What was the point of the pre-order if this is the case.

blythegablythega Member UncommonPosts: 174

I originally preordered this game based on the believe I was getting early access starting on the 15th December. Then a new communications is released indicating a 13th release with waves of invites.

If I read the EA correctly I was of the impression that they moved the EA back from the 15th to the 13th and decided to do waves of invites based on first come first served. However, I also understood these waves were only to occur up until the 15th then everyone else gets into the EA for the original 5 day period they announced. (I thought we still got a full 5 days for pre-ordering).

Is this not the case? i.e. the waves will continue right through the whole EA period now?

If this is true then  what was the point of the early access if some people don't get the full original 5 days announced and promised for my pre-order?

This has got to be one of the most confusing communications from a company I have ever witnessed.

    It has always said

    UP TO 5 days.

doesnt say get your 5 days here.

altho i initially tought the same, after rereading i got the mesage still pre-ordered tho.

    its good to avoid launch

What gets me is that I'm in a guild that others are playing and yet I have no access because my preorder date is 1 Dec (Sorry Bioware I'm active duty Army).  So I'm going to assume that the majority of my guild will be level 20 or higher by the time I get my access.

All guilded players should have sameday access.

Yes this is my issue .. I have guild members that already have access. It would have made sense to let ALL of the same guild members who preorderd access at the same time.

well i kinda agree with the first come first serve thing.

I diddnt understand the whole guild thing anyway. Sounded bloody awfull to me. and turns out it is:P

Those threads really make me doubt humanity. I do wonder if people actually bother to read and at least try to understand stuff before they sign it or if (as it seems to be the case here) stick to wishful thinking/reading.

You said you "understood" it that way. You understood wrong. As simple as that really. You ask what the point is? You still get x days in before release so THAT's the point of Early Access.

They do if they all bought their pre-orders on the same day..... Dec 1st was way too late.

    Read Active Duty Army :)

    Edit:

Also what was the point of locking in a guild that fit my "play style" if the date of preorder will determine if I even stick with that guild based off of a pre-order date and the guild advancement?

Yeah, but you could still have preordered 6 months ago unless you been spending the last 6 months in a war zone with no net at all and no friends that could preorder for you.

The best way however to get the guild start same day would be to decide to star when everybody has the game working, it is somewhat frustrating for the guys getting it first but still something most friends would do for eachother.

Mostly was to reserve the guild name and to make it easier for the guild to find together. The server the guild is based on is flagged for the members of the guild. The already created guilds also don't have to pay the little fee for creating the guild and in general save themselves the hassle of inviting the already joined members.

There also was the feature to chain allied guilds together to make sure they end up on the same server but it was claimed that it didn't work in the end. Not sure if that is true.

It was meant to give BW an idea of how many guilds were active going into the game.  It gave them the opportunity to balance guild participation across servers.  It also supposedly allowed for allied guilds and adversary guilds to be placed on the same server at launch.  Not sure how well all of that worked out, as I haven't gotten access yet.

It also allowed guilds to have an official recruiting mechanism on the forums prior to launch, and allows for people to auto-join their guild when they create their first toon.  That should cut down on guild maintenance and allow for people to be in a guild with their friends even if the officers still don't have access yet.

So ypur Army duty did not make it possible for you to preorder the game within the last 6 month before december 1th yet it would not have caused you any trouble to lvl the same speed as your guild if you could have joined at the same day?

Btw i never in all my years of online gaming was in a guild where everybody was lvling in the same speed so it really never mattered if someone played a day a week or a couple months longer than i did yet many ppls keep bringing this problem up as if these few days would be the only reason why not everyone can lvl as much/fast as the rest of the guild.....really only sounds like a lame excuse to find a reason to whine that someone was able to play earlyer to be honest

You were never promosed 5 days.  You were promised up to 5 days dependent on when you pre-ordered.  This was stated the first day pre-orders were announced.  When did you pre-order?

Edit:  Originally it didn't let me post outside of the quote box, so I edited to fix that.

    Your worrying too much.

The AD in question was running in Dec, therefore Bioware have plans in place to get everyone in by the 15th.

How do I know this? You cant make an AD that says *upto 5 days* when there is no possibility OF 5 days. Therefore Bioware will be trying to get everyone in by the 15th.

This is a "good faith" promise though. They dont actually promise that you WILL get in for 5 days, just that they will do thier best to see that you do. An example I've used before is the postal service. You order something and they say it will be there in 3 days. Sometimes it gets there in 2, sometimes in 4 ... as long as they made best efforts to get it to you in 3 days is all thats required.

Bioware obviously have a plan for the 15th, like I say you cant say *upto* and not include the 5th day.

People spouting crap about *If you ordered in dec you wont get in till the 19th* are clueless and not reading the AD correctly. They will argue that *X person got in so Bioware made good* which is total rubbish. The AD ran in Dec, therefore they will be trying to get people who ordered on THAT date in 5 days early .... Using people who did'ent order in Dec (while the AD was current) as an example of Bioware holding up thier end is total crap.

As a side note, Bioware opened 40+ new servers tonight ... So we'll see tomorrow. As I say my money is on everyone getting in tomorrow or failing that, an apology from bioware that thier roll out did'ent go as planned (Hence they made thier best effort and the AD is still fine) and some people will be a day or so late.

Ignore the people who try to tell you that you fail at English because it says *upto* they are the ones failing since they are not taking into account the AD ran in Dec and *upto* includes 5 ... I feel sorry for American Kids .. your school system is fail.

Neither does the date you pre-order.  Somehow you seem that a preorder in October is more important than a preorder in Dec.

It makes sense because this is what they told us would happen from the beginning.  I would agree if they had never announced this and then "sprang" it on us at the last minute, but they didn't.  If people didn't like this way of doing it, then it is always best to vote with the wallet.

Yes, it does.  By preordering early, you were demonstrating your commitment to the game and to the publisher.  Those who preordered early are being rewarded for their commitment by being allowed access to the game before everybody else.

"Loyalty Rewards" are not a new concept.

Yes because the player in october showed intrest earlier in the game then the player in december. thus desrving imo earlyer acces.

Now what they could have done was inviting randomly. but that would have made ven more people angry. Its your own fault that you couldnt prorder earlyer. Same goes for me i should have pr-ordered in july but i diddnt i was uncertain. now im biting the bullet for it.

and since when is an MMO guild orientated? because it has the option for it? as far as i can see i can randomly que up for warzones and i dont need a guild to do flashpoints. so where did this guild of you come in?

I will join a guild tho by finding people who i like during my leveling experience and joining them afterwards... like in any MMO before

Yes being able to "pay earlier" means more intrest.

As for your "no guild in a MMO needed comment" ........................................um ok.

Like I said it IS MY OPINION that more "weight" should have been given to guilded accounts than the solo players with 1 person in the guild that pre ordered in Oct.

    Once again MY OPINION.

Using your example I have Beta tape of the original Starwars how's that for intrest?
