All the brainaics waited till today to subscribe and now complain about the waiting room.
Fracking hilarious! Lemme guess, you did'nt see it coming... I mean I did... but I am some sort of mutant with the ability to see into the future...
... or maybe just a normal dude with common sense.... what does that make these guys?
I had subbed did it months ago so I forgot that my cc got lost and I needed to update it. I even went last night after servers were down to make sure everything was set up but the website was down so I couldn't do anything, I called customer service and there answer was someone will call you back we can't help you at all have a nice day wtf is the point of customer service at that point!!!
What to tell you? Other than you did not subcribe months ago, the option was not avaliable until a few days ago.
I put my info in as soon as I could, it's not EA/Bio's fault you lost ot forgot to update your info. You are dealing with thousands of folks with simillar stories, I forgot, I did not know, etc etc... but all at the same time... it's pretty logical why this is happening.
The option to pre register a credit card and select your subscription type was available in the account info and bioware sent an e-mail out suggesting that people do it when the website is not down I can even send you a screen shot with the picture of two credit cards. So yes the option was their months ago and I used it. I am just pissed off that Customer Service can't do anything if they can't fix issues then why have them. I don't care about the website issue I just want to have a number that I can call if it's borked!
How I would of done it? I would of done it at the end of the 30 days free which is payed for when buying SWTOR, by then many players would of resubed before the end of the 30 days and would of been less volume of people setting up subs by the end of the 30 free days
Every mmo requires a payment subscription, it's industry standard.
The only poor handling here is users being entitled and lacking foresight. Thousands are playing rigtht now becasue they did not wait and ddos the account site.
Hey - look at that! I finally got through to the redemption page and this time it let me redeem my code without telling me my code had already been redeemed! I wonder why it wouldn't let me do that last week?
Oh well. On to the subscription page!
"You have 29 days of play time remaining. You must sign up for a recurring subscription plan or redeem a Game Time Code before you can play. If you sign up for a recurring subscription, you will be billed automatically at the end of your current remaining play time."
What a bunch of silliness that is, though! Clearly they are hoping people who don't like the game much will forget they auto-subbed thereby forgetting to cancel. Evidently they think people will just suck it up and pay for the second month rather than deal with trying to get a refund?
I just called customer service to update my credit card info I had cancelled mine and forgot that I did, they told me someone would call me back wtf!!! This service is garbage!!!
Even customer service reps cant get access to the system to sort thhis out.
What hope for the rest of us.
What time is it in USA atm ?
They tookl it down to fix it..
It is between 9am(east coast)..and 6am(west coast) atm in US
I used to take the plug out of things i was trying to "fix".
Next I would get out my screwdriver and open up the case to peak inside.
I didn't have clue what I was doping but at least it felt like i tried !
Taking down the site is the easiest part, but not quite as easy as telling us all on Twitter that they are "aware" of the problem.
I suspose you are right, but as I look at it, the login page being down, as they have tweeted, would explain not being able to log in, and to claim that you looking into a dark case is roughly what they are doing is just silly.
I'm just glad I get all my latest gaming news from here. I was a bit worried why I can't enter the game and the SWTOR's -website is just utter bullsh*t that can't handle a slightest stress without going into that "waiting room" coma.
So I need an active sub, huh? Thanks fellow gamers and mmorpg.com.

What is this new business model?.....hmmmm..seems like a sure fire win...
We should get this info out to other companies..like lets say satalite TV providers...maybe cell phone providers....I bet 1 of those industries could figure out how to do several years of contracting....
How about not taking the website down during the game maintainance? How about stating in the launcher that when the game came back up, you would need a subscription to continue? Maybe even advising players to do so while the game was down, to avoid delays?
So yeah, now they've got a million people trying to subscribe at once, and that could easily have been avoided with a little foresight.
Umm they has been saying on the website, on the launcher, and on Twitter for the past 2 days that after maintenece you would have to sub... so because lack of your perception you are complaining?
Umm how about some of us are not total nerds and don't read any of that crap. Why not spam in-game system messages to go activate your accounts? This is bullshit.
So true only total nerds would read up on the Important informations that show up in the launcher everytime you start the game no normal beeing would ever read important informations they would only waste time precious time better spend in a game....hmm but wait now ppls cant spend there time in a game couse they ignored the Important messages....well damn the total nerds....
Btw they even did send out emails informing you but guess only total nerds would read there Emails.....
I do not feel sry for any of you you all could have done the account setup before today you prolly didnt want to do it because you thought you could get 2 more free days out of it you wanted to cheat Bioware plain and simple and now you pay the prize.

Hi there, welcome to the real world, this must be your first rodeo.
This is an industry standard that reaches beyond just mmo games. Just thought you should know so when you post you actually know what you are takling about.
Thanks for sharing, feel free to argue with examples of other MMO's that give you 30 days sans subscripting via CC.
Welp, I finally got in and got my info in, only took about an hour, a time during which I just read this forum for a bit. I'm happy now and even happier because after I finally got verified and sent back to my account screen, the option to upgrade to the digital CE edition, with all those ingame goodies was there and it was only $20. That made me happy so I upgraded.
Off to play, see you in that galaxy far, far away.
Hey - look at that! I finally got through to the redemption page and this time it let me redeem my code without telling me my code had already been redeemed! I wonder why it wouldn't let me do that last week?

