If only stupidity were illegal though. T_T
At the least have a 'reading comprehension or death penalty' law so threads like this stop happening when the box and everything else has explanations on them.

I wouldnt throw around words like that if you fail to understand the OP's point. He obviously is angry, with a lot of hyperbole in his post as result. But he does understand that the billing information is an ADDITIONAL step (which he calls an extra hoop to jump through). That information is not needed at all untill you continue your sub after the 30 days. Many companies ask it anyway, but for other reasons.

And what did I say that was hypocritical or failed to catch the point?
Yes, the op understood the call for billing information. Great. I slighted it for stupidity, I put reading comprehension as the 'least'.
And you can't honestly think he has good reading comprehension when he's asking for legal implications over a legal disclaimer. At best he is only comprehending the blunt nature of what he's reading otherwise he wouldn't be having a hissy fit.
Defend the innocent, not the mindless.

The legal implications can just be his anger talking. Its exaggerating. I dont know him well enough. But he is not stupid. Unlike many others in this thread he does realise why certain parts in the account process are not needed. And why you have to provide them anyway. Instead of acting as the next sheep, he well.. then starts lashing out like some other farm animal of a more vicious sort (my understanding of farms ended halfway the sentence):p
I just try not to confuse bluntness with stupidity or package with content, you know.
If he gets it, then there's no reason he should be throwing a hissy fit.
There has to be something that he's fundamentally rejecting or can't agree with that cuases him ro react as such. Otherwise he simply has no self control.
And that is hardly any better.

The difference is, in your example the issue caused by user behavior, my example was presenting a system flaw - the issues was caused by system that forced activation after entering a retail key.
Your arguments are none, you only rant blindly without actually trying to understand the reasons why the system is setup the way it is or at least accepting the fact that you do not know the reasons.
If you want to criticize something, you have to understand it first.
After all the hoopes these bastards make you jump, the final insult is this, after pre buying and then buying the physical copy, they shit on us by forcing us to give them our credit card information, cus thats the only thing on there mind, to suck as much money from our poor sobs as possible.
Any one familiar with business law please tell me if there is a solid foundation for this ?
its like buying food at a restaurant : forking out cash even before you get in there, then paying full price before you get to enjoy the low quality of this steaming turd of a game.
while the dish is ready in the kitchen, suddenly you need to give them your credit card so they can charge you at a later date, -should you make the mistake of walking to there direction.
I for one had little repsect for this game in beta, buying this turd just to play with friends, for the love of god bring out GW2 or any next gen MMO.
This game is near ready for Beta and its officially, people have been mentioning bugs like the UI for months and nothing happens, -this tub of shit will loose 50% of the players in 6 months.
It is standard, but it's a standard a lot of people don't seem to be familiar with, or have forgotten for some reason.
How about looking at if from a different angle? You put in a cc now, or add a time card, and whenever billing starts, if you still want to play, you'll have zero interruption to your playtime. It'll just auto-renew.
How many angry threads would there be from people who didn't add info, and got hit with this process along with everyone else on the 19th January (that's 30 days, right?) and kicked up because no-one reminded them their sub was coming due?
6 of one, a half-dozen of the other. Neither is perfect, but this is the way the industry has done it for years, and there's no penalty for cancelling your sub right after you've set it up.
I remember being slightly befuddled by the whole 'subscription' thing when I started playing MMOs, I remember having to set up cc info for EQ2 and WoW and many others since to access my 'free' time, and I'm very familliar with the €1 auth charge from online transactions in general. I accept that may others may not be, but I'm honestly baffled by the concept that so many will merrily bandy about the concept of legal action for something so minor.
True, we all pay a bit more attention to where our money goes these days, the times we live in being less profligate than previously, but to generate so much ballyhoo over something like this is just such a waste of energy. This isn't a 'stand up for the little guy' scenario, it's an example of assumptions and lack of attention to detail biting people in the bum, and then them being all self-righteously indignant about their own failure to pay attention to detail, which is always....y'know, someone else's fault.
(edited for random exhaustion-induced letter shuffling)
"It is standard in MMOs" does not justify anything. I think it is a very shady financial practice and I canceled my subscription, and I encourage everyone to do so.
I will probably renew when my game time expires and it will take a minute to do so, but it will be on my terms. Though the game is great so far, I must add that I am immensely disppointed in Bioware because of this. I believe the dark side of EA prevailed here.

do you subcribed, and then deactivate the subcription..how diferent is that from subcribing and not deactivating it or subcribing and not having to register at all and register after it?
It all does not mean shit, and it does not only work that way in the gaming industry, ever tought of newspapers..magazines..tv..you pay..then you get it..
you sign a contract..you get xx for free then after xx time you start paying... thats how everyting around you works.
be damnwell glad its not as bad as mobile or tv or whatever else yet..then you had to actualy sign a year contract and were forced to pay for x months before you can stop paying/playing.
I'm just curious, question for those that were playing before and after the CC requirement went into effect: Is there less RMT spam now?
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
hold on .. you are angry you have to put in a subscription plan (that wont be billed till the end of your free month) like we have been doing for every single mmo in the last what? 12-15 years?
^^this one sir
OP read this then reread it then go ahead and reread it again!!!!!!!!
awesome awesome, someone is recognizing the crappy business model that Blizz has been using for years and that bioware is continueing have to say i love your comment on bring GW2 out already, you're completely right it is herp to continue that fail model and stupid people who say it's okay are the ones who keep this shit machine running at full power. No it's not okay to put out a crap game and expect a monthly fee and it's not okay to expect payment ahead of time for services not rendered.
What i'd love to know tho is does their website allow for cancellation of account with remaining days, WoW has that, if you cancel and you still have days left it allows you to login and do all your normal things. If not, I'd be as furious as this guy is.

If it such a bad business model, explain Blizzards revenue and profits....
it's called people either won't leave their friends, or they have not had anything better come out. Simple as that. Beside, in America alone, they've lost 2 mil subs in the past year can't be that great of a model if they keep bleeding those.
I'm just curious, question for those that were playing before and after the CC requirement went into effect: Is there less RMT spam now?
I didnt see a single RMT message so far (i know i know i cant believe it myself but its true) since the 13th i havent seen one RMT nessage i know other servers do have them i did read on Gamestar that they are there but on Prophety of Five i did not see 1 yet (might have missed them but if you can miss all RMT messages thanm there cant be that many)
Seriously it seems that the MMo playerbase gets dumber and dumber with every new game that releases....well or maybe just the ppls posting here......
They get younger and younger and'or have never left there parents home (yes talkng to you 42 year olds still living with your mother because you cant handle life, unless of course you are handicapped which is fine)
Uh, we're MMO'ers.. you're going to have to narrow that down a wee bit more me thinks.
Comments
1) Write in your credit card info
2) Activate your account
3)Cancel your account
4) Play your free 30 days!
...is that really SO hard?
