People need to do things for themselves and stop relying on other people/organizations to do it for them.  It's called growing up.

Opposing to the having to poach the site to see if you actually can add a subscription plan, a simple mention when you register a sub=plan clearly stating billing will start at X would have taken care of that... And warned.. a mention somewhere on their forums isnt a warning. They did handle this poorly.

Umm they has been saying on the website, on the launcher, and on Twitter for the past 2 days that after maintenece you would have to sub... so because lack of your perception you are complaining?

How about not taking the website down during the game maintainance?  How about stating in the launcher that when the game came back up, you would need a subscription to continue?  Maybe even advising players to do so while the game was down, to avoid delays?

So yeah, now they've got a million people trying to subscribe at once, and that could easily have been avoided with a little foresight.

On every MMO I have played and since the dawn of time you ALWAYS had to setup payment to get your 30days free. I even remember UO trials needing a credit card.

You wrongly guessed that they would have the appropriate systems to allow you to do that.  Instead they are unable to do what Amazon, Blizzard, and many other online companies can do.  Have a server system that can handle their customer base logging in.  They should have suspected that cutting it off in the middle of the night during a maintinance would lead to a rush at the end for many to subscribe.  Instead the fanbois come out and say you should this or that, but frankly many would expect a company to be able to handle the traffic and be prepared.  Rule one of sales the customer is always right.  When you fail that you get crapped on by the PR is produces.  If everyone wanted to subscribe this morning because they cut everyone off last night they better be ready for it.  If not they let even more complaints fill the web ways, pod casts, and word of mouth because that is what they are inviting.

You should read what is written. Its rediculas to have to poach a site just in order to pick a subscription plan.

SO again.. They handled it very poorly. But thank you for the confirmation on that.

WoW forums used to go down while the game was being "maintained" until they swapped over to Battle.net as the login portal, iirc.

WoW website couldn't handle the traffic at their release, either.

Poor excuse.  Wow did not expect the numbers they got.  Bioware did.

I also was an idiot and didn't sign up for a subscription yet.  I put in my game code, but forgot about the subscription part.  It's my own damned fault and no one else's, but I am still glad someone made this thread so I know I'm not the only one having trouble getting to the sub site.

(it isn't slow for me - it isn't working at all.  just hangs for a long ass time, only to give me a page not found error.  and then when i try again, it logs me out, because it took so long.)

They did tell earlier with the launcher before maintenance that you would need this.

If you are gonna fucking weep like a childe then do so for a legit reason.

I know this as I was trying to sub before maint AFTER reading on the launcher that I would need this and they subsequenlty wouldn't accept my CC and I ordered time-cards from the US to Japan that wouldn't arrive until Jan 6 and so I had to get a Brit mate  to rush out and buy me a timecard in the UK and email the code.

    We were warned.

    Regards

I read plenty.  Always read what the launcher says.  I just don't follow their crazy forums, and I don't do Twitter.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

When I added the game code the subscription button wasnt even there, later it was, just was non-functional.

I decided to get the regular digital edition last minute a few hours ago and return my unopened CE thats coming via Fed Ex later today.  I'm stuck at the registration key window just like everyone else that decided to sub last minute.  I'm sure that the server is being overwhelmed atm with last minute subs.....

Heh, I wonder how many are trying to log in to turnon their subscription...must be a whole lot.  Kudos to BioWare

  • OpapanaxOpapanax Member Posts: 973

I'm sorry folks but there's two simple thiings here that need to be realized..

Yes they gave out early warning of having to subscribe again on the 22nd. They told us well ahead of time so that we could make sure to have our funds in order to do. All well and good, no surprises when I can't log into the game because of this..

    HOWEVER..

When you tell people they have to go some where else to get back in game it be best to make sure that the system actually works and is not total crap like this system implemented right now..

I'm not biching about the fact that I have to do this before getting my 30 days.. I'm used to that one.. I'm not mad that I can't play till I do so.. Okay makes sense..

But FFS can you at least make sure the system WORKS.. like works man.. So people can actually do what you are saying they must.. Their forum servers are just shit.. and a big pile of it at that..

Sitting here clicking on your little box and then watchin the internet cirlce just spin into oblivion is not fun.. and definately should not be the thing hanging up your subscriptions..

The game may be broken, but I think you'd want the part that makes you the actual cash after intial purchase would be in order when needed..

WTF BIOWARE/EA Forums.. Change your format NOW.. Put them on seperate servers and don't take forums down on maintaince.. It makes people think you guys are afraid to hear what goes on in the bumps of the night..

PM before you report at least or you could just block.

The problem is tho you coldve subbed before the mainteence and you chose not to so the site is  getting 1.5 million people trying to sub at once and you wondering why there is a problem???? There is no excuse to complain because you waited till the last minute like alot of people.

  • AusareAusare Member Posts: 850

Better way to handle it would have been to understand human behavior.  Put a window that opens up that says subscribe now that people have to close to play before the hard stop.  Know in advance that 80% of people will wait till the day of to do something.  Have the infra-structure to handle the numbers that you know you will have.  Open up extra hardware to handle the rush that will happen over the next two days.  Know trying to play the "blame the customer" game always ends up with the company looking like crap.
