hard lol.
Just becauase the game may look pretty, doesn't mean it has an interesting artstyle. Arche Age has that generic Asian F2P MMO look, even if it has stellar animations and a good draw distance, the artstyle is so uncreative. In my opinion MMOs like SWTOR, Dungeonrunners, WAR, WoW, Darkfall, EVE, and EQ2 all have what I would call creative and unique artstyles.

lol, seriously? creative? unique for sure, ugly, maybe. but .. creative? Why is cartoonish graphics more.. unique (?!) than Archage, which uses one of best engines available, and looks so dam real? If you failed to include wow or tor in your list, it would be fine, some of games you mentioned have interesting art styles. Im not realy a fan of cartoonish style, but dungeonrunners at least never tried to impose itself as something serious, and thats why its style fitted it perfectly.
And yes, it does look pretty. it also looks real. your famous tor, doesnt look either pretty or real. In fact i cant stand its graphics, and its not even korean. But im still gonna play it because the game itself is interesting.
ps: I hate all these western companies using cartoonish style, its so uncreative.
