We will officially enter Closed Beta Testing this Friday. It will be marked with an increase in our pool of testers. To clarify, this phase of testing is still under NDA and is not open to the public.
Based on the feedback we get from our current Closed Beta Testing, we will determine the next phases of our beta program in which we will open beta access to more people.

Very nice. Looks like he's having a difficult time keeping up with, or is just ignoring, most questions. At least we got that though.
Wait... why is this not on their blog?
I smell a decidedly obvious bout of trolling of GW2 fans. I wouldn't hold out hope for closed beta beginning soon if I were you, at least not until we get something from the blog.
That link above is a Q&A with a dev, the quote I gave was a direct quote from that dev, what more do you need?
A DNA swab... and a notorized letter...
So we are one more step near to the begin :-)
Sounds like a sad attempt to steal thunder from the SWTOR launch, just as it was with the release of the final class. A failed attempt, actually.
Intellect from the people I'm talking to?
Think about it. I could create an account named ArenaNetTeam anywhere, just as I could claim to be Jon Peters or anyone. It should be obvious to anyone that information isn't official unless it is linked to a verifiable source.
You'd make a bad Wikipedia Editor.
This is an unverifiable source, and until I see someone from ArenaNet claim that this is them, I see no reason to believe why this isn't just some random person on the Internet having fun. Because that's the nature of the Internet, and these are the sorts of things that happen. Anyone can claim to be anyone. You could post on another site using my name, but it wouldn't necessarily be me, if you get my drift.
Now please understand here that I'm not accusing you of trolling, which I think you might have taken to heart, but rather I expect you to realise that the person you're quoting may be someone trolling you.

And frankly, I'm at a loss for words at the people who're actually buying that this is real. We've had successful trolls who've pretended to be people for months, before. This is a known thing on the Internet. How quickly people forget.
Because one games development is directly related to another?
I agree. the site may be legit but the article could be bogus.
Wake me when it is on the official site.
The fact that this Q&A session was announced over GW2s twitter doesn't factor in at all? It's a scheduled event by ArenaNet.
C'mon chaser, some scepticism is fine, but you're a bit paranoid here.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, oh man you blatantly biased illogical fanbois crack me up. let's forget the fact we knew that the Beta for GW2 would start at the end of the year loooong before SWTOR's release date was anounced, nor the fact we knew the same about the profession update. But no it was to steal SWTOR's thunder.
Man that was good chuckle.
Above is the link or arena.net/blog , I should think OP is legit.
Yep, Massively posted the news too
P.S.: Where can we register for beta?

Closed beta this friday. Legit.
This actually looks genuine to me, if these guys are posers they're really very good at it.

Whatever. Keep dreaming.
Between you and me, and you have to promise not to tell anyone...
They really don't give a crap what SWTOR is doing. They're not in direct competition.
Oderint, dum metuant.
As expected !
+1 for toying with SWTOR , LOL
Hehe. Who the hell is invited ?
Anyway...
Didnt they tell the game will launch real soon after the beta begins ?
Lol
I believe they've said it will launch soon after open beta begins, but that it'll all depend on how long closed beta takes.
Personally, I think with their iterative process, their start of closed beta is probably much further along when it comes to polish than a typical beta. But they're also perfectionists. So I wouldn't be surprised by either a short or long beta.

Nice, I usually get lucky enough to get picked pretty early on, hope that happens this time around as well , can't wait.

I see people here already started the fight SWTOR v GW2.
I will play both, since I find it affordable.
As someone else mentioned, they are not in direct competition, there will be only 2 giant sub MMO's in the near future, WoW and SWTOR.
GW2 is a different story
