How difficult is it to set up a Paypal account with your debit card? takes few seconds. All that time you spent typing this you could be subbed by now. They won't charge you anything till end of the month so what is the issue?
What bothers me is I have 30 days of game time on my account....
Why am i forced to sign up for a sub today when i dont need it? Maybe i'll be bored with the game in 30 days and wont want to play it anymore and then i'll just have to cancel this sub.
But the main thing that gets me is the fucking wait time.... Ive been sitting on the site now for near 45 mins in the "waiting room" so i can put my sub informatin in on an account that has 30 days of game time available in it so i can use my vacation i took to play the game....
Instead im wasting it writing this forum post and sitting in the waiting room on the swtor website.
There is no reason I should be forced to have an active subscription today if i still have gametime on my account.
¨indeed, I also have a vacation and not allot of free time, this is my vacation, to stare at a terrible blue swtor site and watch as my IP is blocked in a loop, been here for near 5 hours now, with in the frame of law they have it 100% ofc, but ethical no, its disgusting and wrong.
If you stay at a Hotel, you pay when you leave, if the Hotel messed up, you get discount, if they fucked up royal, you pay nothing, if they fucked up the booking and have no room for you, Hotel is forced to find an equal or better place and pay the traveling cost to get there.
Where is my equal or better place to stay now ? I'm standing infront of the Hotel, that I pre forked cash into and payed full price for the stay now the Hotel staff have an angry mob out site in the freezing cold and they dont give a shit and will not offer guests to stay at another equal or better place, -they'll just let you sleep out site in the bitter frost and die for all they care, Oops not until they get your credit card info so they can charge your frozen corpse thrown in the dumpster 30 day's later.
This MMO industry is terrible vs Hotel/Restaurant industry
I guess its for the fact the MMO industry is only a few years old and most of the cliantel are kids who do not know any better.
been in the Hotel Industry now for 15 years, its the little mistakes that separate soon to be hostels and respectful Hotels who price top dollar and 100% of the time offer what is expected of them, if we make one tiniest of mistakes you'll get a free night, free food, free stay or we will simply drive you to an equal or better hotel at our cost, then we will humbly ask forgiveness and back track with the tail between our legs.
but this MMO industry is in its infacny much like its cliantel who accepts to be shit on and been made to look like a fool and we pay actual money for this.
Having to enter the credit card info wasn't a problem for me, but they also stipulated I had to crate up the wife and mail her to the Bioware Austin offices.
OK they DIDN'T actually say that, but hey my cunning ruse got her out of my hair for the holidays.
To the OP, adding your credit card info when you create your account is standard operating proceedure for any MMO. They didn't have you do this until the 20th because they gave preoders a grace period. Its been that way for over ten years. Why this comes as a shock to you I do not understand.

Are you new to MMO's? It's been standard practice in every game since EQ and UO has required that the player set up some sort of payment method in advance.
If you look at my profile and date joined you might conclude that I have been playing MMO's for a long time. It's kind of ignorant to keep pointing that it's common practice and that everyone complaining has the IQ of a cucumber. It's not common practice.
I have been part of MMO's as a consumer since I got broadband Internet, which is in 2000.
I bought the game checking that gamecards will be a valid payment option. Now instead of pointing out how inexperienced I am, and everyone else complaining as well... tell me why am I forced to buy a gamecard now to use my free month?
THAT is not common practice as well, and it will not hold up in a court of law.
Seriously it seems that the MMo playerbase gets dumber and dumber with every new game that releases....well or maybe just the ppls posting here......
I'm sorry englihs is my 3rd language, its not my problem you have such a silly spelling system.
I'm sorry I'm shitting on your glorious wow in space.

Rofl, you truly have no clue why he said that, but needless to say this response here proves you have zero argument, and yes flailing around trying to put someone down with info that has zero basis in reality and is all in your head is having no argument.

Oh no! then youll have to go to a webpage and push a button! oh teh humanity! really how lazy can you be?
Heres a hint, this is how pretty much every mmo does it, please, PLEASe spend money on a lawyer for this so we can laugh our asses off when you reaslise you have no case.

There's plenty of precedent, anyway. Hotel rooms, for example.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
Nearly every MMO does this, so you have to accept it! Accept the truth! You don't want to complain! Complain might lead to change and change is BAD! All MMO companies chose this practice which clearly makes this a result of a democratic procress! Those companies outnumber you, little complaining bad person! And being against this means you are being against democracy! So be a good citizen and accept our truth! And we will accept your payment details! For free!

Well use some of that intelligence your have inside that knoggin and buy a prepaid credit card or open a paypal account. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY A PREPAID GAME CARD. There are other options.

In my experience it is common practice.
I started playing MMO's when DAoC was released. I had to enter CC info and set up a sub then. I have had to do the same for AoC, WoW, Warhammer, EQ2, CoH and a few others over the years.
While I cant tell you "WHY" they make you do it, I can tell you that it is the standard. I do not agree that it should be this way, but it is. And if you want to play then you have to abide by their rules. If not dont play the game.
And dont buy a gamecard. If nothing else go to your local drug store, target, walmart ect and buy a prepaid visa. That way if you do cancel after the 30 days you can use the visa to buy other stuff with, unlike a game card where its only use is for the game.
Just to be clear, you get the first 30 days for free, right? Like you paid the 60 bucks, you get 30 days free with that, and if you want, you can cancel before the 30 days are up and never once have to pay 15 dollars in subscription fees. Is all of this correct? If so then this is a pretty small problem - just cancel your subscription before the 30 days are up. Problem solved.

No you dont get your first 30 days for free. The only reason they can claim that is because nowhere is mentioned what you actually paid for. (They mainly state what you didnt pay for, like apparently those 30 days)
What you do know is that you can't get those 'free' 30 days without paying (yeah I know, right? sounds so weird) and you can't use them without entering payment details. Even if it means you have to add a GTC key because that is the only payment option available to you for whatever reason.
Nowadays the meaning of the word 'free' is just as clear as the meaning of the word 'sandbox'.