It is a little different, though, since I'm not required to pay up front or sign up for a long term contract to play - unlike a cell phone or cable contract. In this case I can cancel after my month is up so it seems to me that all EA is doing is guaranteeing themselves a lot of wasted time, money, and manpower handeling refunds in a month.
It's also a money loss right now. The fact that I still haven't been able to pay after an hour of dealing with this is really not hurting me at all since I'm just going to boot up Rift here in a minute. EA, by having this silly rule which is causing their servers to crash, is literally losing money by the minute. My guess is that EA will have experienced millions of dollars in lost revenue by the end of today.
Website still not working for me, starting to get edgy. Need moar coffee. I am getting a waiting room que but then dumping me with a connection was reset browser error. Anyone else able to make it in and sub??
Just want to say , this is the first time I encountered a company that wouldnt let me sign up for theri service due to excessive demand.
How about not taking the website down during the game maintainance? How about stating in the launcher that when the game came back up, you would need a subscription to continue? Maybe even advising players to do so while the game was down, to avoid delays?

Launcher? What Launcher? I barely have logged out of this game since I got in on early access. Yea thats right, addicted. I hit the play button at 6AM every morning fully encased with eye boogers, I ain't trying to read no launcher screen that early! Email whats that? Facebook whats that? Twitter never heard of it. lol
Normally an incasso option is offered. Not with this game. Okay, next option CC. I never use my CC online. Paypal, tried to use it. Gave a general error. Okay then I ordered a timecard online. Got delivered today. Now the website is really slow. Finally able to put in the code. Pressed continue, again general error. What can I do more? .... Even Darkfall Online did a better job at launch!
Look in todays world of high-speed internet access.. Having a page tell you that you're in a waiting room is freaking crazy..
We aren't waiting to get into some live chat stream or something like that. We are attempting to log in and enter some credit card information. I refuse to believe there is not another site out there handeling transaction that doesn't have just as much if not more traffic coming through it..
Ebay, Paypal, RMT sites and what have you's get tons of traffic daily non-stop. This EA site seems to on the lowest end of ends when it comes to bandwidth and what kind of traffic they can handle..
It's not the point of giving customers fair warning that you had to enter code. It's the fact that they can't complete it at all. There's no way that Bioware of EA would've said..
"Hey enter all your codes and subscribe with payment now. Cause our bandwidth and site design are horrindous and you guys are gonna be locked out for hours. Just trying to enter some CC info. Again this is not an in game issue. We'll just be dicking you over on the website to prevent you the time to play our game.."
Something like that might of peaked my interest into entering sub stuff at that point. Although I lost my CC a few days ago and actyally just got it back yesterday..
Fail website is fail website.. I'm sorry..
EDIT: It'd prob take my 10mins tops not even to set up my freaking payment.. LoL.. This has been strretched out to 3 hours because of shitty website.. I'm astounded..
PM before you report at least or you could just block.
How I would of done it? I would of done it at the end of the 30 days free which is payed for when buying SWTOR, by then many players would of resubed before the end of the 30 days and would of been less volume of people setting up subs by the end of the 30 free days

Yes. This is all true. It just goes to show what cheap bean-counting scumbags they have at these companies that they would cheap out that bad on web site servers when they are working with these kinds of monstrous budgets and potentital incomes.
How I would of done it? I would of done it at the end of the 30 days free which is payed for when buying SWTOR, by then many players would of resubed before the end of the 30 days and would of been less volume of people setting up subs by the end of the 30 free days

^This and yes it may be our faults but I've been waiting for 3 hours now almost 4 I've had error's twice and its just silly that I have to wait in a line for the main site than wait again to log in than wait again for it to register which would mostly be an Error. EA/Bioware did great with the Staggered relelase but when I look back at Laucnh Week this will stand out as the failure, that could've and should've been avoided.
I find it hilarious that they thought to stagger the entrance of millions of players but it didn't occur to them that when it came time to pay forcing these millions of players to instantly bum rush the subscription server might, maybe, COULD possibly bring it down...
Should staggered the subscriptions as well...dumb. -goes back to waiting as he's been doing for the last 3 hours-
Now the subscribtion page is working, but when i choose subscribtion method, it forwards me to www.stwor.com ... That's just great...
This what crappy launch means, "we warned, players, we did that and did that, but still majority of players couldn't play the game", In my office I always say, saying, 'we did that and we tried that, but didn't work out' is looser's talk... The winner just does it the right way...
But they are winners anyway, since they probably got enough cash to cover development expenses, so they can now crap on their players...
I don't understand, it was pretty obvious, that it was going to happen:
They knew how many people didn't subscribe.
They knew how many will try to suscribe when the grace period will be over.
SWTOR website was crashing at all times w/o massive subscriber attack.
What other information was needed to see this coming?
What could have been done?

A. Some warning
B. Adjust site buffers for predicted numbers of people who'd be trying to sign up based on the numbers of sold copies

Prepare servers for the massive traffic.
Shit hit the fan when they forced a huge load of people to enter in their site on the same day, during approximate period of time
Which is not even an excuse, with so much budget they should have invested a bit in their bandwith
